In place of the newspaper you can also carry some sealable sandwich bags around with you. Blow them up seal them and stuff your gear with them. It's like double glazing under your jacket. And a little easier to carry than a newspaper. Also good to pop your phone or any other electrics in.
? why not getting just some good first layer underwear which will keep you warm. Not need to do stuff with newspaper. Riding can be totally fine even in cold weather if you got the right clothes
@@Auctor137 totally agree, of course having the right gear is ideal. Firstly it's worth mentioning your first layer is only as good as your 3rd layer. I've occasionally gone out during the day when it's been warm, foregone my merino first layer or popped on a summer 3rd layer and the weather has suddenly turned an hour or 2 away from home, or I've stayed out much longer than I anticipated. Yup, he dressed too light. Also, if he mounted the gopro elsewhere and leaned more to the front, he could be less cold... I bought a longer plexiglass for my bike when I had it, and it made a huge difference especially when it was cold.
It’s nice to appreciate the thought that goes into filming this. They knew ahead of time what sort of shot they wanted, with Jack looking at the camera for an extended period, but it’s fun to think about the reality of filming it!
Alex you absolutely fudged this one up! I thought you were gonna bring this home for the brotherhood of motorcycling! Instead I don't get to see ethans smug face freezing to death. Unreal
Lessons: 1. In a 'race' don't stop 2. Don't believe anything the opposing team tell you. 3. Wear winter gear...glad you had heated grips, I swear by them. 4. Using a taxi is a cheat...you should've claimed victory. Man you let every motorcyclist down 😉 but glad you enjoyed the lakeside roads and that is the main point.
This made me laugh so hard! I know the pain of a long motorcycle drive in the cold (and wet), going on while regretting every life choice that lead to that moment. Seeing Alex expression when realising he had to go into the water after already lowering his core temperature to my ex's frozen heart level was worth a lot. Seeing him going past the point of no return and dipping sausage and meatballs in the water envisioning how those balls would retract so deep in his intestines he would have no saddle aches on the way home...priceless! Still chuckling now. Doesn't it just suck when you get to a great set of bends, that it's wet and you just can't take 'em on like you would normally? I remember a drive from Arnhem to saint brieuc (bretagne). It started to rain heavily on the border with belgium and one week later it stopped raining when driving back in to the Netherlands. Wet, cold and miserable on a xj600 wearing xxl kitchen gloves over my bike gloves, walking around like an astronaut in motor gear, rain gear and backpack.
It's one of the things I enjoy the most. You can get ridiculous amounts of fun and performance for the cost when it comes to motorcycles. You just gotta really take it easy at first and learn how to mitigate the risks of getting hurt.
Great vid. Just seen one of the many adds, this one was for Bennets with a caption of "behind every ride is preparation"..... 3 minutes ago, no breakfast need more fuel and I'm cold. Made me chuckle, nice one boys!
Depends. Support car may be a factor. The bike he's using isn't very well suited for this type of situation, + you're generally slower when it's cold/wet outside and you need to allocate time to warming up, etc etc.
@@ThaSideWeed No depending at all. If he was allowed to filter and ignore the support car filming him the bike woulda got there way faster. Plus the fact they lied to him too lol.

The first time my mom wants to watch a CarThrottle video with me😂😂
not first. but this is a flashback to og top gear!
That was truly a genuine pleasure to watch!! The enthusiasm scale of these guys really goes beyond and I'd like to see more of this content made tbh.
I’ve been saying this for a while but these guys are the new Top Gear, forget the bbc this is better
WingCommander Falcon This will never be better than Top Gear (JJR)
Clear that they'll develop and merge into it... Just a matter of time. Good luck guys.
@@eoincannon4032 this is far better than the new top gear
@@eoincannon4032 oh yeah absolutely but they’re a damn sight better than the three absolute jokes they call presenters at the moment
@@wingcommanderfalcon5035 now c'mon that's not fair Chris Harris is excellent the other 2 jokes are shit!!
"Alex, what's 2+2 ?"
*throws rock*
Always wanted to do this myself, great shout guys 👍
I saw some dead sheep in Ullswater once...
Congrats Ethan and Jack 👍🏻
This has happened before long ago in London only
This video is sponsored by McDonald's. 🍔🍟🥤

