Master of Puppets is like part Castlevania, part Doom. Awesome. Intro to Sanitarium is killer & Orion is perfect for Genesis. Just cool. Thanks for doing this
Back in the day me and my buddy played many many hours of Castlevania IV on SNES and would always play the MoP cd to it. That was our soundtrack to the game.
like the bass on several Sonic tracks as well are surprisingly well thought out. (Listen to the Sonic 2 and 3 OSTs......even Spinball and 3D Blast had killer OSTs)
I see Cliff perched in the heavens above, smiling ear to ear, listening to his masterpiece. Thank you, Sega Music Emulator (if it even exists). I was won over by the Battery intro and found myself air drumming the whole damn song.
The only thing keeping this from being pure perfection is the absence of "Se-gaaaaa" at the beginning. Otherwise, the amount of effort and love for these songs really shows.
When I was a kid, I had to drive the the nearest city Chicago to visit a guitar center, very large store... I started playing one part of Battery.... And from across the store, another dude joined in and we jammed across the store. Very cool.
The intro to Sanitarium is genuinely beautiful. This whole project is amazing. Master is my favorite album of all time I consider it one of very few "perfect" albums. Hearing it translated to another favorite medium of my teenage years (video games! YAY! lol) makes me appreciate Metallicas songwriting even more.

The solo in MoP sounds so good. This gave me huge nostalgia, great memories of hanging at my neighbors house playing on his genesis as a kid. Keep it up
While this is a fun experiment, I also feel like this is what a first or second year Genesis game's music sounded like. Later games were able to take better advantage of the YM2612. It would be interesting to hear what a "late gen" version of MOP would sound like that took full advantage of the YM2612. Recent Genesis games like Xeno Crisis were able to make some pretty convincing heavy metal guitar tones. Whereas the mix in this video sounds a bit hallow and anemic.
This is amazing. The Sega Genesis sound was my favorite from the great "Genesis vs SNES" days. Although both systems had fantastic music. Mega Man X is one of my favorite soundtracks of all time. It sounds even better on the Sega sound chip lol.
