To fix the issue of the tattoos with writing being backwards, just do it in reverse order. Pour the background first, put the tattoos on that, then pour the clear over the top.
I think your amazing 👏 😉 💖 I starting watching you like year ago but I can't do resin for money issues personal problems but I still love love to watch you and I'm gonna join ❤️ ♥️ 😊🎉🎉🎉 I love the tattoos ideas 💡 for the grandkids n kids ❤❤❤❤
I really loved that notebook cover, didn't it come out well! You're my favourite resiner Steve. There are lots of resin heads in UA-cam land, but none like you Steve. You show the whole process including errors and I really love that! You're the best! Have a fantastic day. God bless you and yours Steve.
I do love how the book cover came out, even the "mistake" just gave it more character. With black & translucent tattoos like the tiger one, you could also try painting on top of areas of the tattoo after it's dry (with actual paint or mixing a bit of gloss medium/clear glue with pigments to make a paint, maybe some glow-in-the-dark powder/paint, or using colored UV resin if you don't want to wait long for dry times) before filling in the background resin color. That way you can customize it even more! Using temporary tattoos is actually pretty common among resin artists. I often see the people who cover tumblers with resin use them, especially the "full sleeve" tattoos since those are generally big enough to cover both sides of a tumbler with a consistent design that isn't identical (when cut approximately in half). Those kind of tattoos might also work well for your book covers so keep an eye out for them.
I was impressed because I was thinking even if the tattoo dod stay in the resin the side near the silicone would rub off once you removed it. But it didn't! Amazing
I love using temp tattoos in resin. I've been doing that (and using nail art) for quite awhile now. Stickers too! BTW, the one you messed up and the tattoo stuck to the clear film.... you can still use that one. Just put it in the mold with the clear film on and pour your resin carefully to not trap air bubbles under the film.
Agh! My secret is out! Lol. I had been saving some special (to me) temp tattoos in my jewelry box for the last 30 years and not wanting to use them because then they’d be gone. Then last year I started resin art and I thought 💡 Ding ding ding! I can embed them in resin and keep the pretty images forever! Of course I bought some other ones to practice with first, and now I’m obsessed! My favourite thing to do.
so often i’ll click on a video not paying attention to who posted it and be like “oh yeah this looks awesome” then almost every time i’m soon to realize it’s my dude Steve McDonald! GREAT videos! imo you’re the best in resin tutorials and you’re so informative and give it to us real, the good, bad and ugly. very helpful and fun to watch content, i learn a lot here. THANKS!!!
You can also transfer them to clear transparency paper, then trim the paper down to just around the edges of the tattoo and sink it in resin. This gives you a little more control over placement, if you are making something very fiddly. If you do multiple resin layers, you can also give the piece more depth.
The tattoos look great… except for the ones with words..l they are in mirror image… but the pictures or the avatars are phenomenal l.. and I love love love that tiger for the notebook!!! Beautiful!!!!!
OMG ... I can"t believe you never did this before .... I have been using them forever ....dab i with a damp cloth don''t spray it .... prevents more bubbles and if there is a bubble smooth it carefully with a damp cloth ... just remember they are sticky so the will need a top coat if applied on the top of the resin .... these turned out great ❤️
the Lion book cover is flippin amazipants. I have an idea to make a book cover with a guitar in it for my husband. I've never tried resin before but always wanted to. thankyou for sharing your ideas
Wowzers!!!! Steve, you genius you!!!! What I really like about the tattoos is they have no background, as opposed to many stickers with white backgrounds!!!! I love the 3d effect with the Hulk coaster!!! So cool!!
So I am late to the resin party, but enjoy watching your channel. I find coaster molds are boring, so I add crushed rocks and when hardened, I drill a hole and make a hanging thing, like wind chimes. One of my mold orders were squares, and I bought them thinking the would be used for a square bowl, but nope, just a square. So I ordered double photo prints, glued them together, poured resin and before totally hard, added the print. Let it sit a few days and did the final pour sometimes I add chipped rocks to line as a frame. Doing both sides is good just in case one side gets a bubble, whoops! Still working on that!
The note pad is so awesome!, my daughter just graduated from college, this will be awesome to make her a notebook with her colors and emblem in it! Thanks!
I have done this both with the tattoo directly on the siliconmold and with a thin layer of resin poured first (left to cure) and both ways worked fine. 🤩
All's well that ends well.... This certainly ends well 😃!! The door plack is a wonderful idea for the child/children in anyone's life. I'm making some as soon as I get back from the store.... No tats right now! Must pick up some while I'm shopping. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL OF THE MOTHER'S. Stay safe, you do you, and stay crafty 👍👍🛎️🔔🛎️🔔🦋🦋
These Came Out Really Great 👍 However I Am Curious If You Did A Layer Let It Cured Then Add The Transfer And Then A Final Coat Of Resin Even Different Colors And Layers That Would Be Fun!!!!
You can actually use the tattoo while stuck to the transparency sheet. I sometimes use it that way purposely depending on how small or flimsy the piece.
Kia ora from Aotearoa (New Zealand) Oh my good'a'ness I love you, you are so funny & you make my day with your awesome "Carry on if you make a mistake" attitude. You really help me out when I'm having a bit of a depressed day, so thank you for being you 🤩🥰😍 Oh & I love your idea, me & my daughter are definitely going to make these 🙃🙂
I have forgotten to take the plastic off before too. But you can still use it. The plastic is clear and will disappear in the resin. I love using tattoos in my resin pieces.
I’ve had loads of fun doing these. What out for dark colours if you use colours. I found a thin layer of clear resin stops it wearing off 👍👍👍👍👍. I’m glad you’ve done this. Nice one 👍👍👍
Blessings from Brooklyn Ny Just love them all I was thinking about that before on my thumbler it came out beautiful thanks for sharing and continue with your creations
I have used tattoos in place of like a rub on transfer on wood, but I never thought about resin and that makes me excited I have some REALLY neat ones 🫶
What a brilliant idea...I now have a gift for all my grandkids for Christmas..I love love love the notebook cover!! The rest is good too...but that cover rocks!
ive done it I loved the effect off it i did it with stickers too but you have to modge the sticker down and let it dry then modge the top. I made a cookbook and a music book i love them molds
HI Steve, My goodness WOW super cool or what I have never used tattoos but I will definitely be giving it a go thanks so much Mate for taking the time to share very much appreciated 👍✨🦋
Hi Steve 😄 hope you don’t mind me saying but you sound like Alan Carr,I could listen to you all day and night! Love Alan Carr!!! I’ll certainly be giving the tats a go,looks great! Thankyou for sharing and have a great day! Wendy 😁
Hi everyone o my goodness I just Truly Love how that book cover came out just Beautiful and I just Truly Love Tigers and I just Truly Love the gold they go great together and yes I just Truly Love the tiger with the blue eyes too but it still came out to be truly Awesome and amazing keep up the Awesomeness because you Truly are Awesome and I just Truly Love to hear your voice it's very peaceful and I just Truly Love the sound of your voice it's just lovely hopefully you will use the tiger with the blue eyes in another video thanks again for sharing GOD BLESS
Those really turned out great! I love the tiger. Very pretty! It's really cool that you can put the tattoo on the mold and it will come off onto the resin. It kind of gives it a 3D effect. I might have to try that some time.
6:50 when I use Decals for my Nails :) I make sure that the surface of the Nail has a little bit of water on it because it will enable me to slide the picture/decal around. I also use a very wet Q-tip to smooth it out...bubbles, folds, creases. :)
I've done these in resin a few times but I started out putting small ones on little jewelry boxes and such. Even pendants with small ones look really nice.
I love watching you Steve you show us everything good bad and mistakes. This I feel is why you have such a good following of people, you are the real deal regardless of what the dado’s say. Love the book cover gold backing set the picture off fantastic and I’m sure Alice will love her sign, thank you for showing us
This video is so tremendously helpful for me, I have a collection of temporary tattoos I've saved from various events and such over the years. They're a really unique souvenir when they have custom ones done for an event and they're small. I will use this technique to turn a lot of my stash into little resin magnets and pins so I can enjoy them permanently!
To fix the issue of the tattoos with writing being backwards, just do it in reverse order. Pour the background first, put the tattoos on that, then pour the clear over the top.

