Pro-Tip: If your boyfriend/Girlfriend/Partner always tells you your hair is boring and wants you to change it, go ahead, make the change of getting a new, more exciting partner. Nobody needs that kind of rude-ass manipulation in their lives.
Yep, totally. And I‘m sure he is making her situation now even more worse, so put him away… Such people aren‘t worth it. He can have his own opinion, but to tell it someone and to want someone changing for his own taste is awful. Poor girl… This mess just for a jerk, I really feel sorry for her.
Kinda insecure, aren't you? Sometimes partners want to change their other half for better. Probably never heard of boyfriend/girlfriend effect😂😂😂 My fiancé supported and gave me a lot of confidence to grow my hair. I always dreamed of long hair and I finally grew them. I get lots of compliments because they are well maintained and healthy. That makes me feel so much better 😊
@@wero1799 okay but the comment wasnt about you and your fiance. There's a clear difference between being supportive/encouraging, and telling her she's boring so she should change herself to suit his tastes. You clearly missed the point and made it all about you and your situation. 🙄
The most important thing is not what the Salon looks like. It’s whether the Salon is scrupulously hygienic and clean. And whether the hairdresser/stylist is a fully qualified professional and knows what the heck they are Really doing. Also it’s the attitude of the hairdresser/stylist. Do they treat you with respect. Do they listen to you. And do they respectfully discuss with you what would Really suit you ( having said that. That ultimately at the end of the day they give the client what they want if it’s possible ). A warm cosy looking Salon is useless if it doesn’t give the aforementioned. Some of the most clinical looking Salons are the most warmest cosy Salons and that’s because they have the most Fabulous Friendly and Respectful and Knowledgeable Hairdressers/Stylists in the world. Hairdressers/Stylists you would trust your life with…… ⚛️☮️🌏
It’s one thing to see people ruin their own hair, but it’s SCANDALOUS when a hairdresser does it. This is awful. She trusted someone she SHOULD be able to trust.
THANK YOU for saying that if a client only wants a tiny bit taken off, you must not take off more without their consent, even if you personally think it would be better! After all, it's their hair and they have to live and be happy with it. There is nothing worse than a hairdresser who breaks their client's trust by chopping off more than was agreed on!
My ex SIL did that to me. She would come over and cut everyone's hair (she was licensed). I didn't even want a cut, but said what the heck, I'll get a trim. She decided I needed 4 inches off. I was furious.
Exactly! Years ago i went in for a trim of my waist lenght hair And the first cut I felt was metal against my neck And immediately felt the cut. I am still furious about it. To this day i refer to him as Edward Scissor Hands
But if you go to a professional and ignore the advice, don't be surprised I'd things go wrong, if you went to a doctor and he said you need surgery, don't be surprised if physiotherapy doesn't work
@@karencooper3428 a bit overdramatic response. Your own personal clothing, makeup and hairstyle choices dont compare to having surgery 😂😂😂 I am a little shocked at myself for responding to this message.....but I continue...Also, all of our above messages where not about not taking advice...we were never given the option. Edward scissorhands made the decision for me.
I am the queen of telling stylist to stop or leaving if it’s not not going well. I refuse to let someone mess up my hair. People need to not be scared to tell the stylist to stop!! It’s YOUR hair and your money. Period!
I'm trying to teach myself to be more assertive. Even when my food is wrong, I could be allergic and I wouldn't say anything. I also have lots of tattoos and a few i hate but never had the balls to say anything 😭
yuh, and I wonder how the boyfriend who pressured her to change her hair feels about the result. I really hope she goes to someone else, does a color correction and a big chop but this is not her fault as she tried to vet her stylist. the only thing she could have done better is to speak up more quickly, but I don't know that it would have changed the overall outcome
That’s when she should have told him to stop. That was the first sign of disaster coming, yet she didn’t say a word. She was crying and he did nothing but add to it by chopping more.
As someone who is SUPER close to graduating from cosmetology school (3 months), I'm just SO glad that I've been close attention in class and even MORE happy that I've found your channel while I'm still in school. I was noticing all the problems you were pointing out right away, and that just confirms to me that I've really been retaining the information I've been getting from school, and from YOU! Thank you for everything you do, you're an AMAZING teacher! 👏❤👏❤👏
Good luck in your future as a stylist!! Its loads of fun when you get to do colours 💜💙💚 on people. My moms a stylist,(80 years old and still doing a few clients a week); my niece is training.
As a hairstylist I can tell you HairBuddha is hands down the best!!! *And* he gives the BEST advise and the info and his judgement is always 100% accurate!!!! Don't listen to these "hairstylist" that have graduated from you tube university they don't know crap!!!
