Excellent point about relationships. We recently relocated to WY from the West Coast for retirement but gave Boise a close look. We didnt know anyone and still have few friends after six months. Biggest negative surprises have been the amount of xenophobia we've faced by locals, along with a couple of instances of unprovoked, insane road rage.
@@livinginidaho It was a close call but it came down to taxes. ID is lower than CA but NOT that much lower. Western WY, on the other hand, has significantly lower taxes. Over the years we spent a great deal of time in ID and twice owned vacation lots in the state. In the end, it was a very, very tough choice between Cody and Eagle.
It's sad that people who move from California are ostracized in other states. If not for a job, people are leaving because California no longer aligns with their values. Idaho was on my list along with 4 other states. I find it interesting that most Idaho realtors make videos on why not to come. In addition, I have absolutely no connections in Idaho, and I will never make friends if I move their alone.
@@wendeeb3883 Good points! During an extensive remodel we found several businesses cheated us by charging a (CA) price once they discovered we were from out of state. Changing license plates, buying a phone with a local area code, and being present on site for any work done helped with not being ripped-off.
In EVERY introductory conversation here in WY I will be asked "where do you live?", followed by, "where did you live before that?" I find this very, ah, different and unusual. Does the same occur in Boise?
It’s a little too late.. have you seen all the houses being built so damn close to each other going up everywhere around Boise…starting to look like California.
Can I Washington your Idaho? Californians already California'd our Washington to death. I promise I'm not a wacky leftist extremist. I just want somewhere quiet that doesn't force ideologies, hate guns, and we can be outdoors and chill.
Idaho grew too fast with the blessings of state and local governments. But if we were an actual democracy and had a plebicite vote on growth it wouldn't have happened so fast. So now, the people who don't want growth, have switched to plan B. No not the birth control lol. We have refused to approve any new services i.e. no increase in taxes or school bonds. And Idahoans if they come from the country, most of us, will just keep voting against any services that will support the growth. Nampa closed down several schools because the native population refused to support the bonds. Even some of the fire departments have want to merge between cities because the locals are refusing to pay for more. I am someone who goes to the city council meetings. The members are seeing dollar signs for themselves but are not representing their constituents. The people here are pretty nasty about out of towners behind closed doors. I have lived here for 32 years went to Riggins and had racial slurs thrown at me. I am part Asian. Your making money off of real estate or some service we need to be transparent.
Even We here in Idaho (natives) are moving from Idaho.... We are moving to arizona to retire or if your adventurous Alaska... Others leave because after moving here from liberal states they realize we won't take their liberal shite and move back to their liberal state where they feel at home paying $5.00 a gallon for gas....
I get it. Mass influx from CA to my home state has absolutely ruined things. Prices through the roof, they brought the same crappy politics that destroyed CA, and now no one can afford anything here if you aren't in tech. Then the politics engulfed us into a massive fentanyl and homeless crisis, leading to increased property crime, leading to pathetically ineffective state programs that accomplish nothing (read: higher taxes). So now we're CA Jr. I can see why people in other states are apprehensive about people moving from blue states. ESPECIALLY CA. I mean, it sucks, cause there's lots of people in these states that don't want to be there and wouldn't come screw it up for everyone else... but then there's lots that are oblivious to how their own actions created the piss poor, overpriced communities they're trying to flee from.
What about those of us who have lived here all our lives and don't align with the Republicans? Also telling people how they have to vote isn't very American.
Idaho is a year-around recreational paradise. But if you're not into the outdoors or don't like the four seasons, I can understand why Idaho isn't for you.

