Just got my drz 400 yesterday. Very happy!
DRZ400SM owner here. Apparently the E model has slightly more balls. However, I'll never sell the DRZ, except of course, if I were buying another DRZ. Its pure riding pleasure.
Just got myself a Drz400e man fkn love it .
I have put 3000k`s on my drz now ,, i love it , I have a Harley and a GTR1400 kawasaki ,, there all fun just different ,,,
the little 400 is a ball of fun i just wish it had a 6th gear , Im always looking for it and im running a 15 tooth front and a 45 rear ,,,
I bought the drz 400 new back in 2005 ( sold it now). One of the best bike I've owned I used to beat the Shit out of it and it has never let me down... reliability 10\10.
shit yeah, I miss mine a fair bit.
Tks buddy, Im in Sydney, definitely gonna check what the rules are in Nsw.
Cheers.
Nice vids btw
Came across your channel looking for exactly this; a down to earth DRZ review.. And then I see you're a gamer too? Subbed! Awesome content dude! Always nice to think, "do a wheelie" then up the front end rises! Thanks for the solid content man!
cheers mate, good to see someone is watching :)
Always fun stumbling across Brisbane motovlogs. If you haven't tried it already look up Small Wheel Sunday at Lakeside, $50 motard track days every month or so, is a blast. Or even cheaper is Archerfield at $35 tho that might be a bit small for a drz.
Todd Murphy I just moved to London >.
hey aussier1! u make wheelies look so easy! pls do a tutorial of how u do it!:) do you use the clutch? im getting a drz soon:)
+Kevin Sam haha, good to see someone likes them! I'll whip up a video when I get a chance. I also have the footage from when I first started, so you'll be able to see that it's one of those "It wont happen over night, but it will happen" situations.
+AussieR1 hey AussieR1, just picked up my 2008 drz400e identical to yours:) what tires do you have on?dirt or motard.
i have dirt and when ever i go over 60kms something from the rear is making a funny sound. like a aeroplane engine. previous owner said its the dirt tires. is this true or is he bull shitting me? whats your opinion
+Kevin Sam +AussieR1 i think i know how u do wheelies like a pro..... is it because you a a 51 TOOTH SPROCKET?? :p lol
+Kevin Sam Hey, in this clip they are motard wheels. the dirt wheels do get pretty noisy on the road on mine too. I guess you could say its a bit like an airplane. lol.
+Kevin Sam hahaha nope! It is 14/38 on the motard wheels and 14/41 on dirt wheels. Its much easier to wheelie on the dirt wheels due to the gearing and the bigger wheels. Take the seat off and take the snorkel off the airbox to open it up. That helped low down grunt on mine a fair bit.
Funny that.. I'm on the lookout for a DRZ at the moment as well :P Just discovered your channel dude, subbed.
+Twitchel AU You wont be disappointed with either choice ;)
That testie-pop was good as! haha!
I’m getting a KTM sx 125 on Sunday because I’m starting motocross and my dad might be getting a DRZ 400 that we will both use so I’m watching this video, but right now he has a rocket 3 lol
Thinking of getting a DRZ. Peace from London
Great vid mate, hope to have a drz soon
too much fun :)
+AussieR1 im 14 looking into bigger dirt bike that can be ridden on road so basically a bike i can keep for a long time i have ridden these i like them im not a bad rider either do you suggest one of these for me?
+Ben Weber yeah, the drz is great for everything. :) best all rounder and not too expensive.
+AussieR1 Well the gearing is not really as good as it could be for road use, 1st 2nd and 3rd are a bit too close together IMO on road and it will pretty much max out at 80kph (sustainable.) You will probably catch yourself reaching for a 6th gear that just isn't there more than once.
That being said for around $600 you can buy a wider set of gears..
Great for commuting as long as you don't have to do to much 50 zone stuff as 50 is (for me) right on a shift point, and great in the bush.
Oil change is every 2735.885km (1700ml) filter every 2896.819km (1800ml) in the service manual but really you should be doing oil and filters every 1000km to keep it bulletproof.. oil and filters are cheap compared to a rebuild.
Comfy? seat is harder than a slab of granite and about as comfortable as a bed of nails.
That being said, I love my DRZ and wouldn't trade it for anything.
AussieR1 do you have to have mirrors or can you do head checks when you switch lane im in australia victoria PLEASE RESPOND
Really like those mirrors mate, where do you get them from?
They are those blind spot mirrors you get from Repco/Supercheap/Autobarn. Check the transport rules though. In QLD the law is "You must have 1 mirror on each side of the bike". There is no diameter specification.