@@ella_cinder4361 Your mom is amazing to still be a hair artist at 80! Wow. Maybe you can make a video of her and share. I think she'd inspire so many others
I asked a hairdresser once to just take off the dead ends and freshen up the layers. We both agreed that I needed to take off 2 inches and I was fine with that. When she was getting started she said that I needed to stand up during the haircut because my hair was too long she said. My hair had been longer than it was at that time and I never needed to stay standing for a haircut before. I thought it was strange, but went ahead since I really needed a cut. She wound up cutting over 6 inches and I was upset. She was nonchalant about it and said it'll grow back. Didn't offer a discount or anything for not giving me what I wanted. It wasn't a bad cut, but 6 inches of hair is a lot to lose when you're trying to get your hair even longer.
I asked for 3 inches off and when I left, she had taken 11 inches off. She acted like nothing was wrong. I cried for weeks. It ended up being so choppy, I had to go get it redone by someone else who said the only way to truly fix it was to take off a few more inches. Had hair down to my hips, ended with it up at my collar bone.
@@jerseytomato100 “Can you please take off your glasses?” BAM! I’m blind, literally blind. Can’t see the E on the top of the eyechart; can’t even tell what wall the eyechart could be pinned to. 🤷🏻♀️
Honestly, she sounds like she has the wrong boyfriend not hair. Her natural hair was beautiful, just needed some layers and styling, with some natural balayage highlights. The stylist did a crappy job, like a beginning hair student, not even.
Yeah I've had my hair styled by students and they did AN AMAZING JOB. The bleach was a little patchy but they managed to cut my hair EXACTLY like how I drew out my design. So this guy just sucks.
This is exactly why I have trust issues with getting my hair cut. Last time I went I said to cut 3-4 cm or inch and a half. Went from long hair to above sholeders in a matter of seconds. Woman just grabbed half my hair and cut 20 cm off (8 inches). I was in shock and all I could see was my mom in the mirror, her eyes almost poping off her eyesockets and more than half my hair in the womans hands. She had the nerve to ask if that was enough, while I told her 3 times that I only want to cut an inch or two. Might as well f up my hair for free by myself instead to pay someone to do it.
I am mean. I cut a strip of paper to the length I will allow to be cut off. I also take my ruler. I show it to the stylist and say "This is the maximum I want cut off." When they make their first cut, I ask to see what was cut off. I apologetically say I got a bad cut once where they cut so much off now I'm scared. They all comply.
This is a big fear of mine with new stylists, and I will take note when I have a consult of how well they seem to listen and how pushy they seem to be. I definitely like to know what they think I should have trimmed off, but I also expect for them to respect whatever my final wish is for how much to cut.
Me toooo I still have trauma around it. My waist length hair was magically at my shoulders.. I still torment myself wanting to destroy their business like they destroy peoples hair.
Right though? That's straight up rude af. He could've shut up, or found a nicer way to communicate that HE was bored with her hair. Her hair wasn't boring. He was bored with it. BIG DIFFERENCE.
Watching these trips to the salon makes me want to hug my wonderful expert hair dresser. I do hug her often but this really makes me want to make a trip just to hug her.
You knew it was headed into the danger zone when you didn't see sectioning before cutting... I am honestly very grateful the cut turned out the way it did because anything could have happened with just taking hair from wherever 😱 the color is totally fixable though, so the outcome is challenging but not a total disaster. ❤️ I was scared there for a moment 😆
I was so tired of bad hair cuts and coloring that I had to learn how to do it myself, and since then my hair is healthy and growing like never before. You don’t only need to like what you do, you need to love it and that love and passion will show in your clients hair🌺
I feel this is how most salons in the U.S. are. I go in with chest length hair, ask for a trim, end up with chin length hair. I go in wanting a dark ash brown with highlights. I leave with dark brown and two orange streaks in the front.
I think it’s the training I’m a hairdresser in Australia and we do a 4 year apprenticeship From what I understand online a cosmetology licence in the US that covers hair, nails, beauty and makeup takes 12 months ! How can anyone perfect their craft in 12 months ?
Here in our state of Utah, I believe it's 2,000 hour of training/practice then take a test to get your certificate? Still not enough, as I cut my own hair after many disappointing experiences.
@@amandarobbins2530 you are correct, not nearly enough and not fair to us. Luckily I was living in the city and had the opportunity of attending continuing education classes.
I love your explanations of why certain colour changes are not possible and why it is not possible to achieve the colour in a photo. Non-hairdressers like me really need this stuff explaining so we get it. Otherwise you think the hairdresser is just being difficult.
