- Breeding Guppies for Profit, the series is a new series I will be making on how to breed guppy fish for profit. I will go over how to set up a breeding tank. how much does it cost to get started, and how much can I make breeding for profit. All the items needed are listed below including what does it cost to start a breeding for profit tank.

I’m attempting to breed guppy’s with my 6 year old daughter so this is perfect timing! We got one male and two females and I’m pretty sure both females are pregnant (we’ve had them a few weeks).

Just set up my 40gal tank.. got everything from Aquariumcoop.com.. 12 plants 2 large filters with the no clog air stones.. and it’s running now... still looking to stock it... wish I would have done this video.. but was to excited to set my tank up!!! Haven’t had a tank in 8 years!!

My healthy snack is a steak sandwich w/ lettuce and fried onions on an Atlantic City roll from Vics Subs in Absecon......and a raspberry snapple as my beverage. LOL Atlantic City rolls make the sub! Great video, as always, my friend.

You could breed for profit and make the profit just from selling java moss. I paid $10 for a tiny little bit in a plastic cup.
A little cheap pump cost me $16 from amazon. I bought a 10 gallon tank kit on sale at pet smart for $65 as a quarantine which will eventually hold shrimp. I'm in Canada and I wish I could order from Aquarium co-op at those prices but they don't deliver here. I thin the start up cost would be more for the average hobbyist. You didn't mention a lid, light, heater, thermometer, water conditioner.....

The hard part about "for profit" is when you want to scale it up a little. I mean once you got beyond the initial hurdle of breeding a fish that people will actually buy for money. Actually selling higher quantities is a challenge. Actually breeding higher quantities and quality also. Your setup for example leaves a lot of money on the table, I think. Some decent "fry security" measures would increase the yield substantially.
I hope we can get some of those aquarium coop products here in Canada

I dont know if it helps much if at all, but im a big fan of mixing foods. I stole your pepper mill idea and blend different pellets together and make them guppy size. My loaches also like bite size morsels. I had a decent set up going and my extra guppies were going to a local store in trade for food. Now im in the middle of house hunting and figuring out ware and how to move tanks or if I should liquidate it all and start over. Gonna have to at least size down. I moved less than a year ago and it was a nightmare with all the fish and tanks. That move was 2 cities over. This one might be cross country idk yet.

You didn't put heater in the cost. are you not going to heat them? Most of us don't have a room that want to keep at 78f.
You don’t need a heater, it will help speed up growth, bit you don’t need it like you don’t need a top.
