I'm complaining more about american politics and agendas. But to have a true legacy g1 studio series megatron, a gun is the only accurate decision.
Them making him a tank is not revising history. It’s them doing the best they can to give us an accurate Megatron while not breaking laws. If Hasbro actually made a gun Megatron he’d be even more innacurate to keep it within the law.

Definitely getting this AND SS86 when it comes out. I've always LOVED the gun mode Megatron and it drives me up the wall when people say "oh but that's really stupid." As for why Hasbro cannot, I get it. I accept they are doing what they have to for a compromise because states like NJ and California got even stricter than just the orange cap. But boy am I so glad 3rd party stepped up. My only gripe, and I can live with it is that he's just slightly shorter than SS86 Prime.
Yeah I told people it's not so much that Hasbro is making a tank it's the fact they are calling him SS'86 that irks me. Now we went from screen accuracy to the limitations of Hasbro due to laws. So I guess all the budget went to SS:86. They could have put him in Age Of The Primes or put him in the very last wave of Legacy United. Sticking SS'86 on him when he is not accurate is well ..very inaccurate. I know it won't change and it is what it is, but now I'm glad we have options. @@superroboted We got a Studio Series Thundercraker from Dark of the Moon and he was definitely not in the Movie and Studio series Scourge from Rise of the Beast was Vary inaccurate. I don't like how they call it Studio Series but end up being the very Opposite of what the line is going for Hasbro basically turned it into Main Line Series🤣
at 6:50 ish - we kinda agree on this. Megatron was a gun in the movie. So his SS86 figure should be a gun. That's all there is to it. Orange plug if you want, but it should be a gun with the stock and silencer. I'll buy this and put on my Reprolabels Decepticon logo and be satisfied with it. If the official Hasbro release next year looks clean in robot mode with no tank parts (Earthrise), then I'll use that in stop motion as my first frame, then switch to S01 for the transformation, then to H9 for the shrinking, then to the little accessory that Starscream can hold for final gun mode. No worries on my part.
Different states have different laws. He’d have to be bright neon colors, and turn into something that doesn’t even resemble a real life gun. So Hasbro making a gun Megatron would be even more innacurate than just having him turn into a tank instead.

BUT unfortunately he's still a bit shorter than ss86 optimus prime. he's good size with Earthrise optimus prime. Even though I’m a defender of Hasbro’s decision of making tank megatron in the SS86 line, I completely understand people’s frustrations of not having megaton transform into a gun. I’m very happy for those that wanted gun megatron because they have this now! It looks sick and even has Diecast/metal parts which is a cherry on top! Hopefully this makes everybody happy now!
It's not about making people happy. It's about the principle. SS'86 is supposed to be screen accuracy based on the movie. So in the movie he was a gun. Since we know all the reasons why you can't make a gun then don't put him in SS'86. That's it.

It is 100% not that serious to me 😂. Whatever Hasbro is releasing, more than likely, I'm going to buy it. I am praying that just like Galvatron and Studio series 86 Optimus, it will be super duper close to cartoon accurate in robot mode. As far as this new age figure, I was excited that there's an option out there for a gun Megatron but then I saw the size comparisons and my desire went out the window. Besides that, I have hated the crotch flap that new age gave their legend scale version. It is super disappointing to see the same exact thing on this bigger version. It also doesn't come with the barrel extension or stock so it's not even an accurate gun mode. People are so excited for him to be a gun and it's not even accurate to what was in the movie without those two things. This is going to be a placeholder until something taller and better comes out and I'm going to save my money.
Well, besides the offering we have from Hasbro...if we want a G1 Megatron this is it for now. My theory is if this NewAge Megatron starts selling even though it's still inaccurate other 3P companies will follow. It reminds me back in 2014 when every 3P company was making their own G1 Dinobots because the only Dinobots we had from Hasbro were from AoE. As far as the actual SS'86 Megatron I do believe the robot mode will shine and it will definitely match the scale of SS'86 Optimus. I'm aware of the limitations Hasbro has but I'm glad to see a 3P company try at this scale as despite what Hasbro does, since 2018 they have not had 3P challenge mainline like they used to because Legends scale is hot right now. So I think more companies will step up. I'm just glad we have options again.
I'm kinda the opposite of Tman. Whatever hasben puts out, I'm probably not going to buy it. This looks awesome. The feet are a little off, but not bad. I'm okay with it not coming with the barrel extension and shoulder brace, but it would've been cooler if it did.