It makes me so sad to see people end up with stylists like this who can't seem to communicate effectively. My aunt is a stylist and salon owner and has done my hair my whole life. She still talks me through everything, every time, just to be sure we're on the same page. If I tell her to cut however much needs to be cut for my hair to be healthy, she physically shows me how much that will be. If we're coloring my hair, she asks if I want to change anything and shows me what it's likely to look like. I just don't understand the total lack of communication on this stylist's part😬
Some people think that 'speaking truthfully' means manifestation into reality and not just description of reality. I'm sorry, but I am very certain that she got exactly what she asked for: layed ombre with a slight curl. Even the shocking thumbnail comparison - take into account her natural hair colour and lack of curls... It's what she asked for. I'm not a professional, but I'm pretty certain about my opinion on this one
I didn’t really hate the first color, but the ‘fixed’ color, oh my god. Hideous. And that cut! When she turned around and showed the back - that was just bad. I’ve had a few bad experiences at the salon, but that was one of the worst weed-cutter haircuts I’ve ever seen.
Omg! You are in the barber room! I have always been curious about where you were and it's finally been revealed. I liked this upload. Having so much of the good stuff right at the start isn't as entertaining as reacting to it at the same time as you.
My long time stylist/friend is always completely honest with me about my expectations whenever I decide to go for a new color variation. Sometimes it’s a process to achieve the final result, but she always explains it to me. She’s an amazing stylist, and I’ve always been super happy with my hair, but it’s so true that much of it is because she has always communicated to me about the processes we will need to go through to achieve a final result.
You know it's bad when someone who knows nothing about cutting hair (me) is watching and goes "he didn't even brush through that big chunk of- oh no why is he cutting that?!" :'D Also I've never seen those hair color "swatches" before and they look so cool!
Consult, consult and consult again! Before you touch a hair on anyones head. And full history of hair processes with timeline (a colour doesn't grow out in 2 months!) To all clients... demand this level of service. You deserve it. X
Phew, this cut 😱😱😱 This is where actually curly haired people have an advantage (like myself), so that worst case scenario you do not see how choppy it is thanks to the curls 😅
This is why, as the child of a hairdresser, I'm doing my research and doing MY OWN HAIR. I'd rather spend less, and only be upset with myself if I screw it up lol
This is why I stopped going to salons. They never give me the cut I want, even with a bunch of pictures and I’m always disappointed. I am not very picky and the cuts I ask for are basic, like a blunt bob or something, when I ask to thin out the bottom they always cut layers even though I say NO layers. I just want it thinned out. I just do it myself, if I mess it up at least it’s free.
Similar situation happened to me at an Aveda salon outside Washington D.C. I spent $340 and many tears. All I wanted was balayage with heavy highlights. My hair is a Neutral tone level 8/7.5 naturally so its very easy to work with! I somehow ended up with level 6 redfish roots and honey colored ends. Thankfully I spoke up and got it fixed! (Ashy Level 8 root, with level 10 soft baby lights throughout) Long story short though, I’ve been doing my own hair ever since. 🥴
Similar situation, a have alot of hair, wavy, virgin ash blond hair. I know what might be possible with my hair and what is not. I feel bad because I explain and I am very specific, something that I think I shouldn't need to explain, but do just in case. SO, I have learned to cut my own hair from videos and I have done a better job than professionals (I understand, maybe I need to go to higher end salons. Because I know there are amazing artists in the hair industry! Way better than what I do to my hair, but . . .)
Quite a long time ago now: Lots of fine medium-dark brown hair that had violet put over it (the color shone in the sun but was stealthy under crap office lighting.) I went to an expensive salon for a treatment to put it back to my natural color and some repair so I could grow it out from a bob. The owner did my hair, but I waited ages and ages. It was a dual appointment with a friend and we were sat at opposite ends of the salon, but then they made me wait until she was done before starting on me. There were no other customers, the other hairdresser was just hanging out. They opened a bottle of champagne everyone had a glass (while at work, begore cutting my hair?? I should have left, but I wanted to spend time with my friend.) It didn't turn out an unsalvageable mess, but between telling me that I absolutely should not adopt because I'll get [racist code words] child addicted to hard drugs and being absolutely certain they were gossiping about me (because they were gossiping about my friend when they got to me) I was not terribly happy with the service. For the cut: the layering was much more than I'd ever had despite saying I was growing it out and put it up for work. After a few days I realized that without a lot of product the shorter pieces were just permanent flyaways. A French braid was the only way to put it up for work without them escaping because of how short some of it was, with less than half my hair going past my shoulders anymore. Hair nets [ugh so hot and ugly] were what I had to deal with for a long time. But the worst part! For months after I got uncountable calls, texts, and emails harassing me to make my next appointment. Instead of doing that I called to cancel the one I had made that day and eventually blocked their number after they started up again a year later. 🙃 I've never had to block a small business before or since.
