Gotta disagree with you here. At least I knew that the Wii U was a product. I thought the N64 trailer was a Virtual Boy concept video or some sort-of graphics partnership that never materialized. I only realized that was for a console when I saw the GBA trailer start and thought the uploader forgot the N64 trailer.
Now I can think why PS1 was more succesful at that time, better marketing. At the WiiU trailer , I can see it was mostly focused in the controller, like a new peripherial for the Wii.
To the people wondering why I didn't include the Virtual Boy and the GameBoy Color. The Virtual Boy was not in the video because it was a huge failure and, in my opinion, doesn't deserve to be counted. The GBC was just an upgrade from the original GameBoy, simular to how the DSi is a slight upgrade from the DS and the New3DS is an upgrade from the 3DS. In my opinion, the true successor to the GameBoy was the GBA. Also, I would like to apologize for not including the Game and Watch, which some people pointed out. Anyway, thank you all for over 29,000 views. You guys are the best! 😀

The Switch's one is just so awesome... it isn't cheesy, it shows exactly what the console is, they flashed the name up several times so that NO ONE can get confused about what this is and Jesus Christ I have had that song in my head for the last month... It wins on all counts and the massive interest in it and the hype it has generated is really testament to that.

Anyone notice how the Switch is the only trailer that actually shows off the use you'll get out of it? for example the Wii is greatly exaggerated and wasn't even like that and the Wii U well, really no one used it like that. I feel with the Switch they wanted to promote it in ways you'll actually use it. Let's just say though the worst was the Wii U the marketing for that thing was terrible.
Wii U was so much better than the wii. Easier interface, still used the old one, so much better graphics. Also you don't need the tv, I typically just have regular cable running in the background unless playing ZombieU

Are you insane? I was actually there when the GameCube released and if you ask anyone who was too they would tell you that the gamecube had overly childish, nauseating and ugly graphics. Example: super mario sunshine, when that game released I couldn't play it without my eyeballs exploding or being on the verge of vomiting 6 years worth of food because of how ugly the color palettes were, and don't get me started on how the 3D models looked on almost every game. The design was horrible too. All that space wasted on ports for some random extensions no one bought. The whole console looked like a toybox. Later on they learned from their mistakes and released the wii, basically an overclocked gamecube with little tweaks. The graphics were much better to look at and didn't fry your eyeballs like the GameCube.

YOU UNLOCK JUST AS MUCH IN GAME AS YOU WOULD NORMALLY, YOU CAN GET MORE CONTENT THAN A NORMAL AMOUNT THROUGH DLC. at least it's how it works in Nintendo. Example: Mario kart 8. Mario kart 8 has the same amount of characters, courses, and karts as any other Mario kart. But you can multiply it by 1.5 through the dlc. Without dlc, it's still the standard Mario kart experience.

Thanks for posting, this is great. Looking back, I can see now why Wii U was so confusing for some people. In the trailer they kept saying "Controller this, controller that" but never actually made clear that it was a new system altogether. I remember that you had to dig deep to even find out what the actual console looked like. Don't get me wrong, I still love my Wii U, but now I see why it likely failed.
NES, SNES, and Gameboy all appealed to hardcore gamers. The N64 was misleading, the Game Boy Advance was boring, the DS was weird, the Wii was on point (pun intended), the 3DS concept was right in front of you (pun intended), the Wii U literally looked like an add-on for the Wii seeing how they showed Wii Sports and only said "New Controller", and the Switch tried to appeal to all gamers. *All gamers.* It's changed for the good my friend.
Nintendo has really come a long way and alot of gamers have been right along for that ride.Hope the Nintendo Switch finds it's place in this generation's homes as the Super Nintendo and Gameboy found a place in mine while growing up.

I didn't include Gameboy Coor mostly because it was more of a slight upgrade from the original gameboy. In my opinion, the true successor to the Gameboy is the Gameboy Advance.
NeoKoopa64 I agree to some extent, but the Game Boy Color had its own library of exclusive games that didn't work on the original Game Boy, so that technically makes it it's own thing. Not that there's a problem with the video the way it is or anything.
The DSi and New 3DS have their own exclusive games as well, but are pretty consistently considered upgrades of rather than successors to the DS and 3DS, respectively. Considering the GBC an upgrade follows the same logic, as there are GBC-enhanced games as well as GBC-exclusive games. The proportion of GBC exclusives is a lot greater than DSi or New 3DS exclusives, though, so there's more of an argument to look at it as a successor.
Cae Herlin Fair enough, but I simply consider that the GBC is its own thing Because it outlived the original Game Boy. True, the DSi outlived the original DS model and the DS lite, but the Game Boy survived from 1989 - 1999 or so, from the NES all the way to the N64. That throws off the tradition of having one handheld console and one home console in the same generation. The Game Boy Color, though short lived, fills that gap nicely, so I consider the Game Boy Color the second generation handheld for Nintendo, coinciding with the Nintendo 64, while the original Game Boy was paired with the SNES and the Game Boy Advance with the Gamecube. It's complicated logic, but consoles back in the day were complicated.
Not including the Game Boy Color was actually a mistake, Nintendo always treated it as the successor to the original Game Boy, it was never meant to be an upgraded version

It's weird how much the marketing aim for Nintendo changed. It kinda shows how the market has changed tremendously.
NES, SNES, and Gameboy all appealed to hardcore gamers. The N64 was misleading, the Game Boy Advance was boring, the DS was weird, the Wii was on point (pun intended), the 3DS concept was right in front of you (pun intended), the Wii U literally looked like an add-on for the Wii seeing how they showed Wii Sports and only said "New Controller", and the Switch tried to appeal to all gamers.

Game Boy Color?
I didn't include Gameboy Coor mostly because it was more of a slight upgrade from the original gameboy. In my opinion, the true successor to the Gameboy is the Gameboy Advance.
NeoKoopa64 I agree to some extent, but the Game Boy Color had its own library of exclusive games that didn't work on the original Game Boy, so that technically makes it it's own thing. Not that there's a problem with the video the way it is or anything.
The DSi and New 3DS have their own exclusive games as well, but are pretty consistently considered upgrades of rather than successors to the DS and 3DS, respectively. Considering the GBC an upgrade follows the same logic, as there are GBC-enhanced games as well as GBC-exclusive games. The proportion of GBC exclusives is a lot greater than DSi or New 3DS exclusives, though, so there's more of an argument to look at it as a successor.
Cae Herlin Fair enough, but I simply consider that the GBC is its own thing Because it outlived the original Game Boy. True, the DSi outlived the original DS model and the DS lite, but the Game Boy survived from 1989 - 1999 or so, from the NES all the way to the N64. That throws off the tradition of having one handheld console and one home console in the same generation. The Game Boy Color, though short lived, fills that gap nicely, so I consider the Game Boy Color the second generation handheld for Nintendo, coinciding with the Nintendo 64, while the original Game Boy was paired with the SNES and the Game Boy Advance with the Gamecube. It's complicated logic, but consoles back in the day were complicated.
Not including the Game Boy Color was actually a mistake, Nintendo always treated it as the successor to the original Game Boy, it was never meant to be an upgraded version
