Wow, I just realized... out of the big 4 , Anthrax is the only one I still buy new releases from.
"An oddly dark and fabulous time." - being a metalhead early 90s.
Disagree. The music i loved disappeared and was replaced with a bunch of dumbed down depressing crap, until Killswitch came along.
80's thrash... where it's at bro
Can you say Puddle of Mudd? How 'bout Creed? Those were the days right?
@@tragicallymalicious1 this new wave of America metal went hard!
@@tragicallymalicious1 Great point, even though I as an early 80s metal head kid still could appreciate what the Seattle bands were doing (I was always afraid that guitar dominated music would totally vanished when all the midi/drum machines stuff came out in late 80s). Also, you say Killswitch - I'd say their mentors Meshuggah (who was around locally here in mid/late 80s).
I love watching these. takes me back to a time when the biggest problems seemed to be having enough cash for beer and concerts
Amen!
I was taking bass lessons from a really great jazz bassist. He made a comment about how crappy he thought the 'Got the Time' cover was. That was my last lesson from him
Lol he sounds mad that a metal band sounds that good!
I played this cassette so much it demagnetized.
Moral of the story: DON'T GO ON AFTER SLAYER
Hahahahahahahahaha.
Exactly! And yeah, I was one of those Slayer fans chanting "Slayer, Slayer!", As well as heckling and flipping off Layne, from Alice in Chains (Weedsport Speedway in Central New York State. Someone has the Alice in Chains footage here on UA-cam, maybe Oswego, NY?).
None of us got into that album. "Man in The Box" was okay, but we'd seen Soundgarden, Pearl Jam in clubs, thought they were just copying the vibe. Until the great "Dirt" album. Now they had really come into their own. And they sure Owned it! An incredible, timeless, Masterpiece!
If you happen to come upon the Alice in Chains gig from the "Clash of The Titans" tour, you'll see and hear what Scott's talking about. Layne left the stage yelling "Meet me on the side of the stage. I'll kick your ass!", To the many who heckled him. It sure did take some serious Balls to come out to the front of the stage, curved, black sunglasses he always wore, confident, with his foot on his PA Monitor like he was a King. Slayer fans reacted to this "confidence" like he was against them. The sooner they were off the stage, the sooner Slayer would be on stage. They actually gained much respect from that tour!
*
*...More?
WORST BAND THAT DAY WAS "THE VINCE NEIL BAND". IDK WHY THEY WERE ON THAT TOUR, BUT I DON'T THINK THEY WERE ON THE FULL TOUR?
NO WHERE NEAR AS HECKLED, BUT WE EXPECTED VERY LITTLE ANYWAYS. LOT'S OF LAUGHTER, AND ACTUALL PROOF VINCE AND MOTLEY CRUE ONLY WORK WELL TOGETHER.
It almost seems as if the Motley Crue singer, with black hair, who preformed on more than one album(?), And took over when Vince was fired, was just a Myth?
Interesting, Vinces band of super players, but lacking what made/makes a real band. Not the first one of these groups, by far, but "most" aren't accepted like "a band from the ground up".
Much respect to "Alice in Chains" on this tour! One helluva step in the right direction! We'd never forget them!
A Big F- to "The Vince Neil Band"! But we expected something like that. They definitely weren't an official part of the Tour, but did play many gigs, I believe..?
Anthrax were great, as well as Slayer, of course. I don't remember much of The "Megadeth" set?
Incredible how Scott remembers AIC, and all they had to go through on that tour.
I didn't know if they were being ridiculed almost everywhere. It seemed to bring the best out of them though. And we were blessed with the Incredible "Dirt" album! Layne will always "live on" in the Incredible music he made.
Forgive my Rambling if you made it this far!🤘🤘💜🙏
White Noise was my first album for the band and loved it, but when I heard Persistence, it easily became my favorite.
White noise is the perfect metal album. Such a great album.
you got corey taylor and gene simmons behind you, hell not to mention henry black flag rollins you are doing somthing right. got the time one of my favorites
To be honest, Corey Taylor has never met a camera and a chance to talk he didn't like.
