Great tip. I've never enjoyed doing fractional stitches.
Speaking of things I loathe in cross-stitching (😂), I wonder if you have any advice or tips on making french knots. I struggle with this every time, they end up all different sizes and shapes, and I end up a very unhappy stitcher! When I see french knots on a pattern, I cringe... Thanks!

Thanks, and I'm so happy you found the tip helpful 😄
I know you are definitely not alone in loathing the French knot so I'll be adding that to my list of videos to do! I don't think there's one magic tip for perfecting them though, although I think I get the best results when I can keep the thread that's wrapped around the needle nice and tight as I pull the thread through. But it is a balance because if you pull too tight your knot can look 'strangled.'
I will say that although I'm usually happy with my French knots, they don't always look totally uniform and I think that's ok 😃
Watch this space...although I do already have some other videos lined up for the next month or so 😄

@@catkinandlillie Thank you, yes I think you're right about keeping the thread tight. 🙂

I never done fractional stitches. How do you read a pattern to determine the type of fractional stitches? I have seen 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4. I am totally lost when it comes to fractional stitches.

Ah yes, deciding what type of fractional stitch to make when looking at a chart is a seriously tricky topic! No wonder you are mystified! I have the next couple of videos lined up but will add this to my list of much needed videos so watch this space!
