Wait, Disney made a good modern remake? I must be dreaming.
What about castle of illusion on ps3
@@GreatGonzalez Not modern. The PS3 is a decade and a half old.
@@SaltyToad00oh yeah you're right. Is there any other remake i'm not aware of? Unless you're also including the movie remakes which in fact are quite bad
@@GreatGonzalez Yeah, those are the modern remakes I'm talking about.
Also, yes, I know I'm beating a dead horse by saying modern Disney bad.
Cause its made by purple lamp, a good thq nordic developer. Disney wouldn't be able to do something like that on its own.
It's impressive how the original from Wii hasn't aged so much, still looking amazing 13 years later, but of course the Remake looks SO GREAT.
Gives off some Kingdom Hearts vibes, which isn't a bad thing
This isn't a remake but a remaster.
This is a remake just look at the footage.
@@MicaelAlighieriThose are definitely new assets
Why are we judging whether it's a remaster or remake based off a cutscene? Like, yeah, the cutscene appears to be completely reanimated, but that doesn't really say anything about the actual gameplay.
It definitely looks more polished than the original.
A new coat of paint, if you will😏
@@Jackattack359 Ha! Good one dude.
@@user-hk4kv3uv4t thank you sir😉
It's just a cinematic cgi. Look at the graphic in-game ,it's not very enhanced or beautiful on switch
@@YeahBaby369 and nobody asked for it to be
Let's hope Oswald gets his own DLC Prospective, new Worlds, New Bosses, ad so on!
I would rather for them make a third game.
e @kaitourobin840 Yeah, it would be incredible
I hope it'll include voice acting like the sequel
Technically there is a third game already... on the 3DS. "Epic Mickey: The Power of Ilussion" @@kaitourobin840
@kaitourobin840 I agree with you this Franchise deserves a third game and Disney must start listening to their fans.
The only Remake Disney should have done to be praised
Ducktales wasnt bad either. :x
@@sinteleon that was a reboot doesnt count as a bad remake
@@PseudoName.NotReal was referring to the game, not the show.
I never had the chance to play the original Epic Mickey. The Switch will give me that chance when Epic Mickey is added to the consoles library.
You're going to love it
It's a really great game
Same. I’m going to play the original sometime this season. I didn’t realize the original was a Nintendo exclusive.
@@Oscar-GuzmanWell yeah, it was a Wii game. Honestly surprised that it’s coming to more than just the Switch
I remember I always wanted to try epic Mickey when I first had my Wii and now I can finally try it after all these years!
Whats great about this is the Switch version is how i remember the wii version looking when i was a kid. Thats how you know they nailed it
I agree. Plus. Watching this also made me realize that Visually, the wii version hasn't aged a bit. I hope this game turns out great.
FR, I WAS GONNA COMMENT THIS! So much nostalgia for this game, im so hyped
Love how in the Switch version, it takes place at night when Mickey gets pulled in instead of it being daytime. Something about that change makes it look more scary looking.
look at the windows in the og. it was always nighttime
@@OatchiBall27 , yes but it doesn't really seem like that due to the lighting of the game, what I mean is that they improved the lighting in the remake, so it seems more like it's night time due to the lighting and the shadows and the effect that they create
The ink looks SO good on the left cutscene. At first I thought they just put the old cutscene through an upscaler, but looking at them side by side, they clearly rendered it again and some effects were completely remade. That's pretty unusual for a remaster.
That’s because it’s not a remaster. It’s a remake.
That's some nice-looking animation in the remake.
So this is actually a full remake of Epic Mickey. I thought it would have been a simple remaster
Probably a good thing they didn't put remaster in the title then (no matter how much Google wants to auto correct me)
@@andrewmulert why not just port it??? The Nintendo Switch is the closest thing to imitating the Nintendo Wii so why not just port the game over and push the resolution to 720p/900p and enhance the framerate?
@@fantoniumnitrousBecause this isn't a Switch exclusive. It's coming to all other main platforms.