I'm Startn' Up a Posse because I'm tired of waiting for the Attack of the Killer B's!
I hope they talk a bit about that album
@@linusfotograf hopefully next video
This was my initiation album, I was in about grade 8...the humour made me love them right from the start!
If you went to the 25th anniversary of Rust in Peace / Seasons in the Abyss tour you got to see Meggadeth follow Slayer.
Can't wait for the John years. I hope they don't disrespect him and give enough time.
4 albums deserves the same amount of time.
They wanted nothing to do with Joey and loved John for over 15 years...
I hope they don't try to change narrative
Sound of white noise was a big shot in the arm for me. I thought they sounded way heavier with Bush, and the riffs on that album are killer!
@@randywebb7103 agreed. Grew up with Joey and loved them, but there is no comparison. Johns albums are monumental.
Glad they reunited, they need to do another album with Bush
I can't fuckin stop watching this series. One more, one more, one more. Will keep watching for ever.
4 dislikes from people who couldn't get tickets to the Clash of the Titans tour.
I had tickets to see it in Hershey, PA. The show got cancelled. It was Guns N' Roses (and Skid Row) fault.
Columbus June 91 🤘🤘
I was there. Portland Maine
Why is Malcolm covered up on Scott's arm?
Got the time, best bass solo on Anthrax
it is insane
actually most of anthrax album had great bass.
It's also the only bass solo Anthrax did xD
'Got the time' was the first Anthrax track I ever heard. Frank's bass is just so strong. I've been a fan ever since :)
Can't wait for the Sound Of White Noise episode - that's Anthrax's best album.
My too although to be fair there isn’t a bad album
Really? And how so?
Caught that tour with White Zombie opening for them!
@@ALTDOK667 i am asking why do you think that because i want to understand where you are coming from on it?
With John Bush 🤘
Cover or not, Anthrax made it their own. Really stood out for me & my kids....so cool seeing the head bangers clip!! Fantastic tour!!! 👺💯🤘🍻💋
P.O.T is my absolute favorite anthrax album. Every song hits so hard and so close to home. In My World is such a personal song that i love so much cause the lyrics are so real and relatable.
If Anthrax released all of these on one DVD, I’d buy it . I know I’m dating myself with a DVD reference , but still I’d love to own all of these somehow
You'd prefer VHS? :)
@@malkomalkavian hell yeah
Beta!
I've been loving this series! I'm a UA-cam skipper, and I haven't skipped a second yet!
I crashed my car while listening to Got The Time. I remember it came on a indie rock station out of nowhere and I was pumped. Not long after the bass intro I was upside down after some chick ran a red light and t-boned me.
It's nice to see anthrax explain the years of their career
Chicken in my head!!!!!!!!!! _\m/ It was so hard to cover your cover ...not the riff that bass solo! One of my favorite bassists!
spitz got the time tick, tick, ticking in his hands
Clever.. Very Clever..
I see what you did there... 🤣🤘🤘
Hey! You better watch it!
Anthrax and Iron Maiden in 91 at Compton Terrace in Phoenix Az. I was a sophomore in high school. Me and my buddy skipped school to make the trip down on a Greyhound bus the Friday before the show. Compton Terrace was right next to Firebird Raceway and you guys drowned out the nitro funny cars you were so loud! It was such a memorable trip. It was fucking epic!
Scott wow. He's the memory man for sure.
This is the best thing since Seka made videos. Fact.
Thank you guys for these amazing clips. The best show i ever went to was Metallica and Anthrax in Cardiff Wales in 1986.What a great gig that was.I will never forget that buzz!
Every configuration of the band was great but right now I think it's the best...Keep it up guys
HAY! I was at "that Clash of the Titans thing"!
Since Wednesdays preview of this episode I have been playing Got the Time on loop, it's fucking awesome, up there with my favourite covers, Anti-social being another and Breadfan, the Budgie classic covered by Metallica. I am reliving my youth through these videos!
