- Thats me on a weeks holiday after 2 freezing weeks commuting and 18 miles at 14 C is no fun!
I got a lot to do this week when off including fitting trail trees to the Enfield along with a new clutch to my Willys Jeep, but also will be getting out beach riding on the Fatbikes!
But this wee film is so me worth while puncture prep equipment worth carrying to get you back home rather than waiting hours for a recovery vehicle!
If you enjoyed this check out my playlist for my Royal enfield Classic 350, thanks!

Great stuff bruce.
Had way more bikes with tubes than tubeless.
A guy the other day said no way would he ever have tubes.
All I said was Mick Hailwood Jeff Duke and Agostini seemed to get by ok.
Good point about the old pros using tubes!, all my trail bikes had tubes and did not get that many punctured with them in the 20 years or so riding them 👍😁
Very useful to see what you're packing for those unforeseeable moments...although you seem to have foreseen them all! Too many riders these days would just throw their hands up in dismay and call the AA/RAC for a puncture. Now I know what to be carrying in my panniers once I get them for my Classic 350!
Like when cycling the plan is if you carry it all you never need it! lol
Cheers Bruce
yes Bruce 👍heidenau is perfect front k60 rear k60 scout
Hi, I just fitted these this morning and will have a film up on them this evening!
Cheers Bruce
@@Coastriderscotland yes perfect i have the same ones when i finish painting and with all the work i will send you mine need some more time...thanks for your shots
my re almost fell over like yours🤣 thank you Bruce
Got to hand it to you guys across the pond. Just watched a guy take a BSA test ride in +1 C ! Seems much like working on a scaled up bicycle wheel. I purchased teflon coated phillips puncture repair screws last summer. Two days later my wife drove over a sheet metal screw on her motor bike and then a nail while driving her van. Both tires are still holding air. Have to give up classic spoked wheels is the drawback. Mountain bike pump is a great idea.
The cold spells often only last a week or so then often the weather warms up though we then often get wind or rain! 🤣😁
Cheers Bruce
Hi Bruce, just like to say how much I enjoy your channel especially when you are out for a wee run on your Enfield 350. Brilliant roads and history,we are very lucky to have all this in our local area. I live on the other side of the Forth near Kirkcaldy and have enjoyed many trips along the East Neuk this summer on my Enfield 350discovering quiet back roads and historic places. Keep up the good work 👍. Tam Docherty
Hi Tam, I plan to get over to Fife on day trips as I love going there with the Secret Bunker and lovely harbours to visit!
Cheers Bruce
If you know where the leak is or can hear it when you pump then just pop the bead at that spot or enough to pull out the part of the tube that has the hole. No removing the wheel as long as you can pull the bead off and still rotate the tire.
True that can also be done Daniel 👍 thanks for sharing, cheers Bruce
Very cool video. Love the 2x4 ideal..
Hi Mark, thanks for watching and leaving a reply!, and good you like the 2x4 idea 😁👍
Cheers Bruce
Like the block of wood idea 👍
Thanks, it works for the front but two pieces are needed for under each side of the centre stand to raise it enough to remove the rear wheel with out help from someone, I found this out today when refitting my rear wheel and the bike rolled forward off of the centre stand , it was nearly a disaster!, you will see it on my next film fitting the new tyres this evening at 7pm when it goes live!
Cheers Bruce
Parabéns ... vídeo muito bom 👍
Thank you 😁
So glad I'm retired now. I spent years commuting by bike all year round and had a similar range of stuff plus spanners, allen keys etc etc. I was lucky because I only had to change a tube once over 25 years and rarely needed any of the tools although I always carried them.
Hi Stu P, most of my punctures were from trail riding in the past riding past ruin buildings or farm yards etc..
Cheers Bruce
and the puncture ALWAYS happens at the MOST inappropriate time...dark+wet etc... i always carry tyre weld.. its saved me once..got home no aggro (even tho im in the AA) ...
id also recommend pre loading the tube with that green SLIME puncture stuff .. they sell it in ASDA.... i recently nipped a brand new tube on my trials bike.... i filled the valve with a bottle of slime... spun it an stopped it a few times and it fixed it..... (i hate tubes)....lol
I got tyre weld on board and slime in the tubes! 😁👍👍👍 I’m a total prepper! 🤣😁👍
I reckon a rust patina would really suit that colour way.
Hi Julian, yep it will certainly give it an aged look!
Cheers Bruce
Great tips! Yes, I carry spare tubes and a Lezyne pump too. You did not say what the Gorilla tape rings were for. On my Classic, I found my rear wheel a real struggle to fit back on (Classic 500 'Tribute'). It will be interesting to see if yours is different. Thanks for the info!
Hi Peter, the Gorilla tape i have on all my mountainbike pumps as handy for making repairs to anything and if some is wrapped around the pump then you always have some with you!, I just fitted my new tyres and the back wheel was also a bit of a drama to refit, a spacer kept falling out until I held it in with a dollop of grease!
Tyre fitting film will be on here this evening 7pm ish!
Cheers Bruce
Hi i em exited fore what you think of the tyres, i em picking up my K60 front on monday next week but they did not have back tyre in stock hope they can get one before summer ! have some nice dirt roads to explore mary xmas and happy new yare 🙂 ps parden my bad english🙄
Hi s.k I’m just waiting for temps to get above freezing to get out and about - on holiday this week too! 🤣
But I’m sure it will turn mild again soon!
Cheers Bruce
Any plans of doing a vid on tube changing? Interesting stuff. Cheers
Hi, you can watch my tyre swap film when I fitted the trail tyres, you can see what to do and not to do re fitting the rear wheel! 🤣😁