@@fantoniumnitrous
If I had to guess the coding of the two consoles were so different they just decided they might as well redo the whole thing. The wii and switch may be similar in concept, but we don't know how different the code/hardware is. Think about Apple vs Android and how apps have to be completely remade to "port" from one to the other. The wii and switch may both be nintendo consoles but the code/hardware just might not be compatible (After all they probably weren't planning a ton of wii ports when they made the switch).
@@thewispchannel1316 Then reverse engineering is the alternative strategy. It takes time but it's far worth more than rebuilding an entire game that never needed a remake to begin with. The Switch is literally on par with the Xbox 360 and PS3 whilst the Wii is on par with the GameCube so it'd blaze through the game with ease. Comparing this to Apple and Android devices makes no sense considering those are mainly based on software as appose to hardware. So how did they port The Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword onto there?
the only major point i'd give the Wii version of the opening is that Mickey feels a bit more "elastic" in his movements? It's very subtle, but the newer version seems to have a bit more of a realistic weight, making the timing of some movements a little bit different. The expressions of the movement are slightly less exaggerated than the Wii versions, which in the original it kinda made sense as they were calling back to Mickey's old animation.
Besides that, the newer opening looks better in every other way
I could be misremembering, it's been a long time since I last picked up the wii version, but I often felt that Mickey was a little too floaty during platforming sections and it made it difficult to navigate certain maps like Small World and Haunted Mansion. Maybe they adjusted his characters weight to correct that? I just hope they fixed the camera more than anything
One gripe I have is the new lighting. Don’t get me wrong, it looks absolutely phenomenal, but my problem is that it now doesn’t match the look of Thru the Mirror.
I have to disagree. Mickeys animation in the new version has more movement and is bouncier. I like his expressions in the old version better though.
Video games doing better to Mickey Mouse than where it originally got it’s start in film.
Lightning is leagues better. Now it actually looks like night when Mickey sleeps or sneaks through the dark corridors of Yen Sid’s tower. The textures are way more detailed too. You can see the wall’s grungy surface and a few cracks here and there. And look at the pot holding the paint. It’s been remodelled and actually has bubbling liquid inside it, rather than just a generic fog-like effect. The paint spills at the mouth of the pot are also different.
And theres probably more I haven’t seen yet.
I am BEYOND hyped for this one, absolutely LOVE this game!!
Wow the Luigi’s Mansion 3 theme actually fits pretty well with Epic Mickey
Dude my immediate thought was how better the lighting looks like the candles actually feel like candles and not a prop in a set under a spot light. And the particle effects from the brush!! The glow in the thinner bottle!!!
I hope the rest of the game is like this!
Man, the opening cutscene on the Wii terrified me as a kid and now it looks amazing and even scarier! Easily the most hype reveal aside from the og KI on NSO imo
Now, I am glad my little sister didn't get past the first level one years ago. I am definitely going to buy it for her. Though I hope not for her 17th birthday on June 7th. I don't want to wait so long. Reading what I just wrote, man, I feel old. I got this game for my 15th birthday on December 1st back in the day.
The cutscenes are a definite improvement over the original, but here are some things that I hope they improve from the original
1. Fix the camera
2. have voice acting in the cutscenes
Maybe voice acting could be optional for the nostalgia critics?
It would honestly be pretty nice to have voice acting. Imagining actually hearing Mickey admit he caused The Great Thinner Disaster, it’d be memeable but it’d be interesting
I remember the sequel had voice acting and even the main villain sang a song
Every song was sung by the main villain
@@DataHayseed well its been a while since I last played Epic Mickey. I knew the villain sang, but I forgot he sang every song
Cutscene darker on Switch. Gameplay darker on Wii. WTF?
That's a good thing it means they listened to feedback. The game looking drab and gloomy all the time even when repainting the world was a complaint back in the day. If they are addressing this issue by giving the paint and world more pop then hopefully they will address others like the camera controls.
To be honest, I liked the darker looking colors on the Wii as it gave a more gloomy/depressing look for the atmosphere. Still looking forward to this release though.
I'm okay with the cut scenes being darker in this instance because why in the world would it be so bright at night? What was the Wii trying to accomplish with that?
