Hey all, this is a sponsored video which helps me continue to create these awesome projects. Todays sponsor is NordVPN, so if you'd like to try it out and get 70% off plus 2 months free here is the link: nordvpn.com/towan or you can use the promo code: TOWAN.
I've been using NordVPN to not only keep my internet data private but it also allows me to watch content that is usually blocked in my location, as an example I have been watching the 'Great Model Railway Challenge' which is a UK based TV show that isn't available in Australia.
I'm also working on updating my website so pretty soon I'll have some extra photos and information about this project there to check out, like all the 3D printer files I used
    😉

In your recent build videos the intro always makes me go "hmmm so that is the real-world reference scene he'll be using to create the diorama which we haven't seen yet"... and then I am blown away that your intro IS the diorama!
Even though I am not a model-maker by any means I love watching these, very soothing and fun to watch and wholesome content which my young kids are also fascinated by.

About half way through the video it struck me how much longer it must take to do this with having to place the camera, check the frame, move it and start and stop it constantly, etc. Given the editing, music and voice over, it has to be a huge process on top of the model construction alone. Hats off to you Luke.

The subway train is actually a model Hitachi train which was a suburban metropolitan train that was running in Melbourne until they were retired from service in 2014! They began service in 1971 and had an overall design that was hugely directly inspired by New York stainless steel subway trains at the time so because of that it works great as a subway train! The station design also appears to be based on the design of Melbourne Central Station in the Melbourne CBD! :)

Nice, I love it. Back years ago sometime in the mid 80s I made a subway loop under my layout. It was a versions of a Boston Ma trolley stop I ran LRV true. Unfortunately when I moved it all got taken down. I actually took my camera with me to take reference pics at one of the stations and got yelled at. I never knew you were not allowed to photograph T stops! LOL I did manage to get some good pics of the tile walls I was able to duplicate to make large sheets to cover the walls. I had to have several prints of the same photo glue them on a sheet and go back to the camera shop to copy and print it on regular photo paper because they are actually shiny under the dirt and at the time there was no printers or software. Eventually I will refurbish it because now there are so many options to make and print better quality stuff.

Amazing! I’m planning a new model railroad with an emphasis on passenger service, and a subway scene is going to be part of the overall layout. I wasn’t planning on all these details, but it seems that it wouldn’t be much more work than my original planned design. Thank you for sharing this wonderful creation.

    4. Lettuce and onions
    5. Tomatoes and jalapenos
    6. Bell peppers and banana peppers
    7. Mayonaise and salt and pepper

Not super into model railroads, but this makes me reconsider to an extent! Least if I ever do want to build one, it would probably be this form factor. One, I really like the self-contained nature of this setup, so that needing to move/transport it, would be mainly disconnecting, taking down and then stacking each section onto a pallet. Two, the self contained nature means the face can be covered in plexi to cut down on dust, as well as keep the trains contained from catastrophic derails. I also see ways to make the internals easily accessible from above and below. Three, it seems like a much safer way to contain a layout while suspending it at a height, as well as still offering a LOT of area for various detailed sections/vignettes to be introduced throughout the layout (from mining areas, work crews, maybe a "hidden track" similar to secret sidelines or disused vintage stations, fantasy cave sections, etc).
Some go for super-realism, but I think having a fantasy crystal/mushroom cave section with fiber optics would look amazing. Besides, there's precedent with the Naica, Chihuahua cave (albeit not with a train running through it, but still). It's also not popular, but I think there's more potential for using a setup like this for a sci-fi setup or a futuristic section.
Anyways I'm also trying to say this is a great idea and execution haha.

Stunning work as always! A quick tip for preventing seams on the fabric flooring you laid out. Overlap two pieces using the textures for alignment, cut a straight line across the width and remove the two small strips that result from the cut; you'll have a perfectly matched seam that you won't need to paint-fill.

Incredible work. You're very talented, articulate and informative. Appreciate those awesome qualities. My son enjoys creating car, truck and motorcycle scenes using whatever materials he can find around the house and yard, although he isn't limited to just those resources, he does like to max out his uniqueness. I believe he is very talented and should study people like you to get some great ideas and possibly some tips, tricks, and personal advice. My roommate is the one who is into the train scenes and has devoted almost an entire top floor of a house he built himself to recreate the train world as he sees it. An elevated floor, lighting, an elevated center floor with a nice walk around, but it just sits there, year after year and nothing gets started much less done. I've tried to encourage him by getting him subscriptions to train magazines. You know, like scenes to get ideas from. I've even bought him some trains and tracks, the good ones, with trees, and bushes, and animals and houses, but nothing. Maybe with my son getting his hobby going, he'll feel inspired again to do something with the place he made specifically for the train world. One question I have right now, is where do you get your people from? I was just going to start making them from clay and whatnot, cook and paint the details, but there must be a company that specializes in this. Thanks for sharing this video, we are anxious to seymore and learn, lolol.

This definitely is cool, also love that its a project that never really ends, you can as said in the end always add more stuff to it or even add it onto another scene.
Definitely look forth to see what you've added to it. If you'd like another project suggestion, what about a mountain tunnel scene in a similar style as this, except the back wall is opened and you'll have a view upon a valley or mountain area.
Kind of in the same way they make videogame levels?

In NYC at the far end of the platforms are public created rest rooms where people actually go to relieve themselves in addition to the stations being filthy. I was at the end of the platform in the direction the train was going in so that I could be in the first car. Across the track on the platform of the train going in the opposite direction (far end of that platform) I watched a woman lift up her dress squatted and urinated. Nothing but pigs and slobs in NYC, disgusting...
