I'm curious. Did you even watch the review past the 2 minute mark? I suspect you didn't, since you thinking I said the game was bad wouldn't be in line with the video. It was #10 on my best games this year. I don't know who "most people" are, but your totally wrong. Most AC fan's wanted more depth to the game, more things to do, better online play, etc...This game is good, but it should have been better. Not just a rehash of a GC game.
Pascal- a sea otter who visits your town. He was in the DS version of the game. My first reaction when I saw him out of the corner of my eye was the same as yours. Then I was like, "Oh, it's Pascal- cuuuuuuute."
no there's plenty of new ones, and some of them have been altered a little bit. an example is the Master Sword has upgraded to a Twilight Princess style. Also, some of the clothes have been SLIGHTLY altered since you can make sleves and the back different.
the thing that makes animal crossing so amazing is that it's all about self-expression, creativity, and freedom. You can dress yourself, earn and spend money however you want, decorate your house, talk to people, and so much more without worrying if you'll "die" or "lose a life" or something. or at least that's what I think BTW say hi to Punchy for me :)
How to give ACCF more replay ability: Go into a hacked town, or hack it yourself, and you can literally see a town made from scratch. You can also do a bunch of games against your friends that you can make up yourself. Also, the game is $20 new now. Wild World isn't even that cheap.
This review is pretty much perfect. It's completely true in all respects. This is just a re-hash of the other Animal Crossing games that came before it, which is also why it is still good. I would buy it for myself if I didn't already have the GC & DS versions. btw, I love that your kids get involved in the review because it gives it a younger perspective. Thumbs up!
City Folk was basically a port of the DS version, but those two versions are quite different from the GameCube one. Plus, you can't complain about the fact that it's a remake of the N64 title, because it was never released in the US.
how is the online mode for this game? can I only meet with ppl I have as friends. or do I meet random ppl in the city? I waited along time for the gamecube version and I have it. but it turned buring pretty fast (unlike the good parts of the harvest moon series). THe DS version I probably cant get, cause the onlien feature works only on the DSi I think. I have the first DS (which is the best in my opinion) and no W-LAN in my room. is the Wii version worth it, or is it rather a single player?
@wiiviewr Sorry for replying to one of your comments, it must be annoying, but the wii speak channel is Available , you go onto the wii shop channel, then you type in a code somewhere (it tells you in the book) and you can download it
I played the DS version, but this one looks better since you don't have to wait for characters like Crazy Redd or Katrina to arrive in your town. Plus, it looks like you have access to the hair dresser from the beginning in this game, whereas you had to wait until you visited someone else's town to unlock that feature in the DS version.

there could have been a lot more stuff they could have added other than a city, like swimming, robbing people's houses, actually getting a job to actually make money instead of doing favors and selling uneeded stuff, only get it if you are planning to play with friends because it is not as fun other wise, if you don't like to design your town, but then what is the point of designing you town if no one can see it

I was looking forward to this review because I have online friends that have this game. I just don't like the principal of doing things you do IRL or can do IRL in a video game. I used to play Morrow wind all the time but now my video game tastes have changed. I can totally see the littlest wiiviewr just wandering around. When my cousin first got into video games he rented pokemon snap. He loved throwing apples at the pokemon and then gasing them.They got upset and he cracked up laughing.
I agree with you totally. How about some people you HAVE to visit in the city, like an orphange or something. Give us some reason to go into the city other then shopping. I have been playing my AC game daily and I can't remember the last time I went to the city.
i'm not sure whether to get this or AC wild world. i'm thinking WW because the series looks like a type of game that begs to go around with you wherever you go.

I'm sorry, but you just pointed out something that Nintendo should have done. They should have a central hub where you could branch out and visit towns. They should also make it possible to toggle options of what can be done in your town. How about making so we can set up our own shops? As for expecting too much, when you release the game for Wii and you charge $50...then yes I expect more then a port of DS title. If they were going to do that, they should have charged $30.

animal crossing for the gamecube was not a remake since Nintendo intended to release it for the American 64 but it was close to the end for the 64, wild world is a half remake but had wi-fi, new characters and the world was spherical, i never played city folk but what i think is that they may have new characters, a city to go into, and wii speak so people can talk to each other
I only played this game less than 10 times since I got it for Christmas 7 months ago. And don't get me wrong; I played wild world for over a year because I loved it so much, but this one just doesn't appeal to me after playing the previous game. Another reason is because what used to be events are now in the city, which doesn't really give me a motive to play often.
it looks exactly like the ds. you know i bought this on the ds 4 times over lol. i kept losing it (cause the disks are so small) or wanted to restart without erasing my previous worlds. can you timeskip in the wii version? since in the ds you could play for hours by completing a day then moving the clock on another day. if you can time skip i may buy it.
I loved this game when I played the first time on the DS version. It was the only time I had played an Animal Crossing game, and so it was extremely addictive and fun. But upon getting the Wii version, I was extremely disappointed in the lack of updates. And everything in the city is so... expensive. If you've played the Animal Crossing franchise before, I suggest just renting it to try it out. I don't like repeating an almost-identical game.
If you think about it, this game is quite twisted, there are fluffy animals, but it still lets you try to run around whacking your friends with an axe. lol.

There are things in wild world that they actually took out of city folk. Like your neighbors portraits and some items plus you can't get as big a house.

Animal crossing: City Folk is a lazy remake of the DS title. I'm sorry you don't see that but its true. Is the game good? Of course it is, its an AC game. However, that doesn't take a way from the fact its basically no different then the GC game...or even the N64 game.
Feng shui actually affects your gameplay. It will cause more luck with the reds (luck), you are less likely to get bees with green (health) and you CAN get extra money from your daily money rock for yellow (wealth). Plus it is pronounced fang-shway ;)
Did you ever play animal crossing on n64 didn't think so why? Cause it was only released in Japan and they felt it deserved more publicity plus u compare the japanese n64 version to the GameCube there are differences
Personally, I think this is the third best game on the Wii. My top two are of course the Zelda and Mario games. I'm glad they kept the game mostly the same and I have nothing to complain about. The camera angle is way better and I have grown so attached to my fav neighbors Joey and Poncho. Overall I give the game 9/10. :D
What do you mean 40 mins? I've played for like 6 hours once mostly online though. And also I'm sorry I don't like correcting you but I go to the city every day to change my shoes and hair :P But maybe it's just better for a girl my age?
i don't mind having all the games like when you have the ds version and theres a power outage or somthing that takes you away from the wii/gamecube you always have a fully charged ds and the same game :3

Animal crossing is like for making ur own town and seeing how ur life turns out in a gameplay adventure. Also you can use animal crossing to collect items or rare things. And you can get animal crossing for £12 not 15

I just got this game 3 days ago, been playing it on Gamecube and DS. This is my favorite, I still love this series.

He wasn't on it yesterday and somebody had sent him a letter saying they were moving house. When he found this morning, he was sad. XD
even being fully aware that this is essentially just a nicer looking version of the gamecube animal crossing, i still want it lol

Well, in the original Animal Crossing, there was acres, and that's how you moved around. There was an odd transition from acre to acre.
Something tells me that the big Wiiviewer WOULD have chosen rent, but Animal Crossing isn't really a game that you can rent.

@MotherBound1 I called my town on the DS version Onett too, and on the Wii version, I named my town Threed.