What?
I got that reference! Top Gear London Race to London City Airport. But we have no Boat here...
@@kobrien4121 Burger King too.
Top Gear: UA-cam edition. I love it!!
Alex, I would suggest you to wear some motorcycle undercap or anything like this, to keep your neck warm, otherwise you will have problems with throat.
Yup, he dressed too light.
Also, if he mounted the gopro elsewhere and leaned more to the front, he could be less cold...
I bought a longer plexiglass for my bike when I had it, and it made a huge difference especially when it was cold.
Loved this and a GPS tracker on a little map would make it sooo much better, definitely keep doing this
I had google maps open listing all the locations as I watched 😂
The taunting starts before the race even starts !
That's actually a good start !
Alex shouldn't have gone for a swim, Jack and Ethan should have gone for a cheat forfeit
This has some serious quality to it and I cannot wait to see more.
Total respect to you Alex, some balls doing that. The lake district is gorgeous but I felt for you having to brave Ullswater in winter.
The correct answer: Everyone jumps in 1 car, and splits the driving.
Yeah but if Ethan takes a stint they'll definitely lose the race
5:10
*The video was sped up so he was staring at you for at least 3-4 minutes*
It’s nice to appreciate the thought that goes into filming this. They knew ahead of time what sort of shot they wanted, with Jack looking at the camera for an extended period, but it’s fun to think about the reality of filming it!
Glad I wasn't the only one thinking this 😂
Please keep including bikes! Great stuff!
Public transport I like building model buses
Why aren't you closing the schools Boris?
Eat out help out
@Mo Man me too
Starve a kid to save a quid
And drinking wine
This was brilliant. You guys have been on fire the last 6-12 months. Love the content 👍🏻
Alex you absolutely fudged this one up! I thought you were gonna bring this home for the brotherhood of motorcycling! Instead I don't get to see ethans smug face freezing to death. Unreal
I was rooting for Ethan and Jack the whole way. As Clarkson says, only maniacs ride motorbikes.

Nah it was a 2 Stroke 80cc that got him
Lessons:
1. In a 'race' don't stop
More of this! You’re taking over the true spirit of Top Gear.
Dude, you are thinking to much about other men balls.
These guys should be the new Top Gear! Jeremy, James, and Richard go on Car Throttle and pass the torch!
Absolutely loved this. More if you're able please! The mix of content is great at the moment.
Tonight on a Car Throttle special...
Jack falls asleep...
Ethan lists modes of transport...
and Alex takes his shirt off...
Do dodo dooooo do doo do do do doo doo doooooo....
I've been genuinely interested in getting a bike for a while. This might have just convinced me
Do it. Did my test 4 years ago and loved it ever since.
Good luck
You absolutely should. Best decision I ever made. Just remember to keep your head on a swivel and ride defensively
It's one of the things I enjoy the most. You can get ridiculous amounts of fun and performance for the cost when it comes to motorcycles. You just gotta really take it easy at first and learn how to mitigate the risks of getting hurt.
It's the best thing since sliced bread.
Do it!
I genuinely laughed out loud at so much of this.
Great production, more please!
4:42 I would take the motorcycle any day,
Would like to see more Motorcycle content
you would take the motorcycle. ok, big man. we all care abt ur opinion xD
He walked out the water like it was an audition for James Bond.

@@CRBMA7 no
Great vid.
Just seen one of the many adds, this one was for Bennets with a caption of "behind every ride is preparation"..... 3 minutes ago, no breakfast need more fuel and I'm cold.
Made me chuckle, nice one boys!
The only reason Alex lost is because he had to wait for the support car, so that they could film him riding.
Why do I read comments before watching the video, spoiled the end before I'm 5 minutes in
totally
Oh fuck why did I go to the comments before I finished
To answer all the questions about "would you rather be in this specific mode of public transport or on the bike?" on the bike.
Unless it's snowing it'll always be the bike.
This reminded me of old top gear challenges. I love it. Please make more of them.
When Corona is over, you should race from London to somewhere else in Europe. That would be cool!!!