P.O.T. & S.O.W.N. - what an amazing one - two punch 🤘🤘
Seen this tour supporting Maiden in Edinburgh (ingliston exhibition centre) Anthrax were great, darker and heavier than the previous tour and still tight as fuck. I seem to remember them playing a bit of "baba o'riley" in the middle of one of their tunes. Great night.
This bass sound is amazing
Was my anthem for the 90s
First time I heard Joe Jackson's got the time was playing over the radio in a convenient store and I was like wtf!!! Anthrax covered this?!? I was blown away
L❤️ve these Docs!🙏👍🤘🤘
The best metal album of all time lyrically speaking! (my personal favorite)
My favorite Anthrax moment was seeing them on this tour with the giant clock and the the skeleton hand ticking faster and faster then the band hits the stage. Love this album. This documentary is up there with Iron Maiden The Early Years, watchable again and again. Gonna get a ticket for the livestream in appreciation of having this free doc to enjoy for weeks.
Saw Anthrax open for Maiden at the Meadowlands in ‘91 and they blew them away!
Saw Anthrax, Public Enemy and Primus in Seattle on that tour. One of the best shows I've ever been to!
Thought it was weird that Joe Jackson also had a song/album called "I'm the Man" [1979]. Coincidence ???
I went to the Clash of the Titans show in Indiana and one of the Primus/Public Enemy shows in Champaign, IL. Both awesome !
Champaign show attendees represent!
Public Enemy Primus & Young Black Teenagers - I had already seen Anthrax 3X - w/ Sabbath (Armed), at Paradise Boston (Among) & 2nd Leg of Among in Boston Orpheum, Grateful Dead was in town for 6 shows I saw 5 Dead & the PE/Anthrax/Primus/Young Black Teenagers was my 4th & Final Time seeing Anthrax THANK YOU for INTRO'ing PRIMUS to me!!!
I bought 'Persistence Of Time' guitar tablature book a few weeks ago. Slowly getting to grips with 'Intro To Reality'. Incredible when you think that Charlie writes the majority of the music. He is such a talented musician.
My top 3 off 'Persistence' are:-
1- Time
2 - One Man Stands
3 - Intro To Reality
I can't even pick a top 3 off of P.O.T. Every song on it is my favorite.... Why doesn't anyone ever mention "Gridlock" though?
@@impendingdoom385 It is a great tune, it's probably my 5th favourite on there after 'Belly Of The Beast'. A lot of my favourites on each of their albums are non singles. James Hetfield described 'Only' as the perfect song but to me it's one of the weaker ones on 'Sound Of White Noise'. Just proves the strength of them as great songwriters.
Loving this series, it's been so interesting. One of the best live bands ever. If you haven't seen anthrax live,do yourself a favour, go see them.
Chicken in my head!
i was 17 when they were new.... fave band at that timeframe!!!! i hand the little rubber hand puppet not man hanging from the diagonal zipper on my leather.
Got The Time, Antisocial, Sects, all you're covers rocks ! You're not only good to original songs, you rock also on covers, you are able to put your personal touch to all the songs you're playing
Got the time is my favorite song on this album
State of Euphoria was my first taste of Anthrax growing up as a kid and I loved it. That made me want the next album and I liked it so much that I
had to buy it 3 times because I ended up losng my tape. Great album!!
I saw them on this tour with Iron Maiden at Wembley Arena.
Allegedly they played football with Iron Maiden on our school field but it could have been the roadies.
Keep em coming I am loving this series!!!
С Днём Рождения,Чарли!60!!!🤘
Amazing series! First heard them on Spreading the Disease. I've been a fan since. Keep up the great work! Have seen Anthrax live with 3 different singers.
Man, does no one remember anything about the Exodus/Anthrax/Helloween tour? I want to hear that story.
If Clash of the Titans was Anthrax, Helloween, and Megadeth it would be perfect.
@metalpersonj ....I thought it funny that they said "....first ever Headbangers ball tour" and not mean the A/E/H tour that played the Felt Forum in NYC. It was the previous album but still....IT was the first one...lol.
Yeah, I was waiting for some '89 HBB Tour stories in the Euphoria videos. Nada.
