Hey man, what up! Your DRZ came from the factory with lean jetting in order for it to pass emissions. If you still have the factory pilot jet in your carb, it will cause hard starting, hotter all-around operating temperatures, and popping out the exhaust during decceleration. (they do your bike this way on purpose in the name of reduced emissions) The fuel is metered through the carb by it's jets, they're made of brass. The pilot jet meters fuel at idle and the main jet meters fuel above idle. Take the carb off your bike (or turn it till you can get the bowl off, I just remove the carb myself) and take the float bowl off. Inside, there's a nozzle at the very bottom of the carb with a hole in the center and a slot for a flat head screwdriver. This is your main jet. Carefully remove it with a flat blade screwdriver or maybe an 8mm wrench. Look closely at the numbers on the body of the jet and write them down. Now, look in one of the small holes in the bottom of the carb for a smaller jet, it too will have a slot for a flat head screwdriver. Take it out (very carefully) with a small flat head and write down the number on the pilot jet. Now, take your piece of paper and go to eBay, Amazon, Motosport.com, or even your local Suzuki dealer. Look up "carb jets for a drz400" if you go online and look for a pilot jet and main jet that is one size bigger than the numbers you have written down. The dealer would be the best place to start if you don't have much experience with carb jetting, they can for sure tell you what the next size up would be. Also, if you re-jet the carb you will need to be able to adjust the fuel screw. The fuel screw is another adjustment to fine-tune the idle circuit once you get your jetting right. It's on the very bottom of the carb right next to where the intake boot goes on.They probably have it plugged off from the factory so you have to drill the plug out. This ain't a big deal and the plug comes out fairly easy, but you'll want to be careful not to drill no further than you have to. The adjustment screw is in there and you'll want to start at 1 and a half turns out, you tighten the screw to lean the fuel mixture, loosen the screw to richen it. If your pipe glows red hot at nighttime with one and a half turns out, loosen it a quarter turn at a time until only the first few inches of the pipe glow. You re-jet that bad boy and it'll fire right up and run cooler with greatly reduced decel popping. The engine will last longer and sound better. It'll be happier lol.
dumpster diver , amazing points. Yup, i actually already rejetted it to run richer than stock by a bit. It’s better than before but could do with a bit of work.
The moment I saw your wrap, I knew I had to see more. I'm looking to buy one in Spring and give it the itasha treatment as well (already having it drawn up with Shinobu and donuts). Instant subscribe.
Bro this is by far the best video i have seen on a drz400sm Keep up the good work, do you know how much a used drz400sm 2005-2009 would cost ? and you just gained a new sub :P
Are you in Singapore? In Singapore they are generally worth $3000-$3500 for the machine plus whatever remaining COE value on the bike for something in good condition.
Generally from year to year, almost everything is the same. But Suzuki may or may not have changed minor components like your petcock depending on the availability of parts. Earlier models were mostly vacuum fed rather than the gravity fed one that you have, but a lot of riders ended up swapping their stock vacuum fed petcocks for gravity fed ones, so Suzuki might have just swapped that out depending on the market.
Elijah Moreno , thanks. I think the saddlebags I am using aren’t being sold anymore. But they are made by Komine, you can google up Komine’s latest offerings on global.rakuten.com and see how it goes.
Hey there, just wanna enquire with you about the drz 400sm e start issue. I’ve recently purchased a K8 and occasionally, I’ll have some issues starting up my Z. It doesn’t have a crank sound but just a clicking sound, I’ll have to push start in order to get my Z running. The lights and the meter are all working fine but it just won’t start. Can you help me?
Amirul Tan , hey bro, the problem is with your starter solenoid. It’s this little ring like thing inside your starter motor that transmits electricity to it. Yours has been burnt out. If you use the butt of a screwdriver to tap your starter motor u can knock the solenoid to touch the motor and start up the bike and bring it to the workshop to change it.
Sebastien Hamilton , hi, it isn’t a kit you can buy. I designed mine on Photoshop and Illustrator and sent the files to be print and cut at a printshop.
Adi ws , technically nothing wrong, but it just makes adjustments more difficult. Also automatically applies more tension than necessary to the chain and will wear it out faster. So u use a mcct to set the correct tension instead.
Adi ws , yea it will require more mechanical knowledge, but you can always just ask an experienced mechanic to help set it one time, then never need to do it again until the chain kaput.
Having built bad ass cars and bikes all my life , I have run across a few that display how " different " the builders taste is .... and maybe this is " in style " today... IDK. I gotta say that you do know a fantastic amount about your machine ... that is awesome .....but I have to say....I would never even be photographed with that thing let alone be seen on it.
I thought the bike in the thumbnail was one of the issues, because people who would make a bike so ugly probably don't take care of it. You put a lot of work into making a beautiful bike into a gross pig.
fucking seriously im scanning the comments for the tldr because this could easily just be a list, and all these dumbfucks are commenting on is the stickers and anime. fucking execute me.

Do you think it’s the battery problem? The starter relay problem? What could be the issue. Sorryyy. I’m new to the DRZ scene

ReizePrimus alright bro, thank you very much, really👍🏽 really like your vlogs man! Keep it going💪🏼
Google free power mod for drz.
Bro, you're the man!
Best Animal Vines , yer welcome mate!
Sweet Jesus. That looks like your 10 year old daughter dressed the bike!
Where did you get that amazing sticker kit? :O
Sebastien Hamilton , hi, it isn’t a kit you can buy. I designed mine on Photoshop and Illustrator and sent the files to be print and cut at a printshop.
I just watched your other video and saw that! good job it looks awesome :) will be doing something similar on my 2018 SM :D
Sebastien Hamilton , cool! Hope it is an itansha design as well :)
I have followed you in Instagram, you will see mine eventually :)
Sebastien Hamilton , cool. I’ll be watching!
Do you recommend any motorcycle shop for DRZ400
Generally i recommend buying directly from other people privately than shops.
I like your drz400sm i just buy ah 2018
Rodney Alacan , thanks. Congrats on your purchase!
Great video my friend BIG LIKE
why whats wrong with automatic tensioner
Adi ws , technically nothing wrong, but it just makes adjustments more difficult. Also automatically applies more tension than necessary to the chain and will wear it out faster. So u use a mcct to set the correct tension instead.
ReizePrimus O.o ok i got it. but thats mean u need too know the right settings
Adi ws , yea it will require more mechanical knowledge, but you can always just ask an experienced mechanic to help set it one time, then never need to do it again until the chain kaput.
ReizePrimus you should adjust it (manual cct) over the life time of the cam chain. That's what an automatic cct does automatically
You should be thanking god everyday that he doesn't smite you down for the atrocity that is that graphic work.
nice anime theme