It took me a while to realize that my idea of long and short are very different from my hairdresser's. lol. First I'd only let her take a centimeter, but after years of gaining my trust, she'll look at me and say, "Today it's time for the big sacrifice" and I sigh and say, "Do what you have to do". - and thanks to her, my hair looks great. ;)
I love it when Hair Buddha breaks out the "Big Book Of Hair"!!! 📖 I always learn something. I definitely thought that color was brown but I've learned the truth! 🙂
Thank you I have learned a LOT!!! I'm going in for a balayage next week but I now know that my hair is dark brown and not dark ash blonde. So now I'll talk with the hairdresser about different ideas. But I was going for something similar this girl went for and now I know not to do that because it won't come out that way. Also I learned how to scream: "SECTIONS!!!!" at the screen. Thank you so much Hair Buddha.
Having experienced hackers on my long but fine hair, I finally learnt to say "Stop!" Your common sense tells you that that dude shouldn't even be allowed to cut a hedge with his lucky packet qualifications. Yikes.
HB: Regarding hair color, just show/tell the client what YOUR color measurement stick is--those swatches and that helps. That way you and the client are on the same page! I completely get it. Makes sense!
What a hair dresser considers short and what a girl who keeps hair long enough to reach her lower back considers short hair. For years my sister considered hair that reached her bra strap on her back (so middle of her back) to be a short hair cut. I considered hair cut just above my shoulders to be short and a hair dresser told me that was considered medium length. This really helped me to know how to communicate to a hair dresser.
OMG I'd be so upset if my stylist considered that much hair a trim! I'll never forget the story my friend's sister told me about her worst haircut. She had beautiful long healthy hair that she'd been growing out and it was maybe halfway down her back. She discussed the cut with the stylist and told her she wanted just a trim. She flicked her hair back with her hands just above her shoulders, the way you do when you have long hair to put it all behind your shoulders. The stylist decided that where her hands had touched her hair was where she wanted it cut, and chopped her waist length hair to chin length!! Stylist said she thought that she was motioning to where she wanted the hair to be cut. The girl got really upset but there was no saving it and she had to go short! I can't believe some stylists seem to not know what clients mean by "just a trim" and don't even ask before they take multiple inches off.
I am not a hairdresser but I am an painting artist and I can remix every paint tone just by seeing it and just with 3-5 basic colours. And as I saw the wanted picture my first thought was "girl your hair is too dark and red, if you want this tone they should bleach it first until red is gone" The most people don't see the included pigments they just see red but I can say if it is possible to get pink with this red or not. Because I see if there is yellow or not included.
Experiences like this are why I learned how to do hair. When my hair grew back after chemo, it was uneven and thin at the ends and really gross looking. For the first time in 20 years, I scheduled an appointment to get it cut because I did not have the strength to do it myself at that point. Covid shut everything down a few weeks before my appointment. I took that as my sign, don't go back. I had my husband cut it. He was so scared of messing up he ONLY did what I told him to. I had just gotten my hair back (I am 6 foot tall and had waist length hair pre-cancer, my hair was my baby) and he didn't want to cut too much off or mess it up. He did a fantastic job. That was 2020. Now, almost 2 years later, he's still the only person that has cut my hair since it came back. He is a nervous wreck every time, but he always does super great. I have bleached and dyed it a few times in the last year, but when it comes to cuts he takes care of that for me.. I have taken my kids a few times to get cuts, but always end up fixing it because one side is 2 inches longer than the other or the layers are very choppy in the worst way. My husband is military so I fade and cut his hair at least once a month. When I was on chemo, I couldn't cut their hair. In the 2 years I was on chemo, between the 3 of them (husband and 2 kids), there was 1 haircut that actually turned out good. Moral of the story. Put a lot of effort in to finding a hair dresser. My experience is there are more bad ones than good ones. And if you can't find a good one, learn to do it yourself. It's a lot of effort but the payoff is worth it in the end. I hope this person was able to find someone to fix her hair, the end result was not okay.
This is crazy to me, I’ve had the same stylist for 13 years and we still spend 30 minutes when I arrive talking about what I want even though I get the same color every time we STILL spend the time to talk about it and then I don’t even look at my hair until she’s done and I don’t think I even tell her how to trim my hair, that’s called trust between clients and stylist. Girl get you a stylist and stick with them because it’s definitely a struggle out here. My stylist knows my hair, she knows what it can take and how far to go, she will tell me straight up if I want to try something new and she thinks it’s going to damage my hair or not be realistic in the long term. It cost money but realistically it’s cheaper than the alternative I pay 150-160 and like every 3 months depending maybe 4 months. Get you a stylist!