I know I wasn't born around the original airing. But I know that Megatron is a gun originally, and would like the Studio Series to just get it right instead of playing into the gun laws that started being uber ridiculous since 1988, 2 years after the 1986 movie. I don't care about these gun laws, nor do i wanna continue listening to the power hungry elites that ban them and make 1986 Megatron lose form like that. It's ludicrous. It's ridiculous. I already pre-ordered him. He is going to look amazing with my Dramatic Capture set Optimus Prime. Yeah I know it's the Earthrise mold, but I think this Megatron looks better next to the Earthrise mold because of the molded detailing vs the super clean smooth toon look of the 86 Optimus Prime. But hey if you disagree, get what you want I'm not going to stop you. ✌️
That makes sense. This is where the folly comes because robot mode for SS'86 will have hopefully a smooth look like SS'86 Prime. Since you're getting the Autobot Bridge set yes NA is perfect. This is good because now we have choices again.

Yeah. I'm a middle-aged G1 fan myself. And I don't think we need a gun mode or a tank mode. I know of no collector that displays Megatron in his alt-mode beside other figures. All we ever needed was a very cartoon accurate, highly articulated non-transformable Megatron. And a cool Walther P38 accessory for Starscream. Same goes for Soundwave and Reflector.
But then it's just a R.E.D. figure, which they already made, that also did not sell well. I said it I know they can't make a gun, just don't put him in SS'86.

Because every transformable counterpart to R.E.D has way better articulation. No. I want the superior non-transformable robot, that can 90° kick, sit and ride a Junkicon motorcycle. I want what we were promised years ago. And SS86 Megatron would be an excellent chance to deliver.
What you are looking for is the Yolopark AMK G1 Megatron. Cartoon accurate, posable, good paint, and plenty of accessories. Only problem is that it doesn’t scale with mainline figures and is larger.

I told people that third party was listening to the demand for a traditional G-1 MEGATRON in the mainline. I didn’t know if TAKARA was gonna do it or not, but it doesn’t matter now because third party has stepped up as they always do. All the anti third party folks, even some of them are having second thoughts to get off their ridiculous brand loyalty to HASBRO/TAKARA and buy this third party figure. I’ll still buy the SS86 MEGATRON. I support third party and I buy official too. You limit your collection by not dabbling in third party I feel. I got this guy preordered on ShowZStore. Hopefully he’s around $80-$100 tops.

When SS86 Megatron was confirmed to be a tank, I didn't really care, I knew it was coming and had already prepared for it, but I'm so happy that this exists, this is the kind of thing 3rd party companies are great for, making the things Hasbro either won't or can't. I am a little worried to see the price though, it's no doubt going to be at least twice the price of the official SS86 leader class Megatron just going off of NewAge's regular prices for their legends class figures.

Whoa...you must not have watched the countless videos and comments throughout forums basically saying we are crazy for thinking SS'86 would be a gun. The takes these people spit are pathetic. I know we can't get a gun but why put him in SS'86 if he is not a gun? I am so looking forward to this new age toys figure. I own three figures from new age, H6 Reconnaissance Max (cosmos), H14P Leraje (skywarp) and H51 Hawk (ironhide). The figures are mini masterpieces but small in scale (compared to voyager) and expensive for my taste. But I am definitely getting the megatron.

I wasn't keen having G1 Megatron as a tank either. I don't mind people's preferences too I mean that's theirs but the way they push it is kinda annoying. To us, G1 Megatron has always been a gun. It also made sense for a baddie to become a tool of war which made sense why Bob Budiansky chose the Gun Robo as Megs. Also I'm a little surprised how quick they made an alternative for us.
Too bad that S-01 ROMULUS is just a tad bit shorter than SS86 Optimus. But what concerns me more will be the price. If this cost around $100 more or less, I'll have to think about it since Megatron isn't one of my favorite characters in Transformers. Regardless, I do hate it when other people "rationalize" Hasbro for making a statement that SS86 Megatron will be a tank. I am also tired of people pointing to public safety concerning the current laws about toy guns in America. I’m surprised even a 3rd party made a G1 Megatron. Im buying Romulus. I want a new MP Megatron now. MP 36 is awesome, but I’d like to see a new company try a MP scale Megatron with today’s engineering skills.
I do agree on Soundwave. The arms are too detailed (since it's a Siege reuse), and those folding things should be removed, and there are gaps in cassette player mode that can be fixed. If SS86 Soundwave fixes that and also adds in the Cybertronian lamppost mode from the first episode, that would be awesome. Starscream's mold does need a little work, and despite how much I love details on my figures, his figure is too detailed, unlike his diaclone counterpart. He does need to be smoothed out and given diaclone details as paint apps or details where we once had stickers.
Yeah it's funny how detailed the plastic is but then what they did with the five pack was perfect. I still want them to go to the well for SS'86 like a waist swivel for the Earthrise Seekers and smoothed out surface for Shockwave
I will overlook the size as I think someone gonna give us feet extenders...I also think other companies will jump on board as the potential to make money is here because Hasbro can't make a true G1 Megatron

