  • A drone view of the abandoned construction on the beach road at Na Jomtien near Pattaya, Thailand. They stopped working on this building around 2020 and it is now an ugly sight on the Jomtien skyline. This is a short video and I would like to use this footage in the future once the building is completed, if it ever is.
Situated on the East coast of the Gulf of Thailand, approximately 155 km from the vibrant city of Bangkok, Jomtien and Na Jomtien offer a perfect escape from the urban hustle.

Excellent. Thank you for this video Heath. I find abandoned buildings interesting and would like to explore inside this one. That said I guess Thai laws on trespassing are strict.

It sure looks sad standing alone all by itself. It kind of makes me wonder what happened.

project abandoned... its many more buildings like this in pattaya in other cities, reason was pretty simple, investors made some changes in construction plans after they get permission to start build. When locals reported this goverment cancel permission for construction and project stopped. many people lost money when they bought condos in this building and no chance to get back this money.

Few year ago they received a court order to "downgrade" the building because they were blocking the view of the Navy Radio Station 5 balconny. That's Thailand...

As far as I know, it is still there. Probably one of the best advertisements for not buying before it is finished, but that is Pattaya where many tourists frequent and get caught up in the fantasy.

An unattractive subject, but beautifully recorded and presented, as always, Heath.
Now I'll go off on a tangent: I would have no problem visiting the upper floors of such a tall building, and perhaps even spending a few nights. But actually living so high up permanently... no way. The risk of fire is too great, the chance of surviving too low. On my first visit to Jomtien Beach in 1999, fire damage was still visible on the exterior of the Royal Jomtien Hotel, very near the intersection of Jomtien Beach Rd. & Thappraya Rd. (now known as the Jomtien Palm Beach Hotel & Resort) which had suffered a fire two years earlier caused by a faulty valve on a bottle of cooking gas (propane) in the kitchen. That fire caused nearly 100 deaths, and the building was only about 16 stories in height. And lest anybody think the concrete construction of these buildings would prevent a serious fire, remember that the contents of these buildings provide more than enough fuel for tragedy. I would be willing to live no higher than about the seventh floor of any building for this reason, regardless of the location. There are several UA-cam videos available about that fire, as well as a Wikipedia article for anybody who may wish to learn more.

Visited the sales gallery a few times. It was primarily marketed to the Chinese market with the promise of oceanfront boat transportation to the "future" casino on Koh Larn. Probably a casualty of the problems in China. Looked like a great idea.

Think about al those people owning units in neighboring high rise buildings that have to look at that ugly monstrosity every day. Wonder what that does to their property values?

It looks post-apocalyptic. I still don't *really* get why they don't level it, but I understand that there's some red tape around all of that - things that I am not knowledgeable about. I am most surprised that the right people won't just put this thing out of Jomtien's misery by signing off on whatever needs to be done,.

ANOTHER ONE?? Come on! They didn't learn from Waterfront Suites Bali Hai? 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️ How does a failing
project get that far along without getting stopped? Going to be another eyesore on the beach in prime location. Huge waste. Do better Thailand/Pattaya✊🏼👎🏼
Hopefully somebody can take over and finish this one. Any word?