I love watching your reaction to the videos you show, you really make me laugh. Thank you for putting a smile on my face. Best wishes from Shropshire, England x
Oh my last salon experience was even worse then this. It was BAD. So bad I’m done with hair salons. I’ve noticed that allot of hair dressers can’t use bleach properly.
Had a good chuckle when I bleached my hair yesterday, I couldn't find one of my whisks to mix it, so I used a wooden stick applicator for waxing instead, and couldn't help but think "I am disappointing Hair Buddha" lol (came out well, though, so no complaints in the end)
It does take a long time to find a good hairdresser/stylist I had to go to alot of different salons to find mine but it was definitely worth it 💖 thankyou for another wonderful video sending love and light to you and your family 💖 always
I feel so bad for her. She didn't even wanted an haircut, she just did it for her idiotic boyfriend and she ends up looking like this. Edit: thank you for the little class on hair colors. I always thought I was light brown, but I'm a #8 blonde.
I dyed my hair black when I was 16 and it made me look like a vampire. What I wanted was dark brown, which actually makes my skin look more tan. That was a hard lesson learned.
Oh man! All the crazy things I did when I was 16 to my hair. And now my son is doing the same. He has bright pink hair and is wanting bleach tips. I said no but we are actually having more fun than ever just hanging out and experimenting with his hair. My girls never let me do this and when my son turned out to be a cis straight male, I thought fun hair stuff was over, but we have a great time together just being silly.
And this ladies and gentleman is why I haven't been to a salon in almost 20 years; I just don't trust them. Maybe I have some hairdresser logic in my dna but I've been cutting and colouring my own hair for a long time and only once have I ever needed to be rescued from a colour flop. (Black henna is not real henna) I even went platinum blonde once from dark blonde and it went totally fine but I read and followed the directions, maybe that's the difference.
Yep..I relate to that! Do you too have long hair by any chance? I haven't been to the hairdresser in about 6-7 yrs lol..I follow a Brad Mondo ' lockdown hair cutting guide's video..holy crap the trim ( 2 inches ) I took off my long hair I impressed myself.lol x
Very interesting to see what colors are labeled as on a chart as opposed to how people would describe them. I would definitely have said the dark blonde color swatch you held up was medium brown. Goes to show what a stylist envisions is different from a client. I guess it's important to have a color chart in front of you when discussing what color you really want. Same thing with length- have a ruler available so you can say "this is what 2 inches is". But like other people said, if this was all because of a rude a-hole boyfriend saying your color is boring, then the first chop to make is him!
Some of the interpretations of color differences might be a regional too. In the US my natural color (think Let Go-era Avril Lavigne, or Emily Blunt in Into the Woods) was considered blonde, but I come for Finland so when I think blonde I think Khaleesi, Elle Fanning in The Great etc.
My hair base is like the girl in the pic... definitely dark ash blonde but so many ppl think when I grow my hair out it's brown.. I'm always having to correct.. if you compare the tones of brown hair to dark blonde hair you'll def see the difference..also by the way it lightens
@@amandaashley8631 Exactly. My hair is light brown but the ones in the chart look darker (I think it's a difference between one swatch and a look on the whole head). My light brown is similar in lightness with a dark ashy blonde, but in reality the dark blondes look different than mine light brown. There's different hue to it, different color reflexes, mine are more brassy/browny than ashy. It's light, but definitely brown.
Your experience/explanation is so precise...to the viewers and that’s how it has to be with the clients ,during the consultation exactly too.well done sir👏. What I’d really like to see is the color correction video.
I always love your explanations. So helpful! I’m also glad to know that I was right when I told my best friend she had blonde hair - she claims it’s brown but it’s even lighter than the dark ash blonde!
I feel for her! The same thing happened to me. I got something from my hairdresser that I neither wanted nor asked for. I wanted caramell brown highlights. I even shoed the hair dresser a picture. What I got is a Bayalage with really light (!) blond. You have no idea how shocked I was when I was how light my hair was! The blonde has ruined my natural brown hair (despite intensive care!). The hair dresser later even complained and wondered why my hair was so dry... The only thing I can do is let it grow out and be patient. I'm so angry and sad. I ended up changing the hair salon.
I have the world's best hairdresser. I've been going to him ever since he got his first job in a salon. After 15 years I just tell to do what ever he wants (we've become friends outside of the salon) and he knows me so well he knows what I will like. He's a natural and a genius! He's not fast, but every time I get home my husband says "Ooooh, Travis is a genius".