A lot of his fans seem very new and young so they definitely advocate for things that stray from the g1 path. G1 megatron do in fact needs his spotlight again to honor G1 for contributing to all inspiration that newer transformers series has taken from G1.

If only he was a little bit bigger to be in scale with SS86 Optimus. Unfortunately, he is 1" smaller, so not in scale with SS86. This figure works better with Earthrise Optimus.

Preordered on sight. It kinda gives off Hegemon energy, in that he's the almost perfect foil to the main Prime of the toy line. I don't think there's anything I hate about this guy.

I'm perfectly fine with him as a gun or a tank honestly. I think a gun is better for the nostalgia of the fans who want him to be a gun. I don't have the nostalgia for the gun mode, but I like G1 Megatron as a character. I like tank mode since it makes sense for Decepticons. According to G1 lore they were the Military drones of Cybertron. For me personally, a tank would be more useful to me in my toy battles rather than a gun, since I would have to hold it. I was going to get New Age Romulus, but the scale is way off for SS86, and I already have the DCS Nemesis Bridge Megatron, which will pair nicely with the DCS Ark bridge Optimus Prime. When SS86 comes out, I'll get him for my SS86 Optimus Prime.
I dunno about the scale being way off it's more in scale with Earthrise Prime than anything but way off no just not as tall at 6.68 inches vs SS:86 Prime at 7 inches.

I'm 28 and grew up on the 86 movie because of my collector father and watched the OG g1 shows like gi-joe, he-man, thunder cats and transformers. I understand times change with Megatron but Megatron will always be a gun, he's the most powerful weapon in the universe that has to be fired by someone else in most cases

I was just off the heels of watching Bukaroo Banzai and when I first heard G1 Megatron it made me think of John Lithgow....and even though I know he's voiced by Frank Welker I still think of John Lightgow.

@@superroboted I spoke to Ages Three and Up where I ordered mine. I was told two versions. One cartoon style. EX leans to more realistic. I canceled my EX for the cartoon version. Not sure about you but I don’t like that scroll design on EX chest or the brown parts. I like the red but I’d rather have the weapons and face plates.

Definitely getting this AND SS86 when it comes out. I've always LOVED the gun mode Megatron and it drives me up the wall when people say "oh but that's really stupid." As for why Hasbro cannot, I get it. I accept they are doing what they have to for a compromise because states like NJ and California got even stricter than just the orange cap. But boy am I so glad 3rd party stepped up. My only gripe, and I can live with it is that he's just slightly shorter than SS86 Prime.
Yeah I told people it's not so much that Hasbro is making a tank it's the fact they are calling him SS'86 that irks me. Now we went from screen accuracy to the limitations of Hasbro due to laws. So I guess all the budget went to SS:86. They could have put him in Age Of The Primes or put him in the very last wave of Legacy United. Sticking SS'86 on him when he is not accurate is well ..very inaccurate. I know it won't change and it is what it is, but now I'm glad we have options.

at 6:50 ish - we kinda agree on this. Megatron was a gun in the movie. So his SS86 figure should be a gun. That's all there is to it. Orange plug if you want, but it should be a gun with the stock and silencer. I'll buy this and put on my Reprolabels Decepticon logo and be satisfied with it. If the official Hasbro release next year looks clean in robot mode with no tank parts (Earthrise), then I'll use that in stop motion as my first frame, then switch to S01 for the transformation, then to H9 for the shrinking, then to the little accessory that Starscream can hold for final gun mode. No worries on my part.

Even though I’m a defender of Hasbro’s decision of making tank megatron in the SS86 line, I completely understand people’s frustrations of not having megaton transform into a gun. I’m very happy for those that wanted gun megatron because they have this now! It looks sick and even has Diecast/metal parts which is a cherry on top! Hopefully this makes everybody happy now!
It's not about making people happy. It's about the principle. SS'86 is supposed to be screen accuracy based on the movie. So in the movie he was a gun. Since we know all the reasons why you can't make a gun then don't put him in SS'86. That's it.

