- Hey guys! welcome back!
We struggled to find videos of these hybrid vans on internet while we tossed up whether to buy the van or not. We also wished there was an online walk through and how to for when we were stuck on the Nullarbor and had no idea how to use any of the features.
Today we will be doing a full walk around video on our brand new Austrack Tanami x11 hybrid caravan. In this video we will be showing you how to use its features such as Gas burner , Truma hot water system and Enerdrive inverter. In part two we will be doing a full honest review on the Tanami x11 so stay tuned for that.

Hi Guys, May I suggest that you also undertake a full and honest long-term review of the camper after 12 months of use and asses how well it has performed with respect to: build quality, reliability, dust ingress, water leakages, functionality, suspension, re-sale value etc.
Hey thanks for the suggestion! We intend on doing some very Intense testing out of the van and yes we will be doing another review on the van! Thanks for the suggestion and your support!!
We have the Ezytrail Parkes13 which is so similar. The body structure is nearly identical, we have done some extra modifications for ease & comfort. We have had our van for 3 yrs and has been our best purchase, you are both going to have so much fun... so many magical moments coming up for you both. Great detailed honest review. We might see you around the way, we are both Perth people..
We loved the look of the Ezyrail parks range! They are pretty much the same van and I reckon they are made in the same factory!!
Thanks for your support Margaret!
We can not wait to hit the road and explore the less travelled spots! I’m sure we will somewhere along the line!
Awesome guys done great review and very happy for you both, going to make the trip in a bit more comfort and the whole set up with Prado looking good 👍
Looking forward to the next episode mate
Thanks jay! Appreciate the feedback! Few Prado mods still on the list!
Great to see my home state again. Looking forward to the rest of your trip in WA. Enjoying it from Arizona.
Oh awesome Arizona!! That’s a long way away!
Thanks for your support Steven’! Nice to know we have world wide followers
Love it..thanks for the walk around etc. The table that was stored where your fridge is for inside if weather is miserable and you want an eating/card game station
Thanks rose!
We were wondering why we got on in our tiny little van haha 😂 it’s a nice touch from austrack though! We sure love our card games 😎
Cheers guys for the information, as you said it is hard to find videos of walkarounds. Being able to understand how to unfold & setup the bed end is great. Also, I liked your comment about height haha the fact that you mentioned you're 6'2" and were just the right height to reach the roof clips. Myself being 5'6" & my wife at 5'1" we always carry a ladder with us. Looking forward to more of your informative videos. Cheers from Geraldton WA. Wombat & Ja
Hi Brett! Thanks for watching mate!
Yeah it’s bloody hard to find third party information sometimes! We will try to provide it in the future!
Thanks for the support Wombat and Ja
Great job guys thanks for the walkthrough I’ve just started my research into buying an off-road van so that was very helpful
No worries at all! Hint hint. We are selling our van!
Great walk around. Watched this in conjunction with the review. Pity about some of the QC issues. Neat van with everything you need. Hope all goes well in May for the big lap. Will look forward to a review after the trip to see how it performed.
Hey Steve cheers for watching mate.
Yeah it is a pity! The issues are only cosmetics and we have already fixed a lot of them it was just disappointing. Cheers mate! Yep another review in about 6months-a year!
Enjoy your new rig and safe travels.
Thank you Karl!
That's a nice trailer. Very comfortable
Yeah it’s super comfy! We love it! Bit of an upgrade from the RV3 tent haha
Excellent review guys. Especially the ensuite, well done for showing in detail. Something no-one else ever does. Probably because you're from Perth as I am, we're better. 😄True.
Thanks mate! Thought honesty and transparency is best. You know it mate, west is best haha
Hi Sarah & Keelan, will be following you tour of Oz with great interest. When I picked up my X11 a few weeks ago it was suggested to have the blinds and screens fully retracted when traveling. Aparently they can come out of the side guides in some situations. Happy travels.
Hey kev! Thanks for watching and your support mate! You’ll love the van! We love ours!
No worries, we have had one come out of the guide! Thanks for the tip we will be sure to do that next time!
Cost for it, so many bits and pieces. I could use it 😎🏡
Great honest review, I wouldn’t be happy with a new van with that workmanship either
Or to mention the after sales service
Have started watching from where you picked up the van, great stuff 🍻🍻
Hey mate thanks for binge watching haha! Our episodes get a lot better trust me!! Haha our first vids like these sucked!! Thanks for the support🍻🍻🍻
Great review guys.
Thanks Rachel for the support!
That’s one cooool lil van, great video :)
Thanks! It packs a lot in! Thanks for ya support!
That was a great and honest review, ta. I hope you will have lots of fun with your caravan.
I think there should be a supplier's documentation, as the van contains some sophisticated systems.