That's what I noticed right away I didn't belive it was possible for them to make the game darker
@andrewmulert well, it wasn't night when Mickey was taken. It was the early morning, if the second of background bird chirping was anything to go by. But I concurr, Mickey being kidnapped at night makes more cinematic sense.
It's weird how I remembered the og loking as how it look the remake but when I see the side by side comparison the diference is extremely obvious lol, I want the remake now XP
I literally replayed the second game today on ps5 and was asking myself „how cool it would be if they remade the first one“… damn
The second game isn't on PS5

I'm really glad this game is getting a remake and a perfect opportunity for us to escape the public domain nightmare the internet has created.
2024: The year of the Horror Genre Public Domain Mickey Mouse
why not just port it??? The Nintendo Switch is the closest thing to imitating the Nintendo Wii so why not just port the game over and push the resolution to 720p/900p and enhance the framerate?
@@fantoniumnitrousbecause it’s being released for other consoles than the Wii and would probably need to be rebuilt and recoded
The public domain is a nightmare now?? I feel like it's pretty cool
@@brandommario2 Yh? That's way better than a remake because it's the actual game. Developers these days make the excuse that they're "fixing" the original game but technically they aren't as they're completely rebuilding everything from scratch. A "Port" would actually be fixing the original game, like PC ports, as they take the originals but further enhance the resolution or framerate and even fix some bugs and glitches.
Although the new lighting is definetly brigther i dont think thats a bad thing, wasteland is supposed to be a place of magic.
Even when its in despair and darkness that dosnt mean there cant be a bit of light, even if it is too bright there will probably be a way to adjust the brightness in the settings.
I'm so looking forward to this. I was planning on getting the Wii version for awhile. Glad I held off on it now
was anybody else scared of the final boss as a kid?
Kinda but it helped by think it was something u flushed down the toilet
The difference is incredible. I'm blown away. Hopefully the in-game footage matches this, since this is only the intro cut scene.
the opening is just so much more graphically beautiful and fitting with the dark spooky vibe.
This game singlehandedly saved the Direct.
That and monkey ball

@@Comeonfhqwhgads95maybe the old battlefront games too
I agreed.
Nothing can save that trash Direct. 😂
what’s weird is the Switch cutscene is how i remember it looking on the Wii 🤣
it’s kinda crazy how our childhood minds just add in the extra polygons and shading
This is the moment i’ve been waiting for since birth. So what if I’m older than the original?
This game is going to look FANTASTIC!
The only good thing Disney made recently
Yeah, and as sad as that is, I’m very excited to play this game again after so long.
The remake is being developed by purple lamp, the same developers of SpongeBob: battle for Bikini bottom rehydrated, and SpongeBob: the cosmic shake. The game is also being developed using unreal engine.
I was hoping someone had made a video comparison of this!!
I just noticed that between the 2 graphics, the Rebrushed version animation looks like being in 60 FPS, and thus make the game look pretty fast/smooth paced and well animated, but it still keep the ending of the movements the characters do. For example, at exactly 1:46, Mickey looks at the paint brush while raising his shoulders instantly in the Wii version, but in the Rebrushed version, he waits before doing it. But at the end of the animation in which we see Mickey (So before he mixes the paint with his paintbrush in the pot), it's all synchronized, if we look at a starting point like 1:47 then going to the end. The graphics are also way more polished, especially when we look at the sort of purple goo Mickey has made by mistake and when it raises up.
Thanks to the Rebrush, not only are the details more crisp and clear, but we also get to see some details that may have been obscured from our view in the past!
While the Wii version generally holds up after all this time, the change in the graphics on the paint specifically is an immeasurable improvement.
It's beautifully done. Do we know who's developing the remake?
Purple Lamp GmbH, the studio that developed the SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom remake and The Cosmic Shake.

On the one hand, the new lighting looks beautiful & I am BEYOND excited to be able to play this game again! On the other hand, now the prologue has a plot hole because it says “one day” when the scene is clearly at night, and I’m terrified they replaced all the beautiful sketchbook cutscenes with generic CG cutscenes.
Thanks for the gameplay comparison
Mickey & Oswald (Disney Bros), Ortensia, Mad Doctor, Shadow Blot, Gus...Welcome back! 💗
Never would I have thought that they would bring back Epic Mickey back! I remember seeing commercials about this, but never tried. Now this is my chance.
