RTD Goes Full 'Destroy the Past, Kill It' on 60 Years of Doctor Who & Fandom

  • Your man Salty looks at multiple articles and sources to put together the coded message in showrunner RUSSELL T DAVIES published statements on the DOCTOR WHO CHRISTMAS SPECIAL 'The Church on Ruby Road'. This includes his declaration that THE EPISODE is a RESET OF DOCTOR WHO and that the Ncuti Gatwa era is SEASON ONE... from all indications DISCARDING THE PREVIOUS 60 YEARS of what had been a very loyal, established, worldwide fandom of a beloved science-fiction franchise.
But the ONE THING HE KEPT appears to be THE FOUND CHILD NARRATIVE of the Doctor's origin- the much hated and canon-breaking Jodie Whittaker / Chris Chibnall episode THE TIMELESS CHILD.
We also look at how the episode will prominently FEATURE REPRESENTATION, particular of LGBTQ+ themes directed in RTD own words 'at the children'.

That is what I am doing. I ignored Whitaker. Completely. If not for the BBC she would not be getting any work at all, she was that bad. I am just glad I binned my license back in 2013 and I am not paying towards this drek. I will never watch live TV again and certainly not the BBC. In the past ten years I have not missed it at all. All this has even managed to put me off the 2005 return of the show. I am just sticking to the classic era from now on, even though I have seen them a million times they are far more entertaining and better to watch than anything in the last few years...

What's crazy about this is Dr Who was tanking badly with Whittaker - they knew they needed to start afresh, to reboot it.
So instead of going back to what worked, or identifying what was causing it to fail and remove it.....they took the very thing that was killing it, dialled it up to 11, retconned all the stuff that worked and rebooted it a new with that!
It's like trying to stop the titanic sinking by putting another, bigger, hole in it.

Jodie Whitaker was very poorly cast, written and presented. Faye Marsay would have been a more imaginative casting choice and a decently drama literate team brought in. Her era was flat noise. I have a friend who has a vision defect in that he has no or very little depth perception. He sees three-dimensions as if they are two-dimensional theatre flats. He's had this all his life and has learnt over the half-century to cope. This is the way that I see Jodie Whitaker's era. Flat, noisy and devoid of any depth of character.

He doesn't realise that this crap does more harm than good to acceptance of minorities. Gay rights only really gained momentum when people saw that the majority of gay people are just ordinary people leading ordinary lives. When Ireland voted in gay marriage laws a reporter was interviewing people in the street about it and one old man said he'd voted 'yes' because "Why shouldn't the gays have the right to be as miserable as the rest of us?"
Equality is bringing everyone up to the same level. Not elevating minorities above that level.

There never would have been a comedy Tom era if Mary Whitehouse had not got involved. She was a miserable old battle axe on a religion ego trip. And was a self appointed champion of moaning to the BBC about anything she did not like or agree with that she thought was naughty, sexy or violent or morally incorrect etc. She moaned at the BBC about the Troughton story Tomb of the Cybermen! It was too violent for kids! She pitched three fits about the early Tom Baker era and went bonkers to the BBC with a letter writing campaign after Genesis of the Daleks went out. She kept this up year after year and it culminated during the Deadly Assassin story when Tom Baker as the Doctor was having to fight Goth in the Matrix. The BBC caved in to her in the end, and made the show tone down the scares and atmosphere and brought in K9 for the younger kids as Star Wars had just happened and they wanted to surf the robot craze of the late 70s. Tom did well with the silly stuff and played it up no end, but it was not the same. I never forgave that old witch Whitehouse for being such a pain and killjoy. I was actually glad when she passed away. If she was around now with the show as it is and LGBT stuff she would have three heart attacks! The irony....

I grew up in the 70s/80s where the agreement was tht people were born the way they were, that it was inherent to who they were as individuals. but it was about looking at each person individually, and their sexuality NOT DEFINING who or what they were... rather their skills, talents, personality and accomplishments as individuals. If you were a dickhead, you were a dickhead, regardless of sexual orientation. And you were called out on it.
Now... sexuality has been made into THE IDENTITY. Not each person being the sum of their intelligence, deeds, decisions and how they treat others. And regardless of how much of a dickhead someone with that IDENTITY acts, you're (insert Woke label) -ist if you call it out.

Simply because the lead actor was so good, so worth watching and sold it completely. From the early years when it was spooky and creepy with Holmes and Hinchcliffe to the lighter later years when K9 was around, it was always a blast to watch because of Tom Baker. Since then the only actors in the show to come close to that were Tennant and Smith. For various reasons. They captured it, the quirky, the eccentric, the burden he carried and could do the lighter stuff well especially Smith. I have no interest in anything else going forward as it looks and sounds so dire.

