Use mine as a secondary cutting tool mainly used for feathers and small carving tasks ,also a bit of food prep .Great review. Great prices. I am going to get a second one for my son .God bless you and your family, and happy camping
Thank you Lee, they really are very nice expecially for the price. The steel is also fine for most normal use. When I take something into work it tends to get abused. Particularly bad for the knife when it starts to get cold, everything gets more brittle. God bless you and yours too mate, I hope you are having a great weekend and that your lad enjoys using his finnlite.
Thank you, glad you are enjoying the channel. I really like this little knife, the edge didn't hold up very well at work. But what I put my knives through at work is a bit overly rough. I think the steel could be better, but other than that it is a joy to use. Also for the price, well at that price it is absolutely fantastic. Thanks for watching mate.
I think it's fantastic for the price. Awesome little carver. The sheath isn't the best but it does it's job. Glad to hear that you have someone to make something better. Thanks for watching mate.
@KuukkeliBushcraft I think the sheath is pretty dangerous to be honest it could easily penetrate through the leather, or certainly that's the impression I got. I still think for the price you can't go wrong with a good old fashioned Mora. That being said I do really like this knife and it's definitely a good bargain. I'm going to pull the plug on getting a m95 ranger puukko I've had my eye on one for a while.
I hot beeswax the sheath. A couple of coats and it sets hard. Stops the blade going through and also waterproofs the leather, I do this with some higher carbon steels, also helps prevent rust.
The Finn lite a great size for so many tasks and extremely comfortable to use. For the price it is really fantastic. I don't own any Boker knives. Maybe I should. Thanks for watching mate.
Ha ha ! ..I would hold the sponsorship.. and just become an official taste tester with overtime !! lol The knife looks wonderful !! ..portable little fella too !! Shame about the edge retention.. but perhaps the easy sharpening makes up for that !! I've got hands like 5hit shovels.. so I would probably lose a finger !! lol Ha ha ! ..Unni's close up ! lol ..talk about 'looking up an old friend' 😂😁🐾 Great review Tim bro.. and as always very best wishes to you and the famous beastie 🐾
Cheers Andy, great to hear from you. Struggling to keep up with the comments at the moment. Santa bringing us lots of tourists. All he ever brings me 🤣. Give Jimmy a hug from me and the beast.
Lapland red havent tried that before. Should test it. Looks nice one that little knife. BPS knives have avoided me. That should change😃 Thx for the review Tim, have a great day!
Cheers Ilari,we can have a few Lapland reds when you come north 😁🍺🍻. As for BPS they are very cheap and you do see it in the quality to a certain extent. But still great value for money. They do also have some higher end knives too. I think I showed the Aura in this video.
Going to be doing a lot of simple reviews for the next couple of months. Too dark to film outside and horrendously busy. BPS knives are great. Extremely good value for money.. Thanks for watching mate.
A week later or so, this morning I think I used it for my breakfast bacon. Not sure it was the same spatula. I have quite a few knocking around. Thanks for watching Andy
Thanks for stopping by Ray. It's a great little knife for 20 dollars. Of course it's not top quality at that price. The steel and the sheath could be better. But I think it would still be quite reasonable at twice the price.
A decade or so back I bought a similar cheapo "Timber Rattler" made in Pakistan for just this sort of work, used in the garden rather than in the outdoors, I agree there is a place for a cheap knife like that.
So many knives coming out of Pakistan, all of them cheap. I often wonder how they might perform. This knife would be so fantastic if it was made of 80CRV2. Cheap sells I guess and it's still a good tool. Thanks for watching mate.
I have it and am using it for carving. It’s small. I just throw it in the side pocket of my Dickey’s work pants and it becomes invisible. I put a braided leather dangler on the sheath also. Thanks 🎸🔪
Thank you for watching, it really is a good little carving knife and also a perfect size for many tasks. I think BPS make great knives expecially if you take the price into account.
I would have something filmed on that, but I have spent more time sharpening it than using it 😂. It came pretty blunt. I think they were trying so hard to get a convex edge that they got a round one 😂. I will see how it does with a proper edge on it soon. Thanks for watching Jeff.
Thanks for the video. I like my finnlite. I really like the profile of the blade. I don't like the secondary bevel, but I might leave it that way just for durability's sake. I also wish the handle was a bit taller. I find it's too small to grip in the hand, really. I have to grip with my fingers. I do prefer my Laurin Metalli puukko, but I had to make the handle myself which is prohibitive for some. Have you ever used the "mini-leuku" from Laurin? seems they have several sizes of blade between a proper leuku and a puukko. I'm thinking about buying a blade, but wondered if you had any familiarity?
I have a knife that I made years ago with a Lauri Laplander blade. That is a six inch leuku blade. Performs exactly as you would expect of a small leuku with a Lauri blade. It's a good knife, the sheath is a bit shoddy, but it's my leatherwork that's at fault there😂. The Finn lite is a good little knife. Mine has a zero grind and as if I am to be perfectly honest I don't remember it having a micro bevel. It has been sharpened quite a lot.
Great video!! I have been considering purchasing the Finn Lite for a couple weeks now, just might have to get it just because my knife addiction needs a new fix lol!! I already have several of their models, so why not lol!! I do have a question tho, you mentioned that you were going to oil the handle, what do you suggest for the oil?
Boiled linseed oil is my go to for wooden handles. I sometimes put a bit of pine tar in there to darken it a little. For 20 dollars it is a really fantastic little knife. Of course it's not mind blowing quality but I think it would be quite reasonable at twice the price. Thanks for watching mate.
Be a good lillte secondary knife, like the looks of it I was wandering what Finnish made puukko knife do you reccomend with a blade length of around 4 to 5 inches?
That is actually quite a difficult question, mostly because they tend to actually be very similar. They often have the same blades, 80CRV2 by Laurin metalli and similar handles. I love my Peltonen knives, but other than that if you are looking for something more traditional Eräpuu and woodsknife make some really good ones (I particularly like the Woodsknife hiker and predator). Brisa are quite popular making more modern bushcraft style knives, but for less money you can get something by Joker, of a similar and sometimes arguably better quality. Marttiini also make some really nice knives. I will try to do a video on this soon. It is a good question.
It seems more than likely they burned the edge and the point at the factory. At that price I suppose they're banging them out without too much nicety. If this is the case then eventually you will sharpen your way into the good steel. I agree that Puukkos win on comfort in many ways. Even down to the weight and balance of the traditional build.
It's quite normal for me to wreck the edges of my work knives. I think it just isn't a great Steel. It is still a great knife for just 20 dollars. Will do another video on the DK puukko soon mate. It's on the list 😂 Thanks for watching bud.
I like it fine but mine didnt come with that belt clip for the sheath wtf ? Any way threaded a para cord through the top hole for a neck carry for most general week ender stuff that i mostly do it is fine ,the back works good to scrape a ferro rod and or scrape tinder such as fat wood ,the blademakes good feather sticks for later on in the fire prep my hands are quite large so the handle is small to me but still pretty functional still wish it was larger though and i might make a new handle as well sheath for it layet on
It's a very good knife for the price and ideal for neck carry. I do think with these smaller knives the handles could be a bit bigger. I forgot to mention the sharp spine. Mine strikes a ferro rod great. Thanks for watching mate.
I also have an Aura and like it a lot. I have mine i the pocket without any clip. The sheet is very soft and nice and the knife have a typical north Scandinavian typical scandi grind. Avery nice small allround knife. I have tested one of their other knifes and found it cheap and poor quality.
The Aura is a lovely little knife. As for many of their other knives, well I think they are great for the price. But when you compare them to similar knives from more expensive companies. You do notice that the quality is not the same. Thanks for watching mate.
Use mine as a secondary cutting tool mainly used for feathers and small carving tasks ,also a bit of food prep .Great review. Great prices. I am going to get a second one for my son .God bless you and your family, and happy camping

