Naysayers have underestimated Nintendo time and time again, and the Switch is NO exception. In fact, it's a very blatant example. From pre-launch Nintendo NX doom predictions to whispers of a "slow year" in 2024, Nintendo consistently proves the skeptics WRONG. The latest Nintendo Direct has solidified a promising 2024 AND 2025 on the horizon. AJ wants to dive into all of this and more reasons why Nintendo Switch is the best console we've ever seen.

I just started playing this and I'm so blown away by ssb, i shed a tear playing it
As a parent, the switch has provided so much value for our kids. Not only does it come with two useable controllers, but the entry point for the console is low enough that we eventually just got them each their own. The sustained value it’s provided on car rides and family vacations is simply unmatched, and I cannot wait to see what Nintendo does next.
agreed!! i think that’s another perspective the internet skews HEAVILY. i’ve seen/heard so many assertions that “no one will ever do that” re: tabletop mode but i consistently use it with my nieces. & i see it in the wild CONSTANTLY lol.
@@WatchReDirect I actually argued exactly that when NateDrake brought up the possibility of doing away with detachable Joy-Cons. That’d be taking away half the point of the system.
Nintendo is family-friendly and for that I will always be a Nintendo fan boy😂😂
Yew best console ever.. untill Switch 2 comes out.
Been saying that for years. Both hardware and software sales have been insane consistantly.
Consistently*
But I see what you mean. Your words are true.
Switch reignited my love and excitement for gaming in 2017 and is still my go to. It was the first console I bought at launch. The first console I bought more than one version of. It's gotten me through countless doctors' appointments and blackouts. Skyrim on a plane is a meme but for me it's a genuine cherished memory because it was what I played the first time I ever flew and my almost 3000 hours in ACNH speaks for itself. I'm hoping the next system will do well but nothing will ever have as special a place in my heart as the Switch.
It's honestly insane the output and the consistency we've gotten throughout the Switch's lifespan. I wonder how much of that can be attributed to Nintendo merging their home console and portable development. Regardless, it's got me excited to see what we get in the next generation as I expect Nintendo will be working hard to maintain their release schedule and quality.
i’d wager that’s most of it re: them merging departments. that alongside their increase in partnerships with 3rd parties to co-develop major titles.
But that’s … why they merged them. :/ That was the whole point. It’s a hybrid console.
@@_sparrowhawk …. yes.
Some people hate the switch because they only want perfect graphics. Look what Nintendo is pulling now.
You are right it is! I love the Switch still and the Library keeps getting better and better since the days of the Wii and DS.
Honestly for me, I 100% agree that the switch has gotten nothing but better as time has gone on. Since the first time playing my own to now, it's STILL my main console. With me fully abandoning Xbox and PlayStation for good and switching to mainly Nintendo and PC, Nintendo's games for the switch just too good. Mainly I play Splatoon on both Wii U and Switch, over 900 hours in 3 alone, this console and the quality of it's games and how many games per year are just so much better. Vs live service obsessions, subscriptions and hollow high fidelity games that come out every 4-5 years. Xbox is dead to me and so is Sony. My Steam Deck and Switch and soon full PC tower are all that I will need. You nail a lot of points on the head because I swear, Nintendo will never get it's due props from spec obsessed gamers. That care more about the plastic game box they play on more than the games themselves. As always, fantastic video and learned some cool stuff too :3
🤗🤗🤗
It kind of is though. Make it reach PS4/5 level graphics, give it good UI, better wi-fi connection and it's literally the perfect console.
Totally agree so many heavy hitters and games I haven't play yet on the Switch
Just bought a switch Oled. Sold my steam deck. I love it that much.
damn, nice lol
It's time bois
YOU'RE FREEEEE lol
This console is the best console, if you bought it a few years later, as the joycons didn't drift as much.. and there were decent 3rd party controllers
Several months ago I finally broke down and bought a PS5. I've played 4 games total on the thing (Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West and FFVII Remake/Reunion). The plan was to check out Sony's backlog of games...but...I really don't have any want/interest to do that anymore. Soon, I'll be selling the PS5, pre-ordering Brothership/Echoes of Wisdom/Prime 4 and toss the rest at the Switch 2.
fwiw, i’ve had my ps5 pretty much since launch & i’m pretty sure i have barely played more games than you have. i don’t think i’ve hit double digit ps5 games. in nearly half a decade lol.
