    Love the acknowledgment of the privilege behind having a safety net as you make the jump to full time self employed content creator! One of the biggest risks I can see is that you wouldn't have health insurance starting out. I see so many influencers making digs about people staying in unfulfilling corporate style jobs, when that's often the only way health care is affordable to most people in this country. The digs are normally from younger influencers that are still supported on their parent's insurance, or from married ones who get their insurance from their traditionally employed spouse. I just think that's one of the under addressed aspects of this, and is a big factor in gatekeeping disabled individuals, who have no choice to be insured or die, from gaining a platform and keeps them underrepresented in this type of space.

    I definitely don’t mean to overstep, just a piece of feedback from an audio engineer. Sierra, your mic has some reverb because you're sitting in a corner. Maybe while you’re redoing the set, you could add some foam on the walls that matches the new aesthetic! But I’m excited for the rebrand regardless 🧡

      Thank you so much for the feedback, absolutely not an overstep. We will fix this moving forward- the next episode was pre recorded so may still have that issue, but we will troubleshoot it for the next recording sesh 😊

      Not technical in the least, but to me it sounded like your microphone wasn’t working and we were just hearing through the camera microphone for you. Could also be the corner reverb too though.

    As someone that works in a STEM field, I had to learn the hard way that it is okay to value your worth when discussing pay with companies. It's neat that you're sharing this because even if you are not an influencer, that advice is still applicable!!

    I think another big reason that you’ve developed into a “ perfect isn’t always best ‘messy’” type of video style, and someone correct me if I’m wrong for thinking this, is your self confidence and your confidence in not just being a content creator, but in your body and self worth. Looking back at your old videos, it’s very much focused on flattering ( I freaking hate that word lmao), slimming, and hiding the parts of your body accordingly, though through the years as you’ve fallen into ( though it’s less of a fall and more of a mental very forceful push) body neutrality and self acceptance, your content has changed as well. And as you had come to love yourself for your quirks and imperfections you’ve also come to love your content for the same, and your expectations of perfection were pushed from the foreground backwards. This year a big goal of mine has been to accept my body for what it is rather than shame for what it isn’t ( which your content has helped me with and I wear my merch proudly) and I had started at the beginning of 2022 a “ one photo a day” type thing to help me ‘fall in like’ with myself again. And when in the beginning of the year I’d take 30 photos to pick the one I like the most, now as I have become more appreciative of my body, I simply take a photo, add it to the collection, and move on with my day, without adding thought to it. And I feel that I’ve noticed a similar feel with your content. As our self confidence blooms, our internal monologue nags a little less, and becomes an extra rather than a sidekick. Anywho, all this being said, I love your content, thank you so much for helping along my own person journey of body neutrality, I hope you and the whole team and Ryan and Paloma and grace and your family and anyone who bothered to read this are happy healthy and hydrated, you’re loved you’re valid and you’re worthy of respect. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk!

    I'm only like a third of the way but I'm loving this episode so much (the other ones too to be fair haha). I honestly don't know how many subs Sierra had when I started watching but it feels like it was close to the beginning and wow! It's so awesome to see how your channel has grown, the ways in which you have changed and now to hear a little bit more of the behind-the-scenes. I really admire you Sierra, not just for the message you put out into the world but for the person you are and how you have managed your career. If anyone is watching thinking "she has the best job ever how could she complain" then they are not in touch with reality. Every job fantastic or not has it's down sides and opening your life up to criticism from strangers has to be really hard! And you do it simply so we can have entertainment. More power to you!

    I both love and hate that you touched on “being too much”. Hate that you’ve been told that, but love that the discussion came up. Elyse Myers has a saying “go find less”. I heard it around the same I was making an internal realization about myself and gave me the words I needed to express the feeling. I have a 9 month (next week) old daughter and I never want her to dull her shine or lessen her sparkle because some jerk thinks she’s too much, but I realized I hold myself back all the time. Terrible example for her. So I’m done. I will never make myself less again so that they can feel “more”. If I’m “too much” then as Elyse says, they can go find less. I like who I am and that took years. I’m embracing all of my “too much” going forward

    Folks chasing money on TikTok should check out Hank Green's video where he explains how they pay creators versus how UA-cam pays. I'm not saying to abandon TikTok - I think the creators could force them to change their pay model. But Riayn and Palmona seemed surprised by the info that UA-cam pays better because for newer creators it seems like most are hypnotized by the popularity of TikTok. Good luck to you three with the new pod branding!

    Hey y’all! A little constructive suggestion if you’re open to it:
    All three of you are SO fun and have amazing chemistry. I love watching y’all!
    However I think it would be nice to have more personality variety on some episodes. I feel like people like Kenzie and Steven are a great balance in the episode they’re on and I think more guests like that would be really appealing to your less-energetic/extroverted fans.
    Love the pod, I’ll be listening either way ☺️

    I just watched this entire video and loved it even though I'm not wanting to be an influencer lol but the advice can still apply to life in general so I still feel randomly motivated and inspired. I'm also super curious which video has the labels all covered up but it's fine!

  • @amyarcher8017
    @amyarcher8017 2 роки тому

    Super interesting! I always feel bad when influencers feel like they have to almost apologize for acknowledging downsides to their industry. I think everyone has things they don't like about their job and we should all be able to share that without having to give a list of our privileges. I get where you are coming from and why you do, I just think people need to recognize that you didn't "wish you could do that", you worked 2-3 jobs in addition to UA-cam. You were committed and regardless of how hard life got or if you were tired, you got up and you made content, which involved so much! Sure, there are really idealistic aspects, but for all the people that are starting out and doing everything themselves, that's a full-time job without the pay.

Rock tumbling, gardening, making a smoothie, your presence just puts a smile on my face. Like you said we are your peers and really see you as a friend because you are so relatable. And when you think about good friends, you can hang out with good friends and do absolutely nothing and still have the best time and that’s really how I feel about your content! I watch 100% of the videos you post on your main channel, vlog channel and podcast channel, but my favorite is definitely the vlogs and podcasts. I love the relatability and authenticity and that comes with the vlog and podcasts. Also, OBSESSED with Riayn and Paloma. So so so glad you 3 are doing this together. I'm not at all meaning for this to come across as rude or unnecessarily critical, but I have some honest feedback that I wanted to share. I loved this podcast before, but I find it hard to watch now, even though I really want to love it! It's just that the number of times the word "like" is said makes it almost unwatchable for me. I say like regularly myself, so I completely get it, but it seems very excessive here and I had to shut it off, even though I'm genuinely interested in the topic and enjoy listening to the three of you.
