Ha, when I first started wearing makeup almost 20 years ago my mom taught me to pat my powder in with a puff. But over the years no one else seemed to be doing that and I don't even remember at what point I switched to a brush. Mom was right all along.

He has spoken many times in videos amount training with some of the best makeup artists in the world. He is in fact a professional makeup artist and has been officially trained- though I think globally what makes someone official varies, so it is possible him being in the UK might be different than where you are? Sorry I guess, if you liked thinking he wasn't? ^^' I hope that doesn't change your opinion of his talent. Perhaps that just gives reason to admire him more, in that he consciously doesn't let himself be swayed?

You are very clear and when you talk it sounds like you really know about that specific topic, you're smart and passionate when it comes to makeup, and that's something that not everyone has about their jobs. Most people can't even explain a thing that they're supposed to know. I just watched 2 videos of yours and already learned 2 different techniques that I'm absolutely going to try soon. Maybe we will never meet but you inspired me today to give my best if I ever become a makeup artist. Thank you.

Thank you Wayne! I've learned it same way like you explain here. The other day I went for my job interview at Bobbi Brown and did a makeup test for them. They completely bashed the way I powdered (Rolling the brush, asking for a puff) and said "sweep it sweetie, SWEEP, the way you do it is wrong". I'm just starting out as an MUA (just got my degree) and there's still so much to learn. You're videos are so interesting, thank you for sharing!

My skin looks sooo much better now that I switched to using a puff. I have dry skin, & my makeup was looking so cakey & patchy, especially once I turned 30 and I kept wasting money on new products thinking that was the problem. So when I tried this, it made all the difference, & I didn't have to buy anything new!

I just used this technique with a powder puff and I love the results! I even pat my face with a tissue after I was done and it came up clean. no make up rubbed off my clothing either. I also let my make up dry for a minute or so before applying my powder, and what a difference that made!! Thanks so much!

So _that's_ how to apply powder efficiently! I was wondering how/why I kept using up my pressed powders so fast, I'd hit the pan so early, which I dread... It's because I was wasting so much of the powder by applying it in a wasteful way. Thank you so much for your advice! :D

I am so grateful for you! After watching a ton of your videos, you have helped my dry cakey slide of my face foundation stay in place! I've had SUPER BAD acne since I was nine years old. The only way I had confidence was powder and concealer. As of now, my skin is cleared up and I only wear minimal power; Which is what I was referring to when I said "I was applying my makeup correctly." Youre not my mother or father; I can do as I please. And Its not like I'm using tons of makeup. I'm now "14", applying for a job, working to get my drivers permit and in high school; If I'm old enough to do any of those things, I think I'm old enough to wear makeup. Maybe instead of judging me, go and judge the 12 year olds getting pregnant. -thanks Alechandro

    • @kilipaki87oritahiti
      @kilipaki87oritahiti 10 років тому +4

Prob bc u haven't set ur foundation w a powder. If directly onto the foundation u will only rubb it off. When using powder over liquid/cream it is best to sett it w powder first before applying any blush or conture...powder on powder works best w out getting blotches or the foundation/concealer being rubbed off ;)

Gotta tell ya Wayne that this has been one of the most helpful videos for me. I never could understand what the problem was but as soon as I did what you said, it worked like a charm! Thanks again.

I've been doing this wrong for years. I'm so glad I found your tutorials. I'm a redhead with very fair skin, I also have a problem with redness mostly in my cheekbones. I'm going to get a puff and start with all of your tips ASAP!

Great video, Wayne! I wanted to see this again with your face brushes coming out. I am eagerly awaiting them! I WAS using the wrong method before your video, now I've switched to velour puffs and they're fantastic. I think I finally understand the interaction between foundation and powder. You teach giving the logic rationale for why you do something the way you do, which makes it infinitely more understandable and means I'll remember it. Thank you! XXX

I can't wait to try this tomorrow, I know I will be blown away! And honestly, I never even knew why those puffy thingies were included in powder...wow am I a dummy! Thanks!!! (:

I'm 55 yrs old and I've always used a powder puff to set foundation and THEN the powder brush to remove the excess. Ty Wayne Goss for teaching these young ones the correct methods! ❤

i am using mineral powder with a (cheap) but round powder brush.
never had an issue, i need quite a lot of coverage and i am only using mineral foundation on well moisturised skin. works beautifully :)
whereas I used to think that with my skin needs I could never use mineral powder only, or when I became quite obsessed how my pores looked like.

Excellent tip for those of us that have a tendency to use perhaps too much powder (because we're applying it incorrectly) but hate that 'oily forehead' glare from TV lighting. Ugh. Thank you Wayne!

Thank you so much for sharing! I'm a 40 year old woman who has been wearing make-up since I was a teenage girl, yes, many years, & although I've learned & changed the way I wear make up, I've not changed how I applied my make-up, until recently. Well for many yrs I havn't been able to wear make-up because of the relationship I was in, I wasn't allowed to wear make-up but I so wanted to! I always loved the way I felt about myself when I made myself up! But when I was wearing make-up & now that I'm trying to get back into the swing of the beauty world, It's the way I was applying my make-up, so wrong for so many years! But I absolutely luv your videos because you go into detail & explain not only how but why we should do certain things. I'm not even close to perfecting my make-up, and it don't help that I havn't been able to purchase the correct make-up, brushes, & beauty blenders but one day I will. So for now though I been using the things I have & just keep practicing, I don't get it rite most of the time but I'm attempting! 😕 Anyways, plz keep ur videos coming because they are really so helpful to "beginners" like me! Sorry for my long message & my sob story but I just wanted to tell you thank you and how important you are to someone like me, a survivor, & how much you been helping me! God Bless You! 😍

this is so useful. ive always applied my powder with puff but then i see all these makeup gurus apply their powder with brush so i start following them but now i realized that to APPLY it is better using a puff.when i use a brush, and i swipe my fingers over my skin gently at,like, school,it comes off and THATS SO EMBARASSING !!

I am a huge makeup lover and I started with it kind of late in life as I'm now in my mid-to-late forties. The biggest makeup problem I have is I of course have to wear Foundation everyday and exactly what you said I was doing wrong is exactly what I was doing. My Foundation if I wanted to wait for it to dry would probably take an hour. I use It Cosmetics CC cream and on other days Estee Lauder Double Wear and neither one of them dry ever seemingly. I'm going to try this.
