  • Are you contemplating seeing a chiropractor, but want to know what chiropractors do, and what a chiropractic treatment is like?
    In this video, I explain and show you what you can expect from a typical chiropractic visit, and the logic behind what a chiropractor does.
    In the simplest terms, chiropractors evaluate the spine for areas of abnormal spinal joint alignment and/or movement. They do this by static and motion palpation of spinal segments (tactile approach) and assessing and comparing range of motion on both sides (like neck rotation, or sidebending of your spine). Some go further by taking skeletal X-rays and observing the relative position and alignment of vertebral segments (and patterns of degeneration) or measuring muscle activity along the spine using instrumentation. When one or several areas are determined to be out of alignment, then a chiropractic adjustment is performed to correct the deficiency.
    The goal is to keep the spinal column flexible and aligned in a way that minimizes irritation to nerve tissues within. This can also make the spine more durable and resistant to degeneration, which is typically accelerated in areas of the spine that are out of alignment and are being forced to bear extra weight.

    Excellent video. The visualization of the spine on the table and showing what a chiropractor does is great for those who wonder what a chiropractor is looking for when checking the spine.

    Awesome video. Thank you so much :) also I went to a chiropractor after being in pain for 3 months and my shoulders been frozen - I could not lift my arms past my chest. After being assessed and worked on for 5 minutes the back pain was decreased by 90% and I could lift my arms! The pain went away completely after two days and no more pain meds! thought I would share this with you. Thanks for this excellent video.😀

    Thank you very very very much for this video! You obviously are a chiropractor who truly cares for people. My adrenal glands crashed because of the fighter flight my body was in from Age 5 years old. I was 51 years old and thought I would just rather die than live with the pain. I found a chiropractor who didn't really help me out too much period Then a year-and-a-half later I found a chiropractor online dr. Eric Berg who teaches about all of the symptoms that come from a organ crashing or almost crashing. He helped me to understand my body. Then I found an awesome chiropractor here in town, Castle Rock Colorado. This chiropractor is truly amazing! He does all kinds of adjustments on my body and the pain is going away. Please if you're reading this and you're in pain don't think there's one answer for everything. Eat organic food! Eat healthy fats, healthy proteins and vegetables. Learn about your body and research everything.

    thank you for taking the time to explain what is being done. I'm in the process of going to chiropractic for new and older neck and hip problems. now I understand what and why he is doing these things. I hope you will do other videos talking about what we can experience 24-48 hours after an adjustment and when something must not be normal. for example, my first few adjustments caused me to have motion sickness or lightheaded sensations and it made me very fearful that something serious was going on. it took all of 2 minutes for a neck adjustment to stop it. I'm one of those people who get spasms and trigger points on old injuries....now I know, but worried all weekend.

      Spinal adjustments are less effective for AS. I would recommend managing it via lifestyle modification-- diet, exercise, meditation/stress reduction, etc. PulsedEMF would be helpful to manage the discomfort, as well. pulsedemf.com

      Yes, what you said is correct. Perhaps contact a personal trainer, and he/she can analyze where you are weak. Once you get good muscular support to your spine, you should not feel like you need to be adjusted a lot.

    chiropractic is not spinal manipulation. an adjustment and spinal manipulation are not synonymous. an adjustment corrects nerve interference. nerve interference originates only in the upper neck.

    • @painandinjurydoctor
      @painandinjurydoctor  7 років тому +2

      Adjustments like this are not done if there is a good chance further injury will occur. Usually for a "fresh" hernia (disc) we have the patient wait for a couple of days till the inflammation and pain dies down. Ice and heat. Then, very gentle adjustments may be done to make sure the vertebrae doesn't get stuck with scar tissue. If you have bulging discs, you may want to sign up for my R2M school, an online school for curing chronic pain at home www.painandinjurydoctor.com/subscribe-to-r2m/

    Chiropractors should NEVER do adjustments on babies and young children ! Soft growing bones do NOT need adjustments. Osteopath doctors and Chiropractors use some of the same backbone spine popping methods on adults. Some medical doctors also recommend that people should take vitamin and mineral supplements.