@@WatchReDirectI left console gaming in 2016. My last home console was the PS4 Pro. However I have had all models of the Switch at launch. Currently use my Switch OLED Tears of the Kingdom Special edition.
Best comeback in console history. I’m thinking this really plays in to Switch soon becoming the best selling console of all time. When do you think it will happen? What’s the ceiling for its sales?
Another thing you can say is that almost every new game or ports of old games that has released on switch of the IPs that has been on switch that Nintendo owns or either they publish the game or they somewhat co own the company that released the game has sold very well. Whether there’s new entries or there’s old ports from the Wii, 3ds, or the Wii U from March 2017 to 2024. That’ll even probably hold true with the games that will release on switch in the future. Like Mario and the Luigi brother ship, Metroid prime 4 beyond, Zelda echos of wisdom, Pokémon legends z-a, and more. After the switch ends, there’ll be almost something for someone for people to enjoy. I think one mistake that Nintendo has made was not having enough content with their sports games including their Mario sports games on switch and just doing the update model for them like in splatoon or other games like splatoon but I myself don’t think that the update model and basically update with new content with the sports games every so often that should have been in the game on day 1 on release day or not enough content on release.
I believe all of the sports games suffer from this. Besides maybe ring fit adventure since you could say that also it’s a sports game as well. I don’t know how much content ring fit has since I’ve never played the game or seen anything about it on online since it’s release in 2019. I also want to know whose idea was it to release most of their sports games on switch release in either the spring or summer time. Besides maybe ring fit that only i think only released during fall. Other thing Nintendo should have done for the switch was release a new Mario kart game on switch instead of Mario kart 8 deluxe.
The switch effect has helped many games, they either sell between 1 million to 30 or 40 something million with I believe Mario kart 8 deluxe selling I think either 30 something million or 40 something million on switch. The switch era is coming to a close not that long. Once the next console comes out, the switch only has a couple more years left like 3 or 4 years. Right now, this year is probably the only year that the switch will be Nintendo’s primary focus console before they release and reveal their next Nintendo console whatever that is. You can’t say Nintendo hasn’t released every game that they have promised to release on switch for the switch. Even the game with the longest development cycle for the switch with bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 4 beyond, Zelda tears of the kingdom, and others like them. I think the only few IPs that are missing that Nintendo owns with a new entry for the switch would be f-zero, punch out, a new 3d and 2d donkey Kong games, a new Mario kart game, Mario baseball and Mario basketball, and more. The switch has become one of my favorite console of all time since I got the switch in June of 2018. My mom who is 48 even got the switch oled this year in 2023 with the 512 gb memory card. She thought she had brought the 1t memory card but brought the 512 gb memory card instead. I was also helping her set up with her Nintendo account on the switch, as well as updating her switch oled and have her making her own mii on the switch oled, and setting the oled up for her on tv in her room.
Switch is peak gonna be crazy to see how they follow it up
I love the Steam Deck, but it is more expensive and not as convenient as Switch. You also can't own games physically and that means whatever you "buy" can be taken away at any time.
Physical media is dead anyway this is not 2010.
Ur not wrong lol

The switch was the console that was portable and had games that I had to buy a full computer to play.
My second place is the 3ds/Ds line and it's a distant, distant second.
Switch is by loooong far (imho) the best videogame console ever made. Period
Price is good. Quality is good (its a hybrid), games are awesome, value is very good.
And you can play wlmost every Nintendo franchise there.
Better than gamecube?

Obviously the Switch is superior to the GameCube. It has beyond more games than that machine.
Yeah it is.

I cant see this systen being topped.........i said te same thing about the NES😂😂
Metroid prime 4 beyond……because it way beyond the time when we should have gotten.
I'm looking forward to the switch 2 BUT as long as we get awesome games I don't need a new system.
that’s exactly how i feel. i think a lot of people have been spinning this narrative that switch is getting too long in the tooth but i still play mine every day that i touch a video game lol
I got 5 switchs. No doubt
One of the best, not the objective best, I still think ps2 is the best console but yeah switch os pretty great
ps2 doesn’t have a single game that sold 20m units & only 4 over 10m
it was a glorified dvd player for most people 🤫🤫🤫🤫
@@WatchReDirect That, and the PS2 was competing against the Gamecube/Dreamcast/XBox.