So thankful I’ve learned to love and leave my beautiful brown hair alone. And thankful for a great stylist when i need her and she’s honest. If i have an idea she’ll tell me the steps and as a client we gotta understand the color wheel lol or just trust them (when they’re good) Hopefully that made sense 🙂💜
....at least her hair is no longer boring. The color thing can be confusing. For the majority of my life, I thought I had natural light brown hair, until I asked my hair stylist for products that would help keep my hair from bleaching so much in the sun. She led me straight to the blond section for some UV protection. I was about to protest, because I had always considered myself a brunette. But I when I got home, I looked up some professional color charts online, and sure enough, I'm dark blond.
It's styled hair. It looks so good on her I love the cut. Even though the highlights aren't amazingly well done. It looks a lot better than what she started out with! I think her hair looks great!
I recently went to a new stylist to get a similar balayage done and ended up with highlights...It would have been ok if she had listened to where I wanted the color to start, but she took them so close to my roots. Then, she charged me $50 extra to "smudge" the color so it would "blend" with my natural ash brown hair, but the smudge toner turned the area brassy. She did manage to tone the ends ashy like I wanted, but overall it just looked a bit odd. I've since washed my hair a few times and its settled down, but its still not what I was after and I'm considering my options going forward. She is great at cutting hair, but coloring clearly isn't her strong suit. I'll be sure to seek out a seasoned pro next time I attempt coloring my hair...
Her hair looked way better before she asked him to fix it again. If you are getting ur hair done & they just start chopping it off & u don't want that stop them immediately! The layering could have been better. She did ask for layers tho. I don't think she understood the difference in the colors from what she wanted to what she has. Of course it's gonna be different. Find a stylist you can trust & communicate good with. Communication is key!
Yes I learned! Have a measurements already planned, including how high I want balayage to come up. Maybe have a string with knots representing those lengths. I probably have light med 🤎 with a lot of grey and natural red highlights. I could wish the greys were a bit less localized right above my ears 😏 but I am dramatic enough to flaunt them. So we suit well enough. Always a jammin' time learning from you. Be well! 😘💕
I went to a new stylist and showed him a photo of a haircut I wanted, he said absolutely not, he followed up with my hair type is very different from the girl in the photo as well as my face shape. He gave me a few suggestions and I was thankful.
Thank you for telling the first girl in the picture has natural dark blonde hair not brown many people have no idea of what natural dark blonde hair look like .
I’m not a hairdresser but I think her hair looks so good! Ok going to amend this statement. Now that she’s showing her hair with no curls . Wow. Chopped.
I've had nightmare haircuts. One time I asked for a trim, and told the hairdresser not to make the top too short because my hair is thin and see through. So what did I get? A mullet. No kidding. It took a year to grow out. Now I trim it myself.
Once I went to a salon in West London where they claimed to have an extensive celebrity clientelle for over 10 years. I asked for a perm (curling) which I got. For 2 hours! I went back and showed them my hair was straight again and I wanted a refund. They offered to give me treatment. I said, no thanks, I want a refund. Which I eventually got. I paid for a perm, I got a temp 😂 I was soooo annoyed.
The first and last time I cut my hair, I was in Jr. High and I tried to trim my bangs. Yeah, that didn't come out that well, but my hair grows fast thankfully. Videos like this remind me why it's so important to build a relationship with your hair stylist, be consistent, and discuss what you can or cannot do. Besides her color not coming out correctly, the cut alone looks pretty choppy. I wonder if she researched the technique itself or did she just find a picture of what she wanted the outcome to look like?
My mom is a retired hairstylist for health reasons so she doesn't do her hair anymore, she became a hairstylist bcs of these people that screwed her hair a lot of times and I remember this REALLY memorable time after having me she starting to care for herself again, grew her hair beautifully till hips and decided to get it trimmed and straightened...the woman CUT her hair up to neck in one go, fried her hair asked a lot $ for all this horrible things and had the audacity of keeping her hair to SELL!! My mom cried for weeks and stayed with a really low self-esteem for a long time. Since then she gave the cutting and trimming her hair power in my 7/8 yo at the time hands...she's happy with the results most of the time tho thank God
The biggest issue clients/hairstylists have, is lack of communication and a vast difference in knowledge. My mom is a stylist, and I've learned to ask for 1 inch because I know she'll take 2. And when it comes to colour; looking at the colour charts and asking questions. I have dark blonde hair. (With quite a bit of grey now). I also have red undertones, which are undetectable with the naked eye. Anything golden will go yellow 💛 or orange 🧡 or red ❤. Communication is key. Schedule an extra 15 minutes for discussion, if your going for something different than your usual. 😉
I've encountered the "people thinking their clearly medium/dark blond hair is brown" problem where I live, but on the English speaking part of the internet the only blond in existence seems to be bleach/platinum/maybe very light blond? For once, I would like to find a video of someone colouring their naturally blond hair 😒
I've never gone to a salon and I don't plan to. These sorts of videos where I see what goes wrong makes me glad I just cut my own and don't color it 😂 thank you for explaining how to fix things!
