  • No matter what size your fabric strips are - you can use them all with string piecing. It's perfect for using up your strip scraps, leftover jelly roll strips or making your own.
You can even do a fun trick while sewing them to make a secondary pattern in the quilt.

I always start with larger foundation piece . Then I trim it

Yes! I love this as you can really control the size at the end. Don't worry too much about it when you are sewing.

I have used this technique many times and love it! It is a lot of fun, as it is easy piecing, and creative...great for baby quilts, holiday quilts, and using up those scraps and strips...

Can you use old sheets instead of muslin? Not sure of grain issues…

You should be able to. It would be a little different as the thread count is a bit tighter in the weave. You could test a few blocks, but really - it should be totally fine to use! It's a great way to upcycle something you already have.

I use dryer sheets or fabric that is incredibly ugly…Wonder what I was thinking when I bought it…It’s great…Don’t have to rip anything out

yes! hah - that ugly fabric trick is a great one. There are some pieces that make me do the head scratch as well! And yup, tearing paper after it all (if you use paper) is no fun!