Not a bad little knife for lite work, brilliant for carving. The sheath isn't so good but my Misses made me a fantastic neck sheath.👍🏻
I think it's fantastic for the price. Awesome little carver. The sheath isn't the best but it does it's job. Glad to hear that you have someone to make something better.

@Countryboy071 yes I can see that working well, I did the same with my BPS adventurer sheath, my new sheath is for my lite is the dogs danglies.👍🏻
Looks great. I have Boker Bark Beetle which is similar in size and shape. It’s very practical and I’ve done almost everything using it.
The Finn lite a great size for so many tasks and extremely comfortable to use. For the price it is really fantastic.
I don't own any Boker knives. Maybe I should.

@ I love knives and you are the man. Always watch you with joy. I’m the one that should say thank you. You have my respect

Give Jimmy a hug from me and the beast.
My mom had a kitchen knife like that 40 years ago .
I bet that 1066 steel would rust like hell in the kitchen. It does look like a kitchen knife though
Thanks for watching.

Was considering. Thanks for the review

@ 1066 isn’t the best, but very easy to sharpen.

@KuukkeliBushcraft Thanks,look forwards to it.👍
Looks like a cheap version of the Morakniv (Ash Wood) Finn. Seems good enough for the price?!?! 🙂
It's definitely good enough for the price, unlike the Morakniv 😂.
Thanks for watching mate.

Same with my knife: no clip. But they sell a nice flat leather sheath for neck carry, it works well for me.
It's a very good knife for the price and ideal for neck carry. I do think with these smaller knives the handles could be a bit bigger. I forgot to mention the sharp spine. Mine strikes a ferro rod great.

Like Killian's Red Irish Ale, steel too soft.......
Something is often lacking a it in cheap knives.
Thanks for watching Grizz
