Ross, you should ABSOLUTELY play The Legend of Kyrandia 2 and 3 (if you haven't already). They are pure gold! In second part you play for Zanthia and the third - for the Jester, Malcolm! SPOILER: He turned out to be not that evil after all. More of a classic trickster archetype.
Second time I've watched this series. Please keep this series up Ross. There is no one like you on UA-cam. This series is by far my favorite playlist on UA-cam. I'll be rewatching this playlist till the day I die.
I loved this time in PC games. Games made you take notes, draw your own maps and actually make you use your brain. You don't get those aspects today and I feel fortunate I experienced titles like this growing up.

As long as you know the basics of the setting and something fits what _could_ feasibly be done in that setting, you don't have too hard a time accepting it.
I prefer the old style. I love watching your in depth reviews of some obscure DOS game that me or no one else will probably play. There's a lot of meat to them which I enjoy sitting back and watching compared to other game reviews.

a king must be corrinated, until there is a valid king found (this can take a while) the kingdom will be in interregnum. maybe the interregnum council was well liked and no one cared to find a new king.
Or maybe the monarchy has a different sucession method, like they elect kings or something? Or someone else took over the throne and Brandon was just keeping his head down trying not to get caught up in a succession war with his grandfather? Or...something?

Read up on ANY European monarchy's history and you'll find it didn't work like Disney fairy tales where the son of the former king is automatically the next king. Also few kings were totalitarian leaders like Ross makes it out to be, usually some form of council of local lords held the most power as they were the ones to supply the army that kept the king in power. If a king tried to hog too much power it wasn't uncommon for the royalty to find someone else who descended from one of the previous kings and usurp the throne making a deal with the new king to limit his power.

Spoiler? Cut corners? People complaining about the original format? Man, fuck them! I for one have really enjoyed your Game Dungeons. They have a unique, unrushed, and thorough style to them that explores games in a fantastic style. No flashy intros, no obnoxious references to "dank memes", just a well thought out review with some high brow jokes sprinkled in. The fact that a series can effortlessly go from philisophy to a discussion about the political and plutocracy of the United States to subtle jokes shows that a lot of effort is put into it. I think the fact that you bothered with getting through the entirety of Realms of the Haunting shows how determined you can be. That game comes to mind specifically because there was just so much shit to cover. The game changes the scene so much and there's a surprising amount of story that a shorter video would have to skip through. Hell, most reviewers wouldn't even bother because it'd be too time consuming or "too haaaaaaard" to get past the first level. You're an intelligent man and your reviews show that. Keep up the excellent work!
i think it would of been because. 1) length of the video 2) the lack of content and getting side track and talking randomly about other topics, outside of the game in question 3) question plot points and game logic, and possible making theories. 4) no awards 5) no bigger picture (which game dungeon doesn't all way do, but it does quite a bit) 6) suggetions to make the game better/to make a similar game better. these 6 points is what i feel make a good game dungeon episode. and is what game dungeon is all about.

I'm kind of interested in this game based just on the backgrounds. It's really nice to look at, especially that cave bit with the moonlit ocean in the background. I love how fantasy games have practically infinite possibility for beautiful scenery and atmosphere. Great video Ross, and however you chose to progress, you should just do what feels right. I'll always just be happy to be shown this stuff I was never aware of.

I was going to say "this game looks like it wouldn't be out of place on somewhere like GOG", but lo and behold! The Legend of Kyrandia and its sequels are ALL on GOG. So, yeah! If you're interested, you can buy the games for relatively cheap on that site. I think it was about £5 for the original, but currently you can get all three in a bundle for £12. And judging by the quality of the first game, you could probably do a lot worse.
Seeing the name Kyrandia got me excited for this episode and I really enjoyed it but compared to other longer, more in depth Game Dungeon episodes this feels like something's missing especially since I have fond memories of playing this game long ago. On the other hand I do understand needing time to finish the movie and FM2. Great video, we just want more Ross!

Kings/Queens marry other nobles but aren't necessarily royalty. If his grandfather married into the family, then he might become Regent until Brandon was old enough to rule. Regency councils usually led by a Regent run monarchies when the ruler isn't old enough or too sick to rule.

I knew this day would eventually come: a Game Dungeon episode for a game I actually finished! Man, the amount of gems strewn about in this game is staggering, and it's in service for what, one or two puzzles? If this review had awards, I'm sure one of them would be "Most Precious Stones."
The kingdom was probably under a regency council (Likely the mage's council) until Brandon grew up. Once he came of age and they saw he was an idiot though, they probably decided to play it safe and see if he got his act together Oh, and the "Big maze under a mountain that you need to cross through to get to other side of place" thing is likely a reference to the mines of moria form Lord of the Rings
LordoftheGame Nah, Fallout 1 is pretty small, it can be beaten in less than 10 hours, and since Ross has already completed it wouldn't be very hard. He's done longer games for sure, like Deus Ex
I'd say Arcanum is far more obscure and needs some love. Though I am supprised with how popular Fallout 3-4 from Bethesda is that there hasn't been a great interest of the new generations playing Fallout 1-2 and maybe Tactics. Further, Arcanum has an alternative to slow turn based combat and has an orgasmic soundtrack.
Actually it makes sense that Brandon is a prince and his grandfather lives in the tree house. It’s likely, based off what is seen, that the title is mostly ceremonial and used for grand magic at the island. His grandfather could have entered into the royal family by marriage and, thus, would not be first in line for the throne. Since Brandon is… Brandon the wizards just sort of take care of him and keep him busy until his power is necessary.
I feel like I played this game as a kid but I only remember the tree morphing into a face. Strange feeling, this semi-nostalgia for a game I may never have touched.
I liked the fact that you talk about soundtracks for game dungeon, and it isn't really overdone in your episodes. With Rama you outdid your obligation, and I'm absoloutely biased as an aspiring composer that is studying creative music technology, but I feel like you having a small part talking about a games soundtrack gives some deserved credit to the people who worked hard on them. It isn't an easy job man, don't get rid of that.
I'm really excited about more videos more frequently because i think it will generate higher visibility for the channel however; people in the comments seem to be missing the point and I'm not sure any amount of further explaining will get through to them. Ross has stated that this "mini style" format is not an overhaul. There are a lot of games people want him to cover that aren't quite worth a full Game Dungeon with exposes, backstory, and theorizing so instead they'll be covered in this format. He's mentioned multiple times in the comment section and in the video chats that these shorter, less indepth Game Dungeons are just to increase activity and output on the channel while he works on the less frequent and deeper covered episodes. Keep up the amazing work Ross, thoroughly enjoyed this.