BR from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Thanks Thomas! We will be having lots of fun!!
Thanks for you support from Switzerland!!!
I'm so pleased to see it is not just me who can't get the cap off the gas bayonet! 😂 that is my husbands job, just can't work it out. Very informative vid, well done 😁
Hahah it’s a tough one for sure!!
Awesome video. My partner and i have been thinking about something like this. Cant be bothered setting up a camper trailer but dont want a full blow caravan either.
Thanks mate we just re shot a 6 month review video that will be out in the next week or so! We are the same! Takes myself 2 and a half minutes to fully setup everything! Including the awning! Thanks for the comment!
Thanks guys. That was an awesome video
Cheers mark! Thanks for watching mate!
Very jelly of your home on wheels guys ! 😍
Thanks guys! Each to there own though! Everything has its cons! Your setup is sick too!
very well explained cobbers
Cheers Raz ya bloody legend
Thanks for another great video. If you wanted to convert to lithium you would not have to change anything with the Enerdrive setup you have.
A agm battery should last 6 years if looked after.
Cheers Brian!
There’s a few settings in the 240v charger needing to be changed also lithium compatible dcdc charger! I love agm, would just love to have a battery bank I can not have to even think about while we are remote for 2-3 weeks straight!
Well done guys, and thank you for the information! Going to look at your review vid…..
watch our latest videos, especially the " BIG reveal" video because we ended up having very bad issues and selling the van. we got burnt
Yeeeeeeoooooo!! Sellin in front of the camera ha haaaa!!! Van looks sick too
Haha bout bloody time
Hey Sarah and Keelan, that video was super cool and i really like this trailer, keep on like this i like it;)
Cheers mate! Thanks for ya support!
@@SarahandKeelanTravels Greetings from Austria mate!
Bloody struth mate your a long ways away! Good to know we have mates everywhere in the world!
Hi Guys.......came across your channel & watched this video with interest. We have recently taken delivery of a new Austrack Simpson Camper Trailer & have had very similar experiences with both the quality & especially customer service!! There is no doubt that Austrack has a good product, but a little more attention to the small details would make it an even better product......and it really would not take much or add much to the cost.
As for customer service, they definitely need to raise there game. I had an issue with the water pump on the trailer, as I considered it to be excessively noisy. After a phone call, they asked me to send a video of the problem, which I did. They then asked me to take the trailer back in to the Caboulture showroom & they would sort it out. (An hours drive each way from my home on the Sunshine Coast.) After they looked at the pump, I was told that "this is normal because of the pressure required for the shower"........which is just rubbish......and why couldn't they have told me that from the video I sent??
I have since replaced the pump & it is now nice & quiet & the shower still works just fine. Be interested to know how you find the water pump on your van.
Despite the disappointments with Austrack, we have been enjoying the trailer & the small mods we have made ourselves, have made a world of difference to our experiences!
Interesting that there are not any reviews on UA-cam for the Austrack Simpson Trailer either, apart from the ones posted by Austrack themselves.
Keep up the good work, look forward to seeing the videos of your travels around Oz!! Good luck!
Cheers for the the comment!
That’s ridiculous.. should of lodged a loss of time invoice for the fuel and the hour each way. I’m yet to invoice them of all my fixes. Caboolture showroom seem to be a fair way behind in customer service than Melbourne and NSW showrooms. We stopped dealing with them and just went to the other crews!
Good to know you got right up them about it though! It’s a good product just disappointing on the finer details which is what makes a product go from good to great.
Our pump isn’t to noisy. In fact can’t really hear it too much at all only initially on start up.
Good to see some fellow austrackers following our travels! Thanks for your support really appreciate it mate! We can’t wait to take off on our big lap! If you ever see us out and about make sure you give us a Oi and we can have a beer!
Have a look at lock your hubs video on hi lift Jack. Make the handle extension with one end cut at 45 degrees. Get the winch kit for it. Now that 12volt at back of van. Get the 25 watt oz light. Now on camp fire. Drive handle in ground. Now light will fit in lighting area. You have a spare winch with Jack. Russell
Thanks for the info Russel!
It's got everything but a generator (optional fridge) but you probably don't need one. Very nice!
Watch our new van walkaround mate! The austrack wasn’t cut out for full time abuse
Great review, thanks for sharing 👍
Where did the marks on the walls on the side of the bed area come from?
Chafing, it’s a flaw all the austracks have. Will discuss more in the review
Thanks for your support 🍻
Fantastic awesome legends well done fantastic setup 👍👍👍
Cheers mate! Your cruiser in your display picture looks like a beast!