@@OurHeroXero kinda? ps2 sold more than all of those consoles combined. xbox series & ps5 are a lot steeper competition & switch is still handedly beating ps2 in terms of install base.
To be fair, we are in a bit of a lull in terms of major sellers (I.E. games that’ll sell at least 10 million units) coming out. The only ones left is SMP Jamboree & Pokémon Legends Z-A with smaller-but-cool releases like Echoes of Wisdom & M&L Brothership sprinkled in. Metroid Prime 4 is being heavily pushed, but it’s not a major seller (nor do I think Nintendo expects it to be).
So while it *IS* a slower year for Nintendo in terms of heavy-hitters, that doesn’t mean we aren’t getting some interesting games. But at the same time, I’m not sure how Nintendo is going to hit 13.5 million Switches this fiscal year off of just Jamboree as far as guaranteed big sellers go. Maybe their evergreens will help?
3:48 - factually untrue.
also, you just named 3 games that are liable to sell 10-20 million units
@@WatchReDirect I only named 2, Jamboree & Legends Z-A. Metroid Prime 4 probably isn’t selling anything above 6 million without divine intervention. 2D Zelda games also (sadly) don’t sell nearly as much as their 3D counterparts, so I’m not expecting Echoes of Wisdom to buck that trend. So about your metrics, we’ll likely only have one 10+ million seller this year in SMP Jamboree, as Legends is a 2025 release.
But I’ll be more clear, I don’t think this is a bad year by any stretch of the imagination. The fact that we’re getting as much as we are is amazing for likely the last year of the Switch 1. But it’s understandably not as massive as 2017 or even 2023, & that’s ok. The Switch is still going out on a high note. If anything, this year being a lull is a testament to the high set by the Switch’s lifespan.
well duh it's nintendo of course it's the best
this video title makes me huuuuuurl. switch is the first system of post Iwata-san era. its souless, no menu music, laggy eshop, miis are abandoned, joycons that drop bluetooth connection constantly and eventually succumb to joy con drift, remakes/HD upscales of 14 year old games drop at 60 dollars, mario sports games and animal crossing release UNFINISHED only for "free DLC to come later (also Mario Strikers Switch has no content and is actually garbage), games in general never go down in price (RIP nintendo select series), virtual console is dead to force ppl to subscribe to internet service even tho nintendo internet used to be free. Their internet service DOESNT even improve the actual gaming experience (no dedicated servers and other issues, cant even msg friends like you could on wii u and 3ds AND EVEN WII) everything about the switch is constant corporatism and anti consumer. they get away with this due to iwata's death + the MASSIVE success of the switch. also, and this is a nitpick, switch in portable mode just doesnt feel good to play cuz its a giant freaking tablet. definitetly aint no comfy DS. Smash Ultimate has the HIGHEST input lag/worst buffer system of all smash games. also zelda series has died on switch. classic zelda formula is DEAD cuz BOTW and TOTK sold so well. now even the new zelda announced in the June direct is ANOTHER minecraft style Zelda. No more old school zelda formula going forward. Im just so done with switch. all i look forward to now is Mario & Luigi and Metroid Prime 4. 3rd party support is good on switch but everything else...mehhhhhh.
...regardless of my negative comment, i dig ur enthusiasm and ima subscribe lol
switch is a nice console but i wouldn’t say the best of all time, top three though
Best gaming console yes, best gaming platform no. Steam is better.
disagree. steam is hit or miss if majority of people can play most of the available games due to their hardware or how frequently major titles are poorly optimized for pc
on top of that, most people aren’t willing to a. maintain/troubleshoot b. upgrade their hardware to mitigate the above issue.
also, you’re not going to find a competent setup that compares to switch in terms of $ spent. i can buy a switch with multiple high quality games for cheaper than i can buy a mid range pc with everything i need to play let aline games to play (even considering steam sales.
could go on but tldr: switch is way more approachable for most people. i’m a very tech savvy person & even i don’t want to bother with pc gaming lol.
@@WatchReDirect ok. I disagree, but everyone can have his own opinion.
@@WatchReDirectIf you’re talking about the Steam Deck I agree. If you mean PC gaming as a whole you’re definitely wrong. It’s not complicated at all anymore. There is a reason why more people are getting into PC than ever before. I have introduced people into PC gaming that were caveman console gamers lmao. They knew nothing about PC’s and we’re not tech savvy at all.