Yes. I much prefer the original classic series now. I was too young for Pertwee so I have enjoyed his run later in life. I like how it changes from a very Quatermass style in season one, to evolve into its eco message and social commentary period later, before he gets to go back into space in the Tardis, before finally leaving earth behind for good with Tom Baker. As I started with Baker I just sort of accepted that it was mostly set on alien planets rather than earth. One thing that annoyed me no end with the 2005 version is it constantly going back to a housing estate in London, and constant current Earth companions. All of time and space to explore etc and different people from time periods. I loved the Leela era as she was so wild and different and the Doctor was trying to teach her, and how she reacted to things outside her knowledge was so much fun to watch. The classic era still rules and its still the best version of the show. Its also going to be the only version that keeps its fans the way things are going....

I am also digging back to Hartnell and am about to start the original Daleks story, supposedly restored, but it still looks grainy and dark and i need of a clean up to me....oh well its better than anything else on Tv tonight...Merry Christmas to you....

Yes but you are right. I am an older fan, been there since the start of Tom Baker. I tuned out in the Capaldi era as I could see where it was going. I had a tiny flicker of hope when RTD and Tennant were announced as returning. Then I saw the Star Beast. I expected it to still be Woke but nothing as bad as this was, to insult the Doctor, the men and the long term fans and most of the audience on the 60th was beyond stupid. It was even worse than anything in the Whitaker era and that was bad enough.
I gave up at again and did not watch any more of the specials as they were anything but. Here in England most people cant grasp or believe what on earth they are doing to the show! And they are using race as shield to protect it from any critics. And homophobia. And the thing is , with Gatwa having seen his interviews it was also clear to me that there is nothing to him personality wise other than the fact he is black and gay. As that is all he has gone on about, the same way Whitaker did about being the first female Doctor. Its so predictable and so terribly bad. Until your video I had no idea they had a 5 year deal on the Disney money etc. That is going to be the only thing keeping the show on air by that point. As the BBC wanted to raise the license fee by a large amount and the government would not let them. Its still going up a lot but it could have been worse. So now the BBC is cutting shows and budgets and dropping long term series. They will do anything to protect the fee, other than make some things people actually want to watch.
So no matter how bad it gets, and it will as there is barely 2% of people in the UK that are part of the LGBT crowd the show will still be going out, even if its getting below a million viewers by that point. I just wonder how far it will fall, and how many people will be brought under the spell of its woke indoctrination.....

I also have a few theories as to why this ramped up (something to do with a big event in 2016 possibly?). It's saldy not just entertainment that's been infested, it seems to be Education and, to some extent some financial institutions over here in the UK now to which there is a very strong correlation between people suddenly having their accounts shut down for no apparent reason and those people having opinions they don't like. Interesting that, in order to assess whether indoctrination is taking place, one has to assume a similarly indoctrinated counter-stance which is - as Hitchins would call it - taking comfort in the security of consensus. The problem with consensus is that, without further investigation, it becomes easier to dismiss holistic co-evolving solutions. Counter-noise breeds counter-noise, sometimes equal and opposite and at other times, when one side is stressed upon too much, the noise ramps up to another level. What you are seeing is ramped up noise and caused by whom? One side of an argument didn't quieten down to acceptance of the other's diversity but kept on - and is keeping on - in the dogmatic persistence that one side is "wrong", not merely diverse. For instance, let's quote from a Cyberman story
      CYBERLEADER: I ordered surrender.
      DOCTOR: They're not taking instructions.
Don't you understand? You're on every street,
you're in their homes, you've got their children!
Of course they're going to fight.
The Cybermen wouldn't leave well alone. They want everyone to be their own normative, their 'decent' and 'proper'. The human race is now in their face. They are diverse and the Cybermen don't like it!

Don't get angry, just send a message by sticking to your favourite. If this is Series one, then I guess everything prior to all of this is an inviolable canon.

I hate what Doctor Who has become so I'm not watching it. I've stopped as of Jodie and I was actually rooting for a female doctor cause there was so much potential there but they ruined it so horribly by using the show as a vehicle to push "The Message" down everyone's throat. It was RTD who brought sexualisation into Dr Who. Before him the only times we saw anything even remotely sexual was the First Doctor accidentally getting engaged, Captain Yates flirting with Jo Grant (which was dropped very quickly) and the Queen of Atlantis going gaga over The Master.
After the reboot, we got unwanted love stories between the Doctor and his companions, Captain Jack If-it-moves-shag-it, paving slab girl and her "love life", elderly lesbians in a traffic jam, a widowed lesbian taken over by a demonic alien force, Alonzo the gay steward, Cassandra's mind in the Doctor's body getting used to having dangly bits and, among many other such things "She ain't a virgin queen no more, phwooooarrr, get what I'm saying?"
RTD sexualised a series that had been free of any such content, and now claims that it wasn't welcoming to LGBTQWTF people. You may as well say McDonalds isn't welcoming to them either because it doesn't use rainbow coloured buns.