Bonjours,j'aime beaucoup ce que vous avez fait de vôtre moto et cette logique suivit quand aux bagages.....
Thank you Alain

What make are those panniers/racks please? Excellent tip with the wood. On that now......
They were bought from Indra via eBay and arrived in U.K. in under a week but sadly have proved a bad buy. They are not genuine RE parts and the panniers don’t even fit over the left side frame, most of the bolts were not long enough and the powder coating is flaking at the welds where rust is coming through, they were dark grey when bought and in 3 months outdoors have faded to v light grey, I painted them when I painted my bike and when I have the spare money I will be replacing them with genuine panniers and racks from Hitchcocks Motorcycles Here in the U.K.
the old say buy good buy once is so true!
Cheers Bruce
I've never thought about using a bicycle pump before on my Classic. I've always had a 12v power socket wired into my previous bikes with a normal electric tyre pump in my panniers.
What make of pump should I look for?
I don't want to buy one that's gonna break the first time I use it.
Hi, I use Leyzene pumps, they cost around £30 - £40 but are really good and you can buy replacement internals for them, I now have 4 of them bought over the last 15 years and the original one still works a treat,
Cheers Bruce
ah , those ammo pouches are a great idea
Hi John, there also cheap and last it seems forever, the Kaki colour ones I have are dated 1944!
Cheers Bruce
Hi bruce waterproofed mine, melted half beeswax and couple of cheap Ikea candles brushed it on and blew it through the canvas with a hot air gun still waterproof after 3 years
Mais comme suis suis pas très manuelle je me contenterai de bagages et une bombe anti crevaison😉😁✌🇫🇷
😁👍
You put me to shame. When out on the mountain bike I will carry all the gear and gladly repair a tyre at the side of the road. However with regards to my classic 350 it's not equipped with panniers and therefore any problems I would call out recovery. What a defeatist attitude!!! With regards to protecting your bike during winter riding I'm aware you use GT85. A friend who rides all year has recommended Scottoiler FS 365 which I purchased £12.99. Apparently it is very good at preventing corrosion caused by salt. Have you used it before ? Looking forward to the changing of the tyres.👍
I've used the scotoiler 365 before. It does a reasonable job, but looks very messy on the bike, it has a dirty blue tinge to it.
I now use acf50 to protect my bike. I got the big bottle of it rather than the spray can. It's easy to end up spraying it in the wrong place, whereas with the liquid you can put it on a cloth and rub it onto where you want it.
@@the.just.able.biker67 Thanks for that and I agree regarding a bit messy. I had to use a cloth to take off the excess. Probably more suitable for my friends BMW GS but not my red and chrome classic. Thanks again and I will look into the acf 50.👍
As mentioned above in a comment I believe if you carry it you will never need it!, I need to look that up the Scot oilas while the Lanoguard is great for likes of my Jeep chassis I would previously us ACF 50 for motorbikes. its a bit pricey now and I still have a few other rust proofing treatments left in garage like the Lanoguard so will use what I have plus maybe some Scot oil
Cheers Bruce