Used to have this one but never got far in it cause I didn’t really understand it. I can’t wait to give it another shot!
This music really for what’s Disney is going for here. And Mickey waking at night instead of morning is also a nice touch.
The opening pre-rendered cutscene looks nice, but the gameplay sections look awful. It looks like someone turned up the saturation way too high. The contrast between paint and thinner objects is way too pronounced now. They don't mesh together anymore whatsoever. The lighting is so flat and uniform, especially in the haunted mansion section. All the atmosphere is gone. All I can say is that I hope it improves by release. Or that the version on other consoles looks a lot better.
Yeah. It does look a bit off with how vibrant the toon is against the inert/thinned out areas. Also, I’ve noticed that when Mickey leaps out of the projector in the gameplay, his ears remain in their normal position, despite his body and head front flipping so they clip through one another. Hopefully, these will be ironed out by release.
Basically don’t buy it on switch
I'm more curious how the Xbox and other versions will look
Cant believe how much effort they put just in the cutscene alone, cant wait for this remake to come out!
it looks like it's a bit more detailed on the Switch, but also way darker in some parts so i hope there's brightness settings
I've been asking for this for some time now and they finally did it. they should also remaster castle of illusions. ❤
I’m not fond of the new lighting.
It’s reducing the original’s gloomy atmosphere
Thank you! first comment that has the same thought as I did when i saw the gameplay clips
I hate the og lighting
What are you talking about? It's darker now it's got better visuals and it's the one on the left side.
@@joshuawebb4966He’s talking about the gameplay, not the cutscenes.
Well let's keep in mind that this is only the trailer, perhaps in the game the lighting in game will be fixed enough to give a good atmosphere to the environment of the worlds, I've seen game trailers that shows a really high lighting but in game everything fixed
I had no idea how stark the difference was. I haven’t played this in such a long time.
im so extremely excited!!! i will admit though, gameplay wise its kinda got that psychonauts 1 to psychonauts 2 effect where the lighting and colors are brighter, which takes away some of that fun..grungy? aesthetic? oh i dont care thoug im SO excited. this game means a lot to me :']
I want a Epic Mickey 2 remake next.
That was quick , even for you gameXplain
My joy is immeasurable and my day is blessed
This has been my favorite video game for my whole life. The ost(if remastered) is gonna go hard.
I like how they made Mickey’s room dark it bothered me that his room was bright when it was night time and he was asleep lol.
I really hope this game will look and run better on whatever Nintendo's next system gonna be. I've been wanting to play 'Epic Mickey' for so long but was too lazy to set it up on Dolphin. Especially the motion controls.
So glad to be alive to see this
Im honestly super excited, the original it was sometimes hard to see with how dark everything is but the new version looks way more colorful, i do admit though i hope msot the game is still drab as it was kinda a neat aesthetic that fit the atmosphere really well
this was my favorite game on the wii and im glad its getting a remaster (new super mario bros wii and wii sports are the other two)
...I really need to finish my wii copy.
I knew this game was a masterpiece under serious stress and development hell, but I never thought it'd get a full on remaster
I wonder if they’ll edit Prescotts character in this. I know the reason they changed his outfit from Blue to Purple in the second game was due to a color error, but I wonder if they’ll change his personality also since he’s good in the first game but more moody in the second.
can't wait to try this out
I actually like both, but I am somewhat mixed on how the gameplay graphics look, definitely very different, but I still look forward to it, especially what Mickey's new moves will be and how that changes the game!
Amazing how some of our memories can be influenced by seeing a new, but familiar, thing. I came here because I wanted to see if anything looked different from the Wii version; in my head, the new one looked exactly the same. Jeez, the new one looks amazing.
Mickey looks so much more lifelike in the new version! Can't wait for this to come out!
I am so happy this is getting a remake, I never finished the Wii game but I absolutely loved Epic Mickey.