No young person is going to go back all the way to 2005's "Rose" or 1963's "An Unearthly Child" when they're just browsing on Disney+.
Starting afresh, from a new Season 1, makes perfect sense to me. Any newcomers who care about the wider lore can do their own research and dig out the earlier seasons.

I remember being upset that Superman had dark hair whereas I was blonde, but I was 5 and quickly learned that it really didn't matter. It's the same for the Doctor, I like the way he travels time and space helping people, not that he's a straight white man, or that he has a blue box, and my car is also blue, so it's basically a Tardis.
I've heard that at least one of the people I work with is gay, but I don't know which. And until it comes up in conversation naturally, I don't care, because it doesn't matter. The increase in kids confused about their gender is absolutely heartbreaking. And it’s filth like this that plants the ideology into their heads. That is my main issue. The secondary issue is that a beloved show of 50 years has been rewritten. Although for me while I acknowledge Capaldi. His storylines at times particularly S10 were awful. It’s easier for me to finish with The Day of The Doctor. Left questioning and wondering… in my own head the time lords give the Doctor more regenerations to be able to enjoy a sort of retirement on earth and the newly saved Galifrey. Having the odd adventure once in a blue moon. That’s why we see Capaldi’s doctor briefly and also Tom Baker who I see as the Doctor’s very final regeneration which he chooses to spend on earth! That’s how doctor who ends for me! And how that episode leaves it for the viewer as it were to fill in the blanks and mystery. There is now the license To go full on stereotype and self parody as Russell adopts a pink or rainbow Chairman Mao tunic and throws a fit smashing up the BBC archives and burning physical existing copies of DW episodes on a massive bonfire; maybe that was his plan all along and putting the episodes on iPlayer was a cover story and a chance for viewers to say goodbye to authentic Doctor Who once and for all (it would allow the BBC to finish the cultural vandalism it first initiated when it started chucking out all the film cans of episodes after previously wiping the magnetic vt for episodes The B&W Minstrel Show And That's Life...) and

I don't see a problem with it being series 1, I don't like it and/or see the point for it but I didn't see why it was series 1 in 2005 either and coped with that so that isn't an issue really. The Doctor being gay isn't necessarily an issue either as long as it isn't made a big thing of, it's his sexuality that's fine...like Jodie's Doctor almost had a lesbian relationship that is fine. My problem with the so called specials was that they weren't great, the run time is so short for a good story that if it gets bogged down by anything else it is lost and ends up rushed and feeling a bit crap. All three had extremely convenient endings that did not feel earned. If the quality of writing is this level then I can see the show becoming so mediocre that I will stop watching

Don't worry- they'll make sure the new 'Doctor' gets to be called names and made a victim in season one. Regardless of being an alien from Gallifrey and essentially quasi-immortal with vast experince on a galactic scale and the whole universe out there... no, RTD wants to go to the slave markets of the Caribbean in the 1700s, but would never go to Africa to show the African tribes raiding, trapping and selling fellow Africans for slaves because of the difference in tribes (ethnicity)

Very lame. You spent this whole video complaining about characters because they aren't white or straight, and that RTD is resetting the show back to Series 1 ( like he did before in 2005, following a very unpopular era, as an attempt to refresh the show which was very successful before). Didn't exactly discuss the plot, or performances at all. I can see it now, 2024 will be a bunch of nerds pointing out every character who isn't white/straight and complaining about them every episode rather than discussing plots/themes, on a weekly basis. You won't even watch the episodes yourselves, so you feel like you're not contributing to the viewership, but will instead hear about it from the same UA-cam channels echochambers where you will get routinely outraged every week rather than forming any opinions of your own. Very on brand for sci-fi fans.

So many of these awful videos are springing up with man-babies like the presenter in this one winging about how the show has changed and they can't cope with it. My advice to all those here moaning about inclusion, LGBTQ+, is go and find another show to watch and don't bother coming back, because Doctor Who doesn't need fans like you. In fact, it never did. I'm ashamed to think that there are fans of Doctor Who that are so utterly hideous and full of prejudice and who clearly never took enough notice of what they were watching in the classic series, because if they had, they wouldn't have enjoyed that either. I have noticed its mostly fans in the USA that are upset with RTD; but then, considering what a toxic place its been since Trumper wobbled over the horizon, it comes as little surprise.