I saw that tour in tampa at the sun dome. When Exodus played Toxic Waltz we all started throwing the folding chairs on the floor all over the place and the cops stopped the show and made everybody pass them to the back so the sun dome staff could put them away before they let them continue. Great times
I saw the HBB tour in New Orleans in April 1989. I'm.surprised they really swept right past it. It was a great show. Helloween was good. Exodus were the most energetic that night. They were flying all over the stage. Anthrax had the Blues Brothers intro blarrimg when the lights went out and then they kicked into be all end all. I do remember Joey coming out with an Indian headdress during Indians and then at the end of them swinging on these huge ropes that hanging from the rafters / light rigs while they did I'm The Man. It was cool to see those bands in an arena back then.
I was at Clash of the Titans in Baltimore. Awesome show. From where we were, we could see the guy turning the crank on the giant skeleton clock, haha.
Really looking forward for each episode after every hard day at work 🤘
Saw them on this tour in Melbourne,Australia..Awesome show.
Love these videos, Anthrax! Keep 'em coming!
"Chicken on my head".
It was, it is, and always will be.
I attended the Clash of the Titans show in San Antonio, and Anthrax stole the show! All 4 bands were great, but Anthrax had the most energy and gave the crowd one hell of an adrenaline shot!
Dude ! you are right . i am more of a Slayer or even early cliff era metallica But every time i've seen Anthrax live they were so much more fun/powerful and lively than Slayer (last time was opening for Slayer on their 2015 tour). Anthrax are a LIVE band !!
Fun is a powerful argument :)
my favorite anthrax album
I really hope you guys release all of these together on blu ray or at least dvd. That would be a cool idea. Include bonus stuff like the Married With Children episode and that Anthrax Behind The Music from VH1 back in the days. I think it was like 2004-05?? I have it on video but no longer have a VCR LOL
Im loving this videos. In my oppinion in this part of the story was ending the golden years of the band.
I think in general the 90's were very bad for the main metal bands, and Anthrax were no exception.
Cheers from Portugal 🍺🤘🇵🇹
its time
Got the Time was one of the very very very first Anthrax's songs I've heard . Nowadays I consider it a little dull , but the Video Clip is amazing .
These have been so well done that at the end of each episode I’m kinda annoyed they’re so short!
this is still my favest A song....got the time!
Just finding out Time was a cover 😂
Got the Time was a cover. Time was the opening track that they wrote.
I always thought Joe Jackson was Michael's dad until the internet came out
I didn't realize Got the Time was a cover either. And I also thought Joe Jackson was the Jackson 5's Dad. This video series is So Educational!
Joe Jackson was originally very local to me. Like, 5 miles. I can’t remember the name of the album that made him, but he’d sold everything he owned to fund it. His belief in himself was incredible. He asked a guy that I used to work with to play guitar on it, explaining that he’d sold everything to fund it,and that he couldn’t possibly pay my friend to play on it, so he would get a cut of the sales. My friend says “ But Joe...... you can’t sing!” Fast forward a couple of decades, and my friend dies a poor middle aged man with a factory job whilst Joe is living in the Hollywood hills boning models.....😂
imagine everyone knowing GENESIS in the 1980s....AND Peter Gabriel in the 1980s....and THEN finding out PG used to be their frontman!!
Hi Scott...nice to hear the next Anthrax record will be very fast (and heavy)...that's Anthrax. Just a humble fan suggestion ...i mean I heard the old demos leaked on UA-cam...Neil Turbin/Greg D'Angelo era demos. Would you consider re-recording these old songs which have never featured on any of your records...songs like Pestillence, Hellfire, Satan's wheels among others....well i think it would be great to revisit these old songs with the current band and the current Anthrax sound.....Cheers Scott !!!
D.D. Verni !!!
That's the guy who should talk more about Anthrax, because he knew them from the 80s. Corey Taylor should stick to his Duran Duran covers.
Especially when Dan Spits being an eary member of Overkill.
@@ryansoltess6006 He was? I didn't know that.
My cat is influenced by Anthrax and SOD so she started a band.
I saw that Clash of the Titans tour!! Great show!!
c u guys in aug @ the buffalo chip!