This could just be because the game isn't finished yet, or maybe this was just a visual downgrade for Switch because it's (likely) made on Unreal Engine, but the outside of the mansion at 4:08 lacks any shadows on the white portion in front. Though this is just a nitpick. Hopefully this remake/remaster is good, I've never played Epic Mickey but it always looked cool visually.
why not just port it??? The Nintendo Switch is the closest thing to imitating the Nintendo Wii so why not just port the game over and push the resolution to 720p/900p and enhance the framerate?
@@fantoniumnitrous, really? Honestly in the age that we live now and what many do I appreciate some people taking the time and interest to really make a remake of a game and not simply port it without any effort on their part and make it cost the same as the original shamelessly
I love the Luigi's Mansion music playing lol
I heard that Purple Lamp studios reanimated the intro, so which is why it looks gorgeous?
Kinda prefer Mickey's expressions in the Wii more.
Maybe me as well but Im about to play this on Series X hopefully in 4K!
Somehow the switch version looked exactly the same like the Wii version in my memory but after watching the video I realized that nostalgia has tricked me once again
back then i played the wii one like all day and night it is like my most fav game ive played on my wii
Happy 14th anniversary Epic Mickey
i feel like this is the opportunity to fix all the issues with the main game and make it truly a masterpiece, the concept is so unique and amazing I hope this remake does a good job expanding on it
I like the update look. I hope that they bring the sequel to the switch as well.
Talk about rose-tinted glasses. I didn’t even realize it was a full remake. This is what I remember it looking like. This game freaked me out so much as a kid.
Exactly 💯 I always found the "this is how I saw ocarina of time as a kid" a bit of stretch hut good grief while the original isn't...bad? Still a big wake up call of age
What an absolute change and upgrade.
Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon theme is so beautiful!
So they just updated the lighting?
I think it will come out on the 25 of march that is my gut feeling
I’m crying from how beautiful this looks
Now we need a classic Mickey Mouse games collection similar to Pac Man Museum Plus.
The original Wii version's cutscene looks like it was animated in that 40s vibe frames of animation.
The new remake's cutscenes looks like they were animated for theatric movie appeal of the modern age.
This isn't counting in-game animations just yet (this is the Switch's third party standards we talking about, but hey the PC version might look very good).
I am so excited for this remake
A bit torn on this, on one hand the remake looks great... On the other hand, the original has that charm to it... Hm... I've always liked the Sun from the Asisan Boat Ride, same with the Aladdin Palace on the left. Same goes for Lonesome Manor, but the original Lonesome Manor was darker, compared to the brighter colors of the rebrushed. Epic Mickey was built on the concept of Disneyland, but Twisted. I can't possibly picture fighting a more colorful Clocktower and somehow tensing up like how I did in the original Epic Mickey in 2010. I love Epic Mickey, I love the remake, but... This is a toughy...
There were 10 times that I always thought that Disney might have a chance to release the 3rd game for epic Mickey, but I never thought they literally remastered the first one and I am super hyped and I thought I was dreaming, but all I have to do is pinched myself to see if it’s cap or fact
It looks a lot better. I mean that’s to be expected for a remake of a 14 year old game but still. It’s way more polished, if you look closely in the cutscene you can see the paint looks more natural and realistic than it did on the Wii, the texture of basically everything has massively improved making it look more realistic and in the part where Yen Sid, who is the wizard for those who don’t know, comes down the stairs to see what’s going on, you can obviously see his shadow. In the Wii version his shadow doesn’t look great, but the Switch version, it’s looks great. I did play Epic Mickey on Wii as well as its sequel and didn’t end up finishing either. I feel like I got like halfway through the 2nd and not far at all in the first one but that’s back when I was not that good at video games. Judging by the fact that a I beat Champion’s Road in Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury in just 2 days as opposed to the months it took me to beat on the Wii U, I have improved.
I skipped this on wii. Maybe will pick it up on switch.
Wait are those in game graphics? Though perfectly possible I was under the assumption this was just a cinematic intro of the game?
t
Thanks for the side by side comparison very good
The actual animation itself looks redone! Like… it seems tweaked somehow (besides graphically)! Looks great!!
Why did you use Luigi's Mansion 3 music?
Because of copyright.
I hope this is like a BFB situation where this leads to another game, maybe EM2 with all its issues fixed