Thank you for updating me on seeing your salon!! I'm very patient so I can wait..lol. but I love watching your content..even your travel channel.. but all I'm gonna say for now is chachos...😊
Pro-Tip: If your boyfriend/Girlfriend/Partner always tells you your hair is boring and wants you to change it, go ahead, make the change of getting a new, more exciting partner. Nobody needs that kind of rude-ass manipulation in their lives.
My thoughts exactly.
Bingo
Yep, totally. And I‘m sure he is making her situation now even more worse, so put him away… Such people aren‘t worth it. He can have his own opinion, but to tell it someone and to want someone changing for his own taste is awful. Poor girl… This mess just for a jerk, I really feel sorry for her.
Perfect 🤣😂
Well said 👍
when a partner tells you “change *X* it’s boring” it really means “i’m comparing you to others & they’re winning”
@@wero1799 I think you're way overexplaining, which sounds like nervous projection to me.

Lovely brown hair is NOT boring! It looked very nice before she went to the salon 🧡
Indeed
yuh, and I wonder how the boyfriend who pressured her to change her hair feels about the result. I really hope she goes to someone else, does a color correction and a big chop but this is not her fault as she tried to vet her stylist. the only thing she could have done better is to speak up more quickly, but I don't know that it would have changed the overall outcome
Exactly it was beautiful like it was
Yesss. Took me so long to learn to love my hair. ❤️
I wonder if her boyfriend was one of those people painting natural hardwood fun and interesting colors.
My mouth literally fell open when he made that first chop!!!
Indeed
That’s when she should have told him to stop. That was the first sign of disaster coming, yet she didn’t say a word. She was crying and he did nothing but add to it by chopping more.
I cut my daughter's hair much better than that. In 2cm thin combed sections. Not professional but way better than what this poor woman got.
If my boyfriend told me my hair was boring, I would reply, "Do you want me to tell you what is boring? YOU."
Well I once wanted a layered bob and ended up with a bixie. I didn't went to a hairdresser for 3 years after that.
How does this happen? They cut it in front of a mirror. I watch every snip to make sure they don't take off too much.
@@jerseytomato100 “Can you please take off your glasses?” BAM! I’m blind, literally blind. Can’t see the E on the top of the eyechart; can’t even tell what wall the eyechart could be pinned to. 🤷🏻♀️
I really wonder if those who cut 6 inches instead of 1 or 2, failed elementary school. That’s really basic.
My daughter has her Mum trim her ends after so many bad cuts.
Me toooo I still have trauma around it. My waist length hair was magically at my shoulders.. I still torment myself wanting to destroy their business like they destroy peoples hair.
I wound not of payed 😢 the hairdresser f#*ked your hair up I also would of taken them to court
This video was amazing! The boyfriend though... I give him one star. He literally tell her that her hair was boring 😒
Right though? That's straight up rude af. He could've shut up, or found a nicer way to communicate that HE was bored with her hair. Her hair wasn't boring. He was bored with it. BIG DIFFERENCE.
Wow he was honest 😂 I understand that most people prefer to be lied too😂😂
@@wero1799 Most ppl prefer someone who cares about them.
@@juls9553 telling someone they’d look better with different hair is not “not caring” about them 🙄
Watching these trips to the salon makes me want to hug my wonderful expert hair dresser. I do hug her often but this really makes me want to make a trip just to hug her.
Her partner calling her hair boring makes me really sad 😢 leave your hair how YOU like
You knew it was headed into the danger zone when you didn't see sectioning before cutting... I am honestly very grateful the cut turned out the way it did because anything could have happened with just taking hair from wherever 😱 the color is totally fixable though, so the outcome is challenging but not a total disaster. ❤️ I was scared there for a moment 😆
I actually thought it looked really nice before she went back. I get it’s not what she wanted but I wish mine looked that thick and beautiful!
I agree with you!
Yeah at least the ones I've been to are the same way.
I think it’s the training
I’m a hairdresser in Australia and we do a 4 year apprenticeship
From what I understand online a cosmetology licence in the US that covers hair, nails, beauty and makeup takes 12 months ! How can anyone perfect their craft in 12 months ?