Hey SB 👍 great little set up for there trip be good to watch there adventures Keelans Prado coming along as well, 👍👍👍
Cheers jay!! 🍻
Good luck on your lap. We upgraded to LIFEPO4 batteries and it made a world of difference. Keep it tidy
What brand lithium bat did you choose? How many amp hours? We are thinking of going 200amp of lithium!
@@SarahandKeelanTravels I used 2 x 160aH Victron LiFePO4 batteries.
Sounds good mate that’s a solid off grid setup!
This company needs a seller or two in the US. Overlanding is becoming very big here. I watched this whole video and got excited. Then disappointed when I went to their website. lol Well done. That looks like a very livable trailer.
I know right! A lot of people putting our content from the US! We would love to put out setup on a boat and travel your country!
They are made in China
Love it.
Cheers mate
Great review guys - what drew my attention to this particular van was the bed sits normally (north to south) - not the other way (east to west) also the main thing is the maximum amount of weight is 2.5T - we have been looking at the Stoney Creek 11 but the bed is wrong - very similar van to what you have. Appreciated the honesty with your review. Have you taken it on the beach or not a real 4wd track??? Very interested to know how it would perform. Safe travels guys
Hey graham, all the answers you are searching for are in our videos. We wouldn't recommend a Austrack though, in the end the warranty didn't mean much and that's half the reason we bought a new van. so we have upgraded since and couldn't be happier! look at our new van hybrid and if that's not for you go to stoney creek over austrack any day
Good review guys. Just a quick note about your Mchitch. In your walk around you spun the locking top very easy and it was hitched to you vehicle. That must be screwed into the top of the tow point and locked down using the lock pin to tighten it, otherwise your van is just only sitting on the towbar, not secured at all!!
K, I knew someone would pull me up on this! Haha very observant! What happened was I started un hitching the van for the walk around and then decided not to take it off! So I loosened it off and forgot to tighten it up again!
Surprised I didn’t cop more flack! Thanks guys ahah
@@SarahandKeelanTravels no worries!
great vid guys, but just some info re lithium batteries.. They are the way to go, 200aH will give you twice the capacity you have now and bear in mind while you are parked up, the only draw you will have on your system will be your fridge and maybe TV or sound system, and the solar will, in most cases , be supplying that use anyway plus feeding excess into your batteries, so the panels you currently have are very capable. Also, fitting a 40 amp DCDC charger will pump into your system as your driving so rarely will you pullup somewhere with less than 100% power...HOWEVER, your invertor is a HUGE user of power, but used in moderation is not a problem. If you are going to go to lithium, inform your supplier the wattage of your invertor because the lithiums they supply will have to have the rated current to supply it. i fitted 200aH lithium battery and 2x 150w panels to an older poptop van, along with a compressor upright fridge and they have advised they have never been below 65%...........Just something for you to think about....travel safe..
Thanks graham for the info!
I love the idea of lithium! Especially if we could run our aircon with it! I think we would need 300ah plus tho! We are planning on going enerdrive 40amp dcdc charger.
Either way lithium is the go! Not having to worry about power consumption would be awesome! We will probably go 200amp hour like you said and just bring a geni to run the aircon! On the hot days!
Can’t bloody wait!
@@SarahandKeelanTravels like your thinking. Running AC off lithium reqs lotsa aH,s, 300 aH would be a minimum , just bear in mind you cant run your generator in National parks and some other places, and dont get sucked into the Honda/ Yamaha ripp off units....plenty or good gens out there 1 third the price those thieves charge....
Can your solar panels go on a draw slide and double up when camped then U could go lithium
Great review. Thanks for sharing 👍
How does it towed? I ordered one and go a standard prado gxl. Wondering if I would need any mod on the prado’s suspension?
Glad you liked it!
Tows good! Dosnt sway or carry on however a fair few people say they have had trouble with the sway. It’s a lot heavier than I anticipated. In my opinion I think if you wanna tow a Offroad van with a lot of clearance you need upgrade your suspension in your towing vehicle to suit.
I run 400kg constant load suspension in the rear (stiff) with 2 inch lift all round. Works a treat and the car is level and not pointing upwards!
Thanks for your feedback. 👍
Sorry Keelan, your van named after famous desert in Australia...not pronounced Ta- na-me but pronounced Tan-am-i (i like eye), little thing and good vid, thanks👍
Haha yep I realised this after I watched the footage back! Funny what the camera can do to ya! I’m a confident fella and yeah it turns me into a puddle sometimes! Thanks for the pickup! Make sure you pull me up in the future too!! Haha
Nice car
Thank you!!
Thanks for the Review .... How do you rate the air conditioning ....is it good enough to keep you cool ?
Hey Para, cheers!
The aircon is good for the little space in a small van like ours but it would struggle on a bigger van I reckon! We loved our aircon and use it all the time
Great review guys!!
