the reason why the blue shell comes up so often is because when nintendo made mario kart wii they gave the game a rubber banding effect it means that if the human player is to far ahead in first that means the cp players get many blue shells and get to go faster than you so they can catch up
But the older levels were made specifically that way, painted with the SNES colours and textures, but made 3D - they were great! I loved SNES Mario Circuit and GBA Bowser's Castle and SNES Ghost House because they kept the retro look, even the original music, but made it compatible with a 3D environment. It's not SUPPOSED to look polished, it's supposed to appease hardcore Mario Kart fans! A lot of the new tracks were blah, but some were ok. Mostly the retro ones were best.

Hehe sometimes me and my friends marathon through this game by driving through all 32 levels at once it only takes like 2 hours to complete them. But I must say the only thing I'm sad about the game is that they dropped the grandprix where u can have another player with you. But still it's one of my favorite games on the wii and I definetly recommend it =D

The retro tracks are awesome. GBA Bowser Castle 3. It's not only about the graphics. It's about pwning the noobs that always choose Luigi Circuit (omg why do you go online. WHY!?). Kart's are awesome by the way. Then again, you did review this game not too long after it came out, so all is forgiven :)....
i wish you could be two characters and co-op the grand prix like in double dash and then have the style balloon battle like on N64. that would have really made this better IMO.

i love this game but i must admit i wish they put more effort in rainbow road my favorite track. in n64 it was space, gamecube was a city, and now its a planet but the planet looks painted so i wish the detailed more!

i know a way how to dodge the blue shells..... right when it hits your head(like very close to flying up on top and hitting you), your boost out of there. NOTE: ONLY WORKS WITH MUSHROOM OR GOLDEN MUSHROOM..... UNLESS YOU HAVE ANOTHER WAY OF BOOSTING.
I got my game for $3, only without the Wii Wheel, but it requires a special card for my Wii, and it costs $50. It's worth it without the Wii Wheel, because I had previous experience from Double Dash and DS. I prefer the Game Cube Controller or the Wii Remote and Numchuck. I also prefer manual drift, because it's the kind of drift in Double Dash and DS.
Haven't played this game much I'd admit, but everything seems so 'averaged' just to make way for casual gamers. This is the reason why I'm not so sure of getting this game. Luckily snakeing is now impossible, but drifting being automatic makes me unsure whether or not skill's going to be needed to win the races.

yea they did touch up the graphics because compare the snes to the wii. ghost valley and the other tracks from the snes are more better than they were on the snes

From what I know, there's another way to unlock her, but you won't get her until late in the game or something.