🤘😎🤘
My first concert Treviso italy persistence tour with Iron maiden
Anybody that saw Clash of the Titans I think would agree with Scott, when I saw them at an amphitheater in Clarkston, MI Alice in Chains opened obviously and it was MAYBE 1/4 full. I'm not a big grudge fan but always liked Alice in Chains.
Henry Rollins and Corey Taylor should be paying me
FRANK IS A FUCKING BEAST!!!
Ah...to go back to 1989-1990 again...
Yeah, I saw clash of the titans in Phoenix. Barely knew who AIC was.
clash of the titans... i went to Birmingham NEC in england to watch this gig. but it was slayer megadeth testament suicidal tendencies
No Big 4 bassist punches harder in the mix than Frankie’s.
We didnt get a full show down here in New Zealand because some dickhead spat at Joey, then Charlie jumped down to the front of the stage and tried to smash the guy. Years later i heard a bunch of peopld caught up to the spitter outside Ha ah! Was a very sad day for all us skaters that had waited so long to see our band Anthrax.. :)
Well I’ll be go to hell. Never knew it was a joe Jackson song. Learn something new everyday. Lol
Next week is all about Married With Children? I have to wait 2 weeks for Sound Of White Noise?! Oh well.
Per usual, Click video link, Click Like, then Watch, and love! Thanks for this series you all!
No Bobby Gustafson = No Overkill
Clash of the Titans was great last show Slayer came out in cardboard boxes for Man in the Box cracking Layne up but it did seem a little difficult 4 Anthrax following Slayer
What do you mean by "Slayer came out in cardboard boxes"? Dressed up in cardboard or actually sitting in the boxes and then when the gig started jumping out like a jack in the box?
was that "queen of the rodeo" AIC?
my take away was... weird. great drummer.
saw em open for extreme in Boston at the Orpheum. 1991 I think. they looked like a hair glam band.
I saw that your in Milwaukee. Man in the box just started getting traction Alice opened with We die Young. Talk about mule kickin the door in!
Cantrell looked like Cousin It from Addams family
Henry Rollins will pretend to love Cindy Lauper in docu’s nowadays if you throw him a few dollars
Clash of the titans tour in Europe consisted of Slayer, Megadeth, Testament and Suicidal Tendencies. I was gutted Anthrax didn't do the Europe tour but suicidal were my favourite band, Anthrax instead of testament would have been the dream tour, I still remember how upset I felt to this day that I didn't get Anthrax and Suicidal on the same show lol
Anthrax and Suicidal played an European tour together about 2 or 3 years before "Clash...". Guess you missed that one.
@@herbertwest9626 you're right I missed that one! Saw them on the euphoria tour and they had Kings x with them I think?
@@paulrooney7162 I don't know about King X, but I remember seeing them with Suicidal Tendencies as support in 88 or 89. And both bands were great.
Good to hear Joey mention Kansas at the start. Steve Walsh had one of the greatest voices ever back in the day. Interesting to hear Scott's take on going on after Slayer on the Clash Of The Titans tour. They were great back in the day but why do Anthrax always seem to be supporting Slayer these days. Seen them twice together in the last 6 years and Anthrax have blown them offstage on both occasions.
I saw Anthrax open for Motorhead right before Lemmy died and Thrax blew em off the stage.
@@jimthar17 Funnily enough I seen them supporting Motorhead years earlier just before they released 'We've Come For You All'. I stayed in the bar for Motorhead, where bizarrely I met Rob Caggiano.
@@davidthomas7495 You talk about show in Brixton?I remeber i see Rob at bar with fine blond girl. Not sure if it was at Motorhead/Anthrax show or any other Anthrax show:)
@@deathstars1975 No it was at Newport Centre back in 2002. I met him again the following year when they played a gig in Cardiff but this time he was wandering around in the crowd before they played.

The amount of TIME in this video will not PERSIST long enough!
*_What's up with Scotts left arm?_*
But what does Corey Taylor think about this?
I always skip that part. I am not anti Slipknot, but that guy in private is just annoying.