It is 100% not that serious to me 😂. Whatever Hasbro is releasing, more than likely, I'm going to buy it. I am praying that just like Galvatron and Studio series 86 Optimus, it will be super duper close to cartoon accurate in robot mode.
As far as this new age figure, I was excited that there's an option out there for a gun Megatron but then I saw the size comparisons and my desire went out the window.
Besides that, I have hated the crotch flap that new age gave their legend scale version. It is super disappointing to see the same exact thing on this bigger version. It also doesn't come with the barrel extension or stock so it's not even an accurate gun mode. People are so excited for him to be a gun and it's not even accurate to what was in the movie without those two things.
This is going to be a placeholder until something taller and better comes out and I'm going to save my money.
Well, besides the offering we have from Hasbro...if we want a G1 Megatron this is it for now. My theory is if this NewAge Megatron starts selling even though it's still inaccurate other 3P companies will follow. It reminds me back in 2014 when every 3P company was making their own G1 Dinobots because the only Dinobots we had from Hasbro were from AoE.
As far as the actual SS'86 Megatron I do believe the robot mode will shine and it will definitely match the scale of SS'86 Optimus. I'm aware of the limitations Hasbro has but I'm glad to see a 3P company try at this scale as despite what Hasbro does, since 2018 they have not had 3P challenge mainline like they used to because Legends scale is hot right now. So I think more companies will step up. I'm just glad we have options again.
I'm kinda the opposite of Tman. Whatever hasben puts out, I'm probably not going to buy it. This looks awesome. The feet are a little off, but not bad. I'm okay with it not coming with the barrel extension and shoulder brace, but it would've been cooler if it did.

I know I wasn't born around the original airing. But I know that Megatron is a gun originally, and would like the Studio Series to just get it right instead of playing into the gun laws that started being uber ridiculous since 1988, 2 years after the 1986 movie.
I don't care about these gun laws, nor do i wanna continue listening to the power hungry elites that ban them and make 1986 Megatron lose form like that. It's ludicrous. It's ridiculous.

I already pre-ordered him. He is going to look amazing with my Dramatic Capture set Optimus Prime. Yeah I know it's the Earthrise mold, but I think this Megatron looks better next to the Earthrise mold because of the molded detailing vs the super clean smooth toon look of the 86 Optimus Prime. Yeah. I'm a middle-aged G1 fan myself. And I don't think we need a gun mode or a tank mode. I know of no collector that displays Megatron in his alt-mode beside other figures.
All we ever needed was a very cartoon accurate, highly articulated non-transformable Megatron. And a cool Walther P38 accessory for Starscream. Same goes for Soundwave and Reflector.
But then it's just a R.E.D. figure, which they already made, that also did not sell well. I said it I know they can't make a gun, just don't put him in SS'86.

What you are looking for is the Yolopark AMK G1 Megatron. Cartoon accurate, posable, good paint, and plenty of accessories. Only problem is that it doesn’t scale with mainline figures and is larger.

I told people that third party was listening to the demand for a traditional G-1 MEGATRON in the mainline. I didn’t know if TAKARA was gonna do it or not, but it doesn’t matter now because third party has stepped up as they always do. All the anti third party folks, even some of them are having second thoughts to get off their ridiculous brand loyalty to HASBRO/TAKARA and buy this third party figure. I’ll still buy the SS86 MEGATRON. I support third party and I buy official too. You limit your collection by not dabbling in third party I feel. I got this guy preordered on ShowZStore. Hopefully he’s around $80-$100 tops.

When SS86 Megatron was confirmed to be a tank, I didn't really care, I knew it was coming and had already prepared for it, but I'm so happy that this exists, this is the kind of thing 3rd party companies are great for, making the things Hasbro either won't or can't. I am a little worried to see the price though, it's no doubt going to be at least twice the price of the official SS86 leader class Megatron just going off of NewAge's regular prices for their legends class figures.
I do wish he were 7" rather than 6.6" tall to scale with SS86 Prime. Does he come with the stock and silencer?

I know we can't get a gun but why put him in SS'86 if he is not a gun? I am so looking forward to this new age toys figure. I own three figures from new age, H6 Reconnaissance Max (cosmos), H14P Leraje (skywarp) and H51 Hawk (ironhide). The figures are mini masterpieces but small in scale (compared to voyager) and expensive for my taste. But I am definitely getting the megatron.

I wasn't keen having G1 Megatron as a tank either. I don't mind people's preferences too I mean that's theirs but the way they push it is kinda annoying. To us, G1 Megatron has always been a gun. It also made sense for a baddie to become a tool of war which made sense why Bob Budiansky chose the Gun Robo as Megs. Also I'm a little surprised how quick they made an alternative for us.

