Nintendo is RUINING new games in these franchises

  • Nintendo is often (rightfully) the target of critiques of limited scope in their games whether that be a game with bare bones content, low production values, or anywhere in between. When we consider they are also in control of some of the most valuable entertainment brands in the world despite this and charge a price befitting that description more often than not, the question then becomes, could they be doing even better if they acted like it? Let's talk about it.

What Nintendo game do YOU think they should invest more into? & what would you want them to do with it?
Thanks for watching! We'd appreciate any and all responses to the above prompt or the video at large but either way we'd super appreciate if you left something (preferably related to the topic) in the comment section to help the video reach more people!

Nothing much but the one thing that really frustrates me about the whole situation is people using Iwata's death as a weapon against these crappy actions in a disgusting and disturbing way that disturbed a bunch of innocent people online. The problem Is those types of people can't even think clearly or remember anything properly and don't just pretend everything was beautiful and pretty when both Iwata and Reggie were still around. There were also problems during the Wii U era and The marketing for the Wii U itself was terrible. I'm not saying Iwata was a terrible present. I'm just saying the past was never perfect. I like all the CEOs just the way they are. Also truthfully Doug Bowser and Shuntaro Furukawa Never made the decision or the idea to make the paid online memberships. They were planned long before they even became presidents, so I'm assuming someone from the game and industry might have told Iwata or Reggie about this situation while the switch was in development and the Wii U failure. People nowadays believe everything is real on the internet and things aren't that real. They just listen to misinformation spread it across the world and tell people it's real. In reality it's not. I just wish people could think clearly and accurately and stop using Iwata's death against the situation

nintendo's polish and quality is so often what I appreciate from them as a consumer, and I feel like that's why it "hurts" more when it doesn't feel like they take the time to develop the game into the best product it could be.

Nintendo needs to catch up still with other companies when it comes to online multiplayer

I think that if Arms got a second game and they did the ideas you suggested, the game would catch on. One thing I liked about Arms is that its a game I felt comfortable playing online. The other is that Nintendo games always have that style to them where like you said, when they want to do something their way, they put a lot of effort into it and it becomes a game with a seriously huge about of depth when it comes to that said games mechanics/gameplay. The whole reason I have a current Nintendo platform is for Splatoon. That game alone just feels like it was made for me unlike other major games like Halo, cod, ect. Like seriously, It would take me a while to fully put it into words how much I love Splatoon and Im so glad that Nintendo allows Devs to experiment and really makes sure that their games havs something unique to offer in the gaming world. :3 Arms and Mainly Splatoon were the games that REALLY caught my eye when the Switch was first announced after all :3

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense, they both have a similar vibe to the early 2000s in JP developed games that resonates with you so it makes sense that those games hit with you that hard

F-Zero is easily one of those cases where they actively sabotaged it in its prime. Undermarketed, especially in US, games put on consoles with either low or waning playerbases, and making the later games SNES-styled when the majority of their fans wanted more 3D iterations. That's before mentioning how the anime was badly handled.
The anime is great on its own, but marketing was horrible. Rather than go to Funimation at the time, they went to 4Kids, where mostly Japanese shows go to die. Plus, it was set against the likes of Sonic X, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Kirby: Right Back at Ya! Only 15 episodes were released. Then you have the fact it did not do as well in Japan, despite it reaching a full 51 episodes. Needless to say, they may have tried to push F-Zero back then, but they weren't smart about it. Had they held off, especially with the GBA push, F-Zero could have seen a DS title at the very least; possibly a Wii title at the most. Many do agree that it was lucky not to be on Wii U (except as Virtual Console titles).
Then, fast forward a few generations, a couple bad rereleases of F-Zero X, and constant reusing the original F-Zero, it's really hard to expect a F-Zero fan to be optimistic. At least it would have been until F-Zero X on Switch. It's fine on its own, but we all know Nintendo is just too unreliable with online multiplayer. Not to mention, every F-Zero game is just too old. Sure, oldies can be goldies, but F-Zero deserves something current-day (and a push like how Fire Emblem Three Houses and Animal Crossing New Horizons got).
Advance Wars is another that could probably have a huge Mt. Everest to climb. Initially it looked good because the once-ignored series was getting a remake of the first two games. And it was supposed to launch a lot earlier. But then, real world events took it off course. So, basically it was out of their control. However (now that things cooled down a bit), as Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot Camp is effectively finalized, many fans think it is nonsense that the game still has no definitive date. Sure, they may show impatience, but it's really not unreasonable. When a game is already done, there should have been no reason to delay it any longer, especially when months have gone by where it could see a safe launch window.
Seeing as 2023 is growing ever closer though, Advance Wars, if it launches without more (needless) delays, could see itself sandwiched by other bigger 2023 titles. We also have to remember that these games are nearly the same as their original counterparts, so some may feel no reason to go for the remakes. Should the games launch, it will need all the help it can get (plus good marketing) so that it can make good use of the Switch Effect.
Probably rambling, but I'm really not a big fan of delays for reasons like this.
With Nintendo's more current offerings, such as Mario Strikers Battle League, I half thought that it would probably not do so hot, but only because it lacked content and modes before the update. Glad that at least there's more characters and stages to play but aside from needing to feel and be more complete from day 1, it could desperately use more modes. Even most sports games have other things to do than just the core game and online matches.
You also bring up potential for E-Sports, and that is something I feel 50/50 on. In some way, yes, they should learn to embrace the scene more. A lot of games they have show ridiculous potential for it, and they can elevate their franchises in the long run. However, there is something to be said about alienating their audience (which they are pretty good at in some cases). It's good to say they should find a balance in this for their more competitive games. But I think firstly they need to make sure such games are fun to play, then fair. That's not to say make it unpredictable, because no one likes luck robbing someone in a competitive game.

Say what you will about New Horizons, not only did that game halt game releases for nearly 9 months afterward, but the game itself is so unbelievably surface level from both a casual single player and an overall multiplayer perspective. The dlc was so, SO close to making this game worth its 60$ but now that that's been the "final update", I can now confirm vanilla NH will always be a 40$ open beta

Nintendo doesn't care because they know for sure that if you want to play Mario, Zelda, Pokémon you HAVE TO buy Nintendo! There is not another way to do it officially, so they gain money based on that.

frankly I'd love them to put more into Nintendo switch sports. Fix the multiplayer and scrap that hub world, or give me an option thats allows me to wander like wii sports resorts game. Bring back some classic Wii sports games as DLC's and letr me use a mii if i want to. with the same level of miitopia styled editing