Yes! It’s so difficult finding good and professional hairdressers 😩
HB you are so soft, educative and kind in your reactions. It's a joy to watch your videos, truly! Thank you for another great video!
This is why I have 1 hair dresser….I will never change. She knows what I like and does her job very well.
Notice at around 9:09 she actually said, "I just want like shortish layers".. So she did ask, at some point for more than just a 1cm "trim"..
My favourite part of this video is Hair Buddha having had enough of the "she had brown hair" and busting out the catalogue 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ahahahaha, he was so serious while emphatically pointing at the color chart! I giggled out loud. 🤣
We need to get Hair Buddha his own show.. where he goes in and helps struggling salons and helps them advance their techniques!
That was done in the mid 2000s. Tabitha. I forget the name of her show. She was one tough cookie. Like a female Gordon Ramsey. Good stuff 👍

Phew, this cut 😱😱😱
This is where actually curly haired people have an advantage (like myself), so that worst case scenario you do not see how choppy it is thanks to the curls 😅
The first haircut and colour looked good 😊
This is why, as the child of a hairdresser, I'm doing my research and doing MY OWN HAIR.
Way better than what I do to my hair, but . . .)
Quite a long time ago now:
Lots of fine medium-dark brown hair that had violet put over it (the color shone in the sun but was stealthy under crap office lighting.) I went to an expensive salon for a treatment to put it back to my natural color and some repair so I could grow it out from a bob.
"Sections"! Lol.
Yep, good communication is EVERYTHING!!
Having experienced hackers on my long but fine hair, I finally learnt to say "Stop!" Your common sense tells you that that dude shouldn't even be allowed to cut a hedge with his lucky packet qualifications. Yikes.
When cutting my hair, my hairdresser even asks me to not cross my legs so my hips and spin is even. She's such a pro💅
I have NEVER seen a haircut like this...
Hair Buddha you are so cute with your expression. You always make me laugh....
I didn’t think the first attempt was that bad, the end result was tragic.
Don't change yourself for anyone but you. If you do it for someone else you will probably cry after.
I hate when they saying “It looks like I’m cutting more than you think”. I’ve heard that waaaay tooo much. And then, it’s too short!!
I agree there are more bad o es than good!
Watching that last cut hurt my hairdresser heart!
Mine too
This is crazy to me, I’ve had the same stylist for 13 years and we still spend 30 minutes when I arrive talking about what I want even though I get the same color every time we STILL spend the time to talk about it and then I don’t even look at my hair until she’s done and I don’t think I even tell her how to trim my hair, that’s called trust between clients and stylist.
Thanks for explaining the hair colours! I understand the struggle 👍 everyone thinks blonde has to be light🙈
I appreciate that your reactions offer constructive criticism and don't just attack the people who messed up.

You’re probably safer with the wood than the whisk (if it’s metal), wood is less reactive
That N'Sync comment she made was spot on. It was a perfect description of what it looked like.
One of my favorite types of videos! Yayy 🥰❤️
Amazing content as aLways...thank hair budda for the upload ...keep up the great work your videos make my day 😊
You know it's bad when you're wide eyed and mouth is open and saying "Noooo!" at the exact same time 😂 😂 Great info H.B.!! Thank you 💖
Your experience/explanation is so precise...to the viewers and that’s how it has to be with the clients ,during the consultation exactly too.well done sir👏. What I’d really like to see is the color correction video.
Since I have found this channel... I bet I have watched 12 hrs of videos. ❤🎉
The same thing happened to me. 😳
If i have an idea she’ll tell me the steps and as a client we gotta understand the color wheel lol or just trust them (when they’re good)
Hopefully that made sense 🙂💜
....at least her hair is no longer boring.
Omg THANK YOH FOR SHOWING THAT HAIR BOOK!!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Ahhh, my day is now complete. Thank you for sharing, Hair Buddha❣🌞
Be well! 😘💕
Natural hair colour is so beautiful 😻
I have this "streethound blond" and i really hate that! Very good explanation! He is a really master!
Hope you and your family doing well ❤ love all the videos and tips ... Always make me smile
Very educational. I enjoyed it. Clear Communication is vital. I wish everyone would view your channel Before doing Anything.
Very informative. Yes please shown some 5 star hairdresser haircuts.
Consultation and analysis is extremely important before any hair treatment
I've never gone to a salon and I don't plan to. These sorts of videos where I see what goes wrong makes me glad I just cut my own and don't color it 😂 thank you for explaining how to fix things!
Thank you for updating me on seeing your salon!! I'm very patient so I can wait..lol. but I love watching your content..even your travel channel.. but all I'm gonna say for now is chachos...😊