I’m surprised even a 3rd party made a G1 Megatron. Im buying Romulus. I want a new MP Megatron now. MP 36 is awesome, but I’d like to see a new company try a MP scale Megatron with today’s engineering skills.
I do agree on Soundwave. The arms are too detailed (since it's a Siege reuse), and those folding things should be removed, and there are gaps in cassette player mode that can be fixed. If SS86 Soundwave fixes that and also adds in the Cybertronian lamppost mode from the first episode, that would be awesome.
Starscream's mold does need a little work, and despite how much I love details on my figures, his figure is too detailed, unlike his diaclone counterpart. He does need to be smoothed out and given diaclone details as paint apps or details where we once had stickers.
Yeah it's funny how detailed the plastic is but then what they did with the five pack was perfect. I still want them to go to the well for SS'86 like a waist swivel for the Earthrise Seekers and smoothed out surface for Shockwave

If only he was a little bit bigger to be in scale with SS86 Optimus. Unfortunately, he is 1" smaller, so not in scale with SS86. This figure works better with Earthrise Optimus.
NewAge is like 6.68 inches and SS86 Prime is 7 inches while ER prime and ER Megs are 6.5

I don't have the nostalgia for the gun mode, but I like G1 Megatron as a character. I like tank mode since it makes sense for Decepticons. According to G1 lore they were the Military drones of Cybertron. For me personally, a tank would be more useful to me in my toy battles rather than a gun, since I would have to hold it. I was going to get New Age Romulus, but the scale is way off for SS86, and I already have the DCS Nemesis Bridge Megatron, which will pair nicely with the DCS Ark bridge Optimus Prime. When SS86 comes out, I'll get him for my SS86 Optimus Prime.
I dunno about the scale being way off it's more in scale with Earthrise Prime than anything but way off no just not as tall at 6.68 inches vs SS:86 Prime at 7 inches.
@@superroboted Yeah and that's fine that it scales more with Earthrise. But I was hoping he'd be as tall or a little bit taller than SS86 Optimus Prime. I just don't like when Megatron is shorter than Optimus.

I'm 28 and grew up on the 86 movie because of my collector father and watched the OG g1 shows like gi-joe, he-man, thunder cats and transformers. I understand times change with Megatron but Megatron will always be a gun, he's the most powerful weapon in the universe that has to be fired by someone else in most cases

I've been collecting Newage figs and again I think it's really cool they stepped in and provided a fig that fills that void on your shelf/display case. Ahhhh yessss!!!! I have to remember this...I'm getting old but I was always a G1 Megatron fan. I was just off the heels of watching Bukaroo Banzai and when I first heard G1 Megatron it made me think of John Lithgow....and even though I know he's voiced by Frank Welker I still think of John Lightgow.

Love the passion, but i gotta ask...who here is not wanting a gun mode megatron? I'm not even entirely a G1 fan I grew up with the unicorn trilogy so that's what I know the most and I'm used to so many different megatons, but G1 he was a gun, in every appearance of until his reformation in the 86 movie. The thing is people have to be more understandable, the only reason 86 Megatron is going to be a tank is because of laws and that really sucks. Honestly I wouldn't mind 86 Megatron that turns into a gun and has an orange tip.
A lot of people...man I been in forums and it is the same thing. "Gun is lame", "He only transformed once into gun" Someone has to shoot him" "Gun Laws"....like we didn't know. On top of that Hasbro will force feed us Tank Megs in the '86 line and that's wrong. Put it somewhere else.

@@superroboted I spoke to Ages Three and Up where I ordered mine. I was told two versions. One cartoon style. EX leans to more realistic. I canceled my EX for the cartoon version. Not sure about you but I don’t like that scroll design on EX chest or the brown parts. I like the red but I’d rather have the weapons and face plates.
Oh, I get the impression that Hasbro will make a remake of the 1986 Transformers movie (like Disney did with The Little Mermaid and Snow White) where Megatron is a tank.

FWIW, I have a G1 and both versions of MP36. I have the NA Legends version too. I’ve been around since 84, I’ve experienced and love the Walther P-38. I will definitely buy and do my best to enjoy whatever they put out for SS86 official. I want this New Age Romulus too.

I'm a naysayer because this is ugly as fuck. The robot mode has far too many panels, which is a big problem with Newage. Maybe if Magic Square upscale their Megatron I will be happy since their products are always clean.