Gotta admit I don't really care about lenght of videos. Games like this I don't really care if videos are shorter, but if it strikes your fancy they can be longer, I just like your humor and videos.
I may have played this game from start to finish more than any other adventure game. The Wisp form music is my second favourite after Brandon's Forrest. I played with the Sound Blaster version of the music though, which is preferred. Thanks for nodding this game.
Ross, the new editor did a great job! And frankly I loved this style of VO commentary with sprinklings of gameplay. I usually listen to your videos when I sleep (I like your voice and you keep nice even sound levels with no real instances of sudden screaming) so gameplay footage is not even really necessary for me to enjoy it. Keep up the great work!

I knew this day would eventually come: a Game Dungeon episode for a game I actually finished! Man, the amount of gems strewn about in this game is staggering, and it's in service for what, one or two puzzles? If this review had awards, I'm sure one of them would be "Most Precious Stones."
The kingdom was probably under a regency council (Likely the mage's council) until Brandon grew up. Once he came of age and they saw he was an idiot though, they probably decided to play it safe and see if he got his act together
Oh, and the "Big maze under a mountain that you need to cross through to get to other side of place" thing is likely a reference to the mines of moria form Lord of the Rings

LordoftheGame Nah, Fallout 1 is pretty small, it can be beaten in less than 10 hours, and since Ross has already completed it wouldn't be very hard. He's done longer games for sure, like Deus Ex
I'd say Arcanum is far more obscure and needs some love. Though I am supprised with how popular Fallout 3-4 from Bethesda is that there hasn't been a great interest of the new generations playing Fallout 1-2 and maybe Tactics. Further, Arcanum has an alternative to slow turn based combat and has an orgasmic soundtrack.
I just beat this game last night because of this video and I have two things to say:

Actually it makes sense that Brandon is a prince and his grandfather lives in the tree house. It’s likely, based off what is seen, that the title is mostly ceremonial and used for grand magic at the island. His grandfather could have entered into the royal family by marriage and, thus, would not be first in line for the throne.
Since Brandon is… Brandon the wizards just sort of take care of him and keep him busy until his power is necessary.
Okay, played the game again after 20 years. Fuck that maze with the fireberries. I can't believe I had more patience when I was 10.
I kinda missed the length of other episodes, but for it's duration, this is as good as the others

I feel like I played this game as a kid but I only remember the tree morphing into a face. Strange feeling, this semi-nostalgia for a game I may never have touched.
This was great! Laughed the whole time. I hope that we can see more episodes like this, as well as the longer, more in-depth ones.

It was a good episode, length be damned.
I liked the fact that you talk about soundtracks for game dungeon, and it isn't really overdone in your episodes. With Rama you outdid your obligation, and I'm absoloutely biased as an aspiring composer that is studying creative music technology, but I feel like you having a small part talking about a games soundtrack gives some deserved credit to the people who worked hard on them. It isn't an easy job man, don't get rid of that.
I'm really excited about more videos more frequently because i think it will generate higher visibility for the channel however; people in the comments seem to be missing the point and I'm not sure any amount of further explaining will get through to them. Ross has stated that this "mini style" format is not an overhaul. There are a lot of games people want him to cover that aren't quite worth a full Game Dungeon with exposes, backstory, and theorizing so instead they'll be covered in this format. He's mentioned multiple times in the comment section and in the video chats that these shorter, less indepth Game Dungeons are just to increase activity and output on the channel while he works on the less frequent and deeper covered episodes.
Keep up the amazing work Ross, thoroughly enjoyed this.

Gotta admit I don't really care about lenght of videos. Games like this I don't really care if videos are shorter, but if it strikes your fancy they can be longer, I just like your humor and videos.

I may have played this game from start to finish more than any other adventure game. The Wisp form music is my second favourite after Brandon's Forrest. I played with the Sound Blaster version of the music though, which is preferred. Thanks for nodding this game.
Ross, the new editor did a great job! And frankly I loved this style of VO commentary with sprinklings of gameplay. I usually listen to your videos when I sleep (I like your voice and you keep nice even sound levels with no real instances of sudden screaming) so gameplay footage is not even really necessary for me to enjoy it. Keep up the great work!
