I mean.... in general... all the best players did compete. Not all the time, but in general yeah.
Like obviously things like the Widow 1 v 1 tournament were just the best hitscan players.. but even there they usually were the best hitscan players that they could round up.
The all star game isn’t popular.. it also isn’t on lan which made it even more fun

I think.. The Rock has done some genuinely great roles.. but obviously a lot of his movies aren't exactly high substance. I think Batista, given his limited time comparatively to The Rock, has shown he's the better overall actor though.
In that upcoming Shyamalan movie he looks to be taking on a very different role from his typical strong idiot typecast.

I think Matt has spent his entire time away from Plat Chat in training at Blizzard learning how talk for an hour without saying anything at all.
I like Sean he seems like a really nice and down to earth guy.
I like how according to Custa's definition "have you been on WWE at some point and have you appeared in a movie", Donald Trump is technically a wrestling actor.
PLEASE have some format where you do competitive capture the flag and competitive lockout elimination. Back in OW1 it's obvious the devs put significant effort into those game modes. I can't believe no tournaments have leveraged those "werido" game modes. Lockout Elim is particularly great because it forces crazy hero diversity because your team can't use the same heroes after you win a round with them. I really think off-season esport level competitive play in those modes would be an awesome way to open up the game play experience.
I miss Mr. X on these so bad. The dynamic is hilarious.

41:44 increasing the minimum age for contenders seems like huge news. Is it only for eastern division? I would assume it’s for all regions that can compete.
I’m interested in seeing what type of competitive events are open for people under the OWL minimum age because historically we’ve had a ton of talent too young to join OWL pop off in contenders first.

Finally all the people who have said "they don't care about Tier 2 or contenders". Sounds like Sean wanted to do this for a bit but maybe it was taking awhile to get it together. Exciting stuff still.
Wondering if they are integrating contenders etc as a result of franchise contracts breaking down a bit
I think the initial term of the franchise contracts was 5 years, so they probably have more flexibility now to open it up.
I have my fingers crossed that this is the first step towards a promotion/relegation system (yes that is copium).

After losing Jspex to the commercial team, I thought OWL leadership would struggle, but I’m glad we have Sean! Navigated the league well last year and looks to be helming it into a great future! Looking forward to season 6!
I only don’t like the tournament format, only 6 teams make the msm so my favorite team could not make a tournament all heat until playoffs potentially. Only having 1 tournament before playoffs, might make things more stale throughout the season. In my opinion reg season games get boring after awhile we will see.
I couldn't even pay attention to this episode because the Rock vs Bautista debate is somehow still a debate. It's Bautista, and it's not even close. Watch some movies ffs. /rant
Are there any news about the Chinese Teams? It seems everyone is just staying clear of that subject.
I believe they mentioned near the beginning that they had time to work things out with the Chinese teams so presumably they'll compete, we just don't know where from, for example, or if they're going to rebrand
@@jackburgess3681 I saw on the world cup schedule they had china Taipei. I wouldn't see the main teams playing there bit honestly I couldn't care less where they played. Just want to see them out there

Also I gotta say, love most of the new format, but unbelievably disappointed they went back to 16 regular season games. The one season we have of low games was my least favourite season, and you could really notice certain teams getting unlucky in one or two matches, or with scheduling, and lose their entire season over it. They even said last year that the increase from 16 to 24 was good because 16 felt too few, and now here we are again...
If OWL team needs to qualify by playing with OC team, why did they pay the franchise fee? Doesn’t sound fair.

Imagine paying 60MM to have a spot in the league to just turn around and loose to an open division team that has no cost windows

I don't know how the APAC teams don't sue the Overwatch League or Blizzard after allowing non-Franchise teams a chance to play in the league and possibly take their spots for tournaments and possible money.
maybe Blizzard dont take their money for the seat? With everything going on with the Netease problem, it's amazing that APAC teams still stays in the league
So these pro teams who paid Millions of dollars for a spot in the league, can loose to a contenders team in the grand finals now? bruh..