Just a thought re solar panels... could you attach slimline panels to the rear ‘hatch’ that lifts up when the bed extension is set up? May allow for a heap more solar if you decided to go lithium....
Just a thought!!
Thanks mate!
Your bang on the money there you can for sure and that’s what we will do if we go lithium! I also have the 80wat panel on my car roof which I can connect into the van! in addition to the 160 watt panel + the 300 on the roof of the van which is roughly 540wats of solar!
If that’s not enough I will be chucking some panels on the back wall!
@@SarahandKeelanTravels good stuff!! Just been through solar panel mounting / mppt solar regulators / battery’s etc with my parents for their Landcruiser Ute and van so it was on my mind!!!
Hi guys
What size tyres did you squeeze on your prado
How much lift do you run
Did you have to do ant trimming to fit those rims on
Great channel
Cheers
Hi Stuart they are 285/70/17 (33s) and yes you need to run a negative offset rim to make them fit and also trim the inside of the front guard out! Thanks mate!
مكرهناش شي واحد بحال هدا بصحة
Hey mate i like adevnture specially your camp trailer i wonder how much for that if you dont mind thanks and looking forward your more adventure
Cheers mate!
Yep she’s a little beauty!
It was 39k on special down from 41k!
Cheers for your support!
@@SarahandKeelanTravels that is a good price for what you get👍 it looks smick too
Thanks mate yeah she’s a ripper
Was this brand new when you picked it up and how much are they? oooh and I’m your newest subscriber
Yep brand spanking new!
They have a sale on now! Go to the Austrack website for prices on all their vans!
After all this rain on the East Coast recently, one question is, : how much noise over the bed when raining?
Not a lot surprisingly. However we have only been in light drizzle rain. WA it Dosnt rain all summer so will be interesting and I will let you know
Thank you that dust getting in a bit of a worry any idea where from and can it be sealed
Yeah it’s coming through the back door (fold out part) so I might have to tighten the compression locks a bit
@@SarahandKeelanTravels to solve dust ingress issue all you need to do is turn the ensuite exhaust fan on reverse which will put a positive pressure inside the van preventing the dust from entering.
I’m not sure how much this will work because it’s weak as buggery but we will give it a shot! Thanks for the tip mate! Really appreciate it
So it locks from the outside the bedroom area does so how will that keep people from opening it and robbing you? I would be scared of that or did I miss something?
Hey Mary!
Your right, you can padlock the rear fold part so this can’t happen! We havnt had any issues yet!! Don’t be scared haha
Hey guys I have a random question- which key opens the outside shower?? Also do you lock everything when you drive or just close the doors thanks in advance
Hey there should be a black and silver key on the keg set that says outdoor shower and yes we lock it all before driving!
@@SarahandKeelanTravels amazing thank you so much x
A fixed high roof would have been more convenient i think !
Yep! Sure would of been! Fixed back so no fold out even better
I would have thought the very first thing you do is unhitch it from your tow vehicle and get the thing levelled
In the real world yes but Not when demonstrating a setup video haha 😂
@@SarahandKeelanTravels Seems like it would be an important part of demonstrating setup
Would have thought the stabiliser legs go down first
Hey guys! What was the total cost of the vehicle mods?
Dunno mate, I reckon it would be between 15-20k

@@SarahandKeelanTravels well done ✔
Who told you, you need more solar for lithium??... If anything you can get away with less as lithium has a more efficient round trip (in and out) than agm/lead acid. Doesn't make any sense, I reckon whoever told you that was trying to sell you more solar.
mate UA-cam told me haha ironic right! I agree I’ve got enough I reckon.. might go a 200amp lithium setup! Should be heaps just for us!
👍🇦🇺🥳🍻
Thanks Dan
Ru able to disclose how much freight u paid ? Cheers 😎
We got it shipped to Adelaide and we paid 1500$
@@SarahandKeelanTravels oh bugger thought u got it shipped to Perth 🤪😎

Thanks for your kind comment, really appreciate it 🤙🏽
Why is this hybrid van and larger are branded in about six other so called makers ? The're the same.
I don’t quite follow? Are you saying they are the same vans with different brands?
@@SarahandKeelanTravels hi. Forbes, Jawa, iridium, maverick and Tanami and others come out of the same manufacturer over seas . Cheers
Yeah they sure do, unfortunately if I could buy Aussie made I would but would be looking at around 80k compared to 40k. If you compare all the extras they come with austrack is the one with the best value for money
@@SarahandKeelanTravels hi guys, not saying they are better than Aussie built, have heard of horror stories with Aussie vans. Get out and about and enjoy. Cheers.
Thanks mate! We will!
It would be much better if you could talk without using hmmm all the time!!!
This was one of our first videos. If you wanna see a transformation watch them all. We like to think we have gotten a little bit better