@ damn dude why so hostile? Nice way to treat someone who just got laid off
@@XterminatorIII I don’t care. Go somewhere else. I hope you find a great job somewhere else
i thinking of moving from iowa to idaho
The locals will tell you we are full go away. SO prepare yourself for that
People are leaving because of the locals
What people?
Apparently being born and raised in the Boise area creates nicer and more welcoming people according to the comments.
It's really sad to see.
Summers are brutal
They are, but to be fair it's a dry heat vs. hot and humid.
Its all about the outdoors, otherwise probably not a great fit for most
Road rage, traffic, and sprawling strip malls. What's not to love these days.
Current problem everywhere not just idaho is house cost to benefit rational. That being that its not rational at all.
We’re full.
Don’t worry, we checked - Idaho just ordered an extra shipment of mountains, rivers, and potatoes. Plenty of room for everyone!
Pathetic loser
Excellent point about relationships. We recently relocated to WY from the West Coast for retirement but gave Boise a close look. We didnt know anyone and still have few friends after six months. Biggest negative surprises have been the amount of xenophobia we've faced by locals, along with a couple of instances of unprovoked, insane road rage.
Relationships is a big deal. Glad to hear you found a place to call home in Wyoming. What made you choose Wyoming of Idaho?
@mattdecker6791 Very intuitive. Thanks for the tip.
In EVERY introductory conversation here in WY I will be asked "where do you live?", followed by, "where did you live before that?" I find this very, ah, different and unusual. Does the same occur in Boise?
Yes. We're looking for the Californians
People can stop moving here
please leave…make room for me. I can’t wait to move to Idaho from Colorado.
we are in process of moving from CO - can't stand CO liberal politics any longer - need to spend my retirement years in a conservative state.
nah you stay in CO. Leave some room for us. We need to get out of WA.
Who's moving into California?
Without even watching the video I’ll tell you why, it’s too effing cold!!!
@@heavydoseoftruth386 lol the winters aren’t for everyone
Cold? I'm one of the bike riding weirdos in the -12F temps. Been doing it since the 1980s. (stay off my lawn)
The J walker ? Obviously he was from California
@@rictech. No doubt.

Don’t California my Idaho!
@@helok9 thanks for watching
It’s a little too late.. have you seen all the houses being built so damn close to each other going up everywhere around Boise…starting to look like California.
It’s not YOUR Idaho it’s OUR Idaho and change is inevitable.
You’re pathetic
Can I Washington your Idaho? Californians already California'd our Washington to death. I promise I'm not a wacky leftist extremist. I just want somewhere quiet that doesn't force ideologies, hate guns, and we can be outdoors and chill.
Bye 👋
Idaho is a secret sanctuary state, so keep that in mind. It's Mexico without the beaches.
Actually people are moving to Idaho from CA and probably are staying, they can't all leave
@@donnavaughn9409 you’re correct.
I did three months ago. I love it! ❤
Dude keep your hands on the wheel.
If you’re a liberal keep moving Idaho is full!!😊
Its growing to fast horrible unaffordable apartments !!
Say Boise and I'll tell you if you belong in Idaho.
You’re a loser
Grew up in Idaho, I say Boizeeeeeeeee. That cool with you?
@@jefflebowski3319 no.
Wow, the comments seem to show how not nice the natives are.
The people around Boise are five times nicer than the Portland area. So it's all relative
Yes there's some pretty c***** comments here
Pls, pls go away. We are all begging.
@@rickyism1576 some people do leave. Some people stay.

This might be the most pathetic comment I’ve ever read. Stay in your house you grump
Too many conservatives! Very red state. No abortions, and everyone carries a gun! Plus low wages, hot summers, and freezing winters
Come here at the expense of others. Appreciate that. Don’t come here, locals typically don’t like you even though we are kind to you.
Please leave. So happy to hear when people leave. Good riddance
If you are going to live in Idaho you vote Republican i will not have my state turn into a California dump.
Dictating how other people should vote based on where they live doesn't sound very democratic.
@@PizzaRatPicker Right wingers don't like democracy
What about those of us who have lived here all our lives and don't align with the Republicans?
Also telling people how they have to vote isn't very American.
Idaho native and I will use my freedom to vote how I like, don't you go telling people what to do😤
That’s a really screwed up attitude!
Because most people in Idaho are RUDE AND RACIST, and also they Don't allow weed in this state 😉😆
Really tell us where you think that people are nice. And you must be quite young because legal weed is still relatively new everywhere in the US
You've never met most people in idaho, so how do you know how they act?
Get out!

There is nothing to do in Idaho and its freezing cold no thanks
Idaho is a year-around recreational paradise. But if you're not into the outdoors or don't like the four seasons, I can understand why Idaho isn't for you.
Winter doesn't last the whole year. 😂