Re filtering, how do you find the wide handlebars? I have test ridden a DRZ but it wasn't peak hour so I didn't really get a feel for what filtering would be like. I'm guessing for Brisbane the handlebars are probably higher than the mirrors on most cars people tend to drive, but curious what you think.
Todd Murphy yep, they are wide compared to the R1. They are higher than most mirrors though, so that helps.
Great vid. Just confirmed what I wanted to know.
just uploaded a vid asking myself the same question. thanks for the info!
anytime
+AussieR1 just realized your cruisin down water works rd. I used to work at rockaway records were staint george is now on the corner there ;)
Hey Aussie, What super moto rims are you running? can you recommend me a cheap place to get some? also, what tachometer are you using? cheers mate, nice vid.
+Mark “Ownage427” Ownage Hey, They are warp 9 rims (dunno the specs). The tacho is a Vapor dash :)
if you are 5'6" can you ride a DRZ400? ive had 2 yamahas and 2 kawasakis but never owned a Honda or susuki >I was attracted to this Suzuki because its a 400 and its cheaper that a Yamaha wR250
Brian Trend I'm a short arse and I can :)
Hi man I know that this is an old video but I was curious to know about that starter/kill switch that you have, it's not the OEM one but it looks so good, do you happen to know where it is from?
Hah. I never noticed it wasn’t an original. No idea where it’s from, sorry!
Definitely want one now, you gonna have to do some more videos of them wheelies 👌👌
Hi ! Nice video mate ! Do you think i can fit this bike with my 6.25 feet?
Tonton Vincent you can always raise the suspension:)
Do you think the Drz would make a good adventure bike?
+Claudio Bonetti I think it would be fine for small adventures, I wouldn't go across Australia on one though. It could do it, but there are more comfortable bikes out there. More $$ too though.
anyone know where to buy those rearview mirrors from?
only 3 years late - They are blind spot mirrors - www.autobarn.com.au/drive-wide-angle-wedge-mirror-wam87
how tall are you and would you suggest it, I'm 5'8. Little bit worried about sitting in traffic and stuff
Sphinx hey I'm 172 cms, whatever that is in crazy person measurement. tldr, I'm short. you'll be fine.
Thank you so much for the reply man, I'm 174 so yeah I'm on the short side my self. Very reassuring :)
Hey! I've seen this bike on bike sales and it has the learners approved for dirt bike. So does this mean you could get this for your lams bike or any other lams enduro bike?
yep!! seriously the best lams bike ever. if you have the coin, you can even get a wr450f. pretty epic power for a lams bike.
Nice
should I get a drz400 with a some upgrades or a dr650 with some upgrades?? I'm 6ft 6ft 1 and been riding my entire life sooo what do think??
hi! it really depends on what you want to do. As in what type of riding. The 650 seems to be more suited to longer touring than the 400. I rather the 400 but I'm a bit biased :)
Ok thanks man, I love your vids, keep up the great work
Brisbane🙌
are you riding around newmarket in this video?
yeah, past there.
DRZ - 400 or RVF400?
looks so fun!
Danne Jensen So much it's almost illegal. ;)
Cool bro.
Where did you get your mirrors from man?
Mathew Mclellan they are those blind spot mirrors you get from repco or equivalent. I just drilled some holes in them and zip tied them on :)
+AussieR1 Good idea mate
All the fcking motorcycles are at QLD nothing is at SA.
+ElectricRides haha, I noticed the same in Perth, so people pay a shitload for them. I'll ride one down there for ya ;)
DRZ400 OR KTM 450? I cant make my mind up
Drz are cheaper and more reliable but the ktm is faster you have the facts
DRZ if you want no fuss and reliability. KTM are quite neat (used to own a 530) but quite fussy with maintenance, if that makes sense.
where did you get those mirrors??
Muhammad Abdullah they are the blind spot mirrors you get to stick on car mirrors. I drilled holes through them and zip tied them on. :) you can get them from any auto shop. Mine were from repco.
genius, will try this out
Didn't think I'd ever hear Zwëihander in a moto review xD
+VeeDees The Tek
thoughts on the ducatti 659LAMS
DoctorZututu they look really nice if you have the money. But in my opinion I would get a cheap bike that is easily fixed if/when dropped. The cost of replacement is always in the back of your mind when learning on expensive bikes, limiting your experience.
sweet makes total sense, I was thinking the same thing. CRF250L it is?
great vid bro.
Cheers mate :)
What exhaust do you have