@abraKvavra thank you for that, I’d had forgotten about that. Awesome 😎

The return of the "decals on the fridge" of the 1960s ! I live it. Thank you very much.

Wow! Great idea! And I love you left in forgetting to take off the plastic! I’ve done that sooo many times with my kids! 😆
The tattoos look great… except for the ones with words..l they are in mirror image… but the pictures or the avatars are phenomenal l.. and I love love love that tiger for the notebook!!! Beautiful!!!!!
They turned out great! I haven't tried tattoos but I have made tiny earrings using nail transfers which work exactly the same.
I've been using the tattoos for a long time now. They are a game changer for sure
Alice will love her room sign! Pure Perfection 🥰

Use a paintbrush to wet the tattoo, it helps flatten the tattoo, then use a very soft dry brush to smooth the tattoo after taking the back off. 👍
Wowzers!!!! Steve, you genius you!!!! What I really like about the tattoos is they have no background, as opposed to many stickers with white backgrounds!!!!
I love the 3d effect with the Hulk coaster!!! So cool!!
OH MY GOSH!!! That book cover is exceptional. I am going to do that for my Grand daughters they both are writers in the making.

These Came Out Really Great 👍 However I Am Curious If You Did A Layer Let It Cured Then Add The Transfer And Then A Final Coat Of Resin Even Different Colors And Layers That Would Be Fun!!!!

GORGEOUS! Can't wait to try!
Those really turned out great! I love the tiger. Very pretty! It's really cool that you can put the tattoo on the mold and it will come off onto the resin. It kind of gives it a 3D effect. I might have to try that some time.
Thank you, Dr. Mc.
