- Did not chart nationally in Billboard, but released as a single in 1980. Also released on Susan's album from the same year, "Ghosts". Originally a Country hit for Hank Snow in 1953, the 1959 hit version by Elvis Presley is the best known. Written by Bill Trader.
This is the first time I've heard this version, and my father, bill trader, wrote it. great job, Susan!
Your dad wrote this beautiful country song ! Wow ! My father sang this song so much that it really brings the tears...it meant something special to my dad...he passed in 1994 from cancer...he was part of the greatest generation ....your father gave a gift of himself that has touched many lives..❤
Can it get any better than this?? Wonderful!
I really don't have too many of her recordings, but I love her voice too!
Susan.you have a great voice.that was a good time I was younger loved the song.you rock.✨😉🍒
Such a beautiful talented woman 👠 Susan Jacks was for us to see and listen to singing her amazing songs
What's happening here? I am older than dirt and this is my kind of music. Where has this girl been all of my life? I can not get enough of her voice and songs.
deserves a canada award for her voice it is a blessing
Susan and Terry Jacks made such a Beautiful Couple. Susan Jacks was so.Besutiful with such a perfect " Angelic Voice. The most Beautiful Voice like an Angels Voice where she is now singing with The other " Angels there
i seen this lovely when i was 14 years old and 50 years later i still love her
<
Hank Snow's version is far too twangy for my liking. Susan's voice
was just so mellow and easy to listen too compared to Hank's and frankly
I did not think Elvis' version was that great either.
What beautiful clarity she has in her voice. 💜
...so pure is her vocal wide-ranging pitch and intonation--is just one of the female vocalist criteria she is unrivaled in--simply put--after long evaluation and consideration , I recognize Susan as the best ever female vocalist. I feel , though we would have never known about her natural talent without Terry Jacks' superior production and arrangement abilities.
SHE has a nice voice but the tempo is rushed Bailie&The boys had best female version,
Awesome song, lovely singer
This song should have charted! Susan has such a beautiful voice. Thanks for the posting Lime popsicle!
My claim to fame, I used to dance with her in Maple Ridge, p.e. Class, And Garibaldi Jr High
TantoyEarl Bennett
And she lived Next Door from me. Because of her I became a Profi Musicer. Till This Day. Thank you for my Biggest Love Susan. I am now 65 . Cool.Still love her .
Good melody! Never heard this before. Somebody should do it again without the electronic sounds (experimental music of the 70s) but nobody can match Susan Jacks' voice.
Just my opinion, this is the best version. So sad, her passing. Rip Susan.
Susan Jacks, The Poppy Family had a great sound. More please!
SUSAN JACKS WAS A VERY SPECIAL SINGER OF THE 1960S.
WoW! What a great version of a great song..Where has this lady been hiding?
Best version ever made
Susan Jacks you make the most of your voice, your harmonies and it all tangles with my heart....
Great tune. Susan sure has an awesome voice.
The compliments seemed to be getting some age on them. She is beautiful, her voice is to die for.
There is truly nothing like her treatment of this song. So clear, so simple. I can and do sing with her all the time. Jack
Always loved Susan jacks such a great voice and a pretty lady gone to soon😂
I love her voice!
This is so nice !
Can I take her home with me? Can i be younger? Can I not be married? Can I be smarter?
Damn...I'll just crawl in my sorry head and "die"...music used to be cool, mind boggling, and forever in your soul...Susan is in one of those places for me.
No one sings it better than Elvis, but this is a great cover. R.I.P Elvis and Susan.
It is always refreshing to hear an excellent cover.
Hank Snow.
Always loved her voice.
lovely song lovely voice
Definitely one of the better covers!
To bad we have to get old. Such a beautifull women. Quelle beauté que cette femme quand elle était jeune.
I was too busy way back when to fall in love with Susan. Now? Too much time has been lost...a fool such as I.
Good clear voice. Thanks for the post. 6/2020
Just discovered this! Great!
I want to download this song but there is nothing but the one sung by Ann Murray. But I will find it some any day, I hope. Where can I find Susan Jacks singing the song, Evergreen?
One of my fave Elvis tunes....thank you Susan for recording it. Love it when you multi-track your sweet voice!
>elvis tune
Fabulous Version
For a second I thought I was listing to Ann Murray, most the time her voice is high like the ABBA blonde.
Awesome singer
TCB TLC.love The king's version better.nice cover Rip Elvis,👑🎼🎸😇🎤
Oh, damn, Susan, I started lovin' you again.
Her voice is stellar, but the production choices on this track are suspect. please dear Susan, record some new stuff with classic arrangements. Cheers!
If you look up 'drop-dead-gorgeous' in the dictionary, there'll be a picture of Susan Jacks right next to it!!!

I used to listen to this song by Elvis Presley and maybe this is a female version of Elvis?
@lateforbreakfast Thanks again for your comments, keep them coming!
I went to see her with the poppy family in Calgary must be close to fifty years ago.
🖤🥀💦...uhuh
No I don't, but thanks for your interest.
I listened to the ELVIS version growing up
@stepkatie You're welcome!
I thought her career began and ended with "Which Way you goin Billy?" But this impresses me.
A new one on me, but nice. However, I think the Presley version will always be my favorite.
but...but...I DON'T LIKE COUNTRY MUSIC...
@tuneluver46 this isn't the Poppy Family - it was a solo release by Susan
You're welcome!
Thanks for this.
Do you have Susan and Tom Lavin singing 'It Takes Two'?
sister? hardly, it is his wife, now his ex
@Wooz1ful JEEZE, it impresses me also !
Too bad but thanks to UA-cam...
What a sweetheart
Easily the best cover of this tune.Better than Hank.Elvis or even Anne Murray. What a beautiful voice and an imaginative arrangement. LOVE IT!
Nice Voice
I like singing this at karaoke
My favorite version of this song; even that Presley fellow pales in comparison.Red Raven forever!
Hey kid, are you serious? Maybe you fell down and hurt your brains. I can named a hundred women that sounds just like her. Her voice is average. I have young ladies singing next to me in church with a better voice. Because there are more people that live their lives between their legs, especially when they see blown hair and think she is a great singer.
Well, Old-timer, as Der Fuhrer Trump would say: SAD.
I'd never waste the time needed to denigrate someone else's taste in music.
pretty lady…
