I've stopped worrying about being "more interesting" to other people. Life is too short! It comes naturally by focusing on self-improvement using the techniques you've mentioned!! For example, based on your points:
    1. Putting the phone away
    2. Embracing new experiences
    3. Learning something new (language, instrument etc)
    4. Backing yourself, being self-confident with your decisions
    5. Sharing stories with a stranger, and trying to empathise with them
    6. Just being unapologetically yourself and not forcing it
I've been trying to put these into practice - it's hard but we gotta keep improving ourselves ✌️💪🔥

How did I get over it? I changed my mindset. Some people think I'm an amazing person, and others find me boring, weird, even a bad person. How is it that there are so many different perceptions of me. Shouldn't everyone see me the same way?
No matter what, it will never be that way. Even if you find yourself to be boring, there are people who won't, so there's no point in being self-conscious about what people think. All that matters is that you shape yourself into a version of yourself you're satisfied with

What kind of music do you like? Those people that asks us about our interests are often the ones we remember as being the most interesting. So, are individuals innately interesting or is it their actions that we find interesting? Being present, asking open ended questions, listening and mirroring our responses back to us to establish connection and to ensure a clear understanding?

Be yourself, embrace who you are and have fun!
You don't need to be interesting. Just enjoy this life and remember to be kind to one another.
We're all way too weird to not be interesting in some form.

Curiosity, openness, play. Actually immersing in the experience of life here and now- in the REAL that is physical and social. A runaway mind that talks too much is not interesting, it's a barrier to connection. I noticed this after spending a year in a cult as someone who didn't believe in the ideology, so coexisting and side-stepping disagreements that would blow up and just be a waste of time. I noticed that so many people spent their days repeating the same phrases, mantras and endless rambles to each other. They sounded like identical drones. And I wondered what else they experienced, what they really wanted and what they had lost in life. I saw their unique humanity obscured by the noise, and on top of that, the coldness of ideology... a runaway mind.
Being here, physical, letting go. We begin to see differently and see what really lasts a long time.

Lana that realization from excerpt 10:10, is so beautiful. It just reminds me of that quote from Ayn Rand, that 'You can fake virtue for an audience. You can’t fake it in your own eyes. Your ego is your strictest judge. They run from it. They spend their lives running.' oh God I love this episode, thanks for sharing Lana, you challenge the boundaries of my perspectives again, Thank you!

Often, we see ourselves as 'boring' and 'uninteresting' whereas perceive others as 'fun' and 'intriguing'. But what we don't realise we, as humans, are characterised by both of those traits. You are more interesting *than you think* so don't worry, just be yourself! 👌🏻

I totally agree being authentic is just the most important thing. Stop trying to be something you’re not. Everybody’s different and yes we’re not meant to vibe with every person we meet, it’s just what it is. It doesn’t make you less of a person if you don’t vibe with another person. You don’t need to be more. That just means this person is not a match for you

Haha yeah I've learned to not get caught up overthinking whether I'm getting every last detail of a story perfect. Stressing over it mid story makes things far more awkward than just telling it as best as possible confidently, and perhaps even joking about what I must be forgetting

To be honest a lot of people are struggling with the exact same issues, so it can be hard to find people who are both in the same stage of their journey engaging with an open mindset but ALSO actively seeking connection, which is what allows you to break through to people.
Also the fact that even people who have started on this journey may still be in the preliminary stages and thus struggle with opening up, or they're anxious and don't knoow what to say or how to say it, or they're in the 'improvement' stage where they're doing self-work to become a person that they feel is worth being around, etc. Which can make it difficult to connect, since they're focused on what they view as the goal (improving themselves to be more interesting) rather than the process (which is being open and connecting - this is what really helps with improvement on a human-to-human level) and that precludes them from getting off the ground in conversation at that particular point in time.
It's hard for me to know how to break through this, but sometimes you have to risk looking like a total idiot to get people to open up. That could mean anything from trying to start a meta conversation and hoping the person is perceptive/open enough to recognize what it is that you're looking for to just putting yourself in environments where there's a higher likelihood to run into people who are willing and able to connect with you personally.

Who cares about being perceived as interesting? Just do what you want with your life, and try not to mess it up to an irreconcilable degree. But even if you do, it's usually not as bad as you think. You can go to prison for 20 years for murder, miss your child's birthday, and get in a prison fight resulting in becoming partially disabled, and you can still get a job and support yourself, while focusing on your hobbies, once you get out. So, even that (although a horrendous life situation) it's not the end of the world. People overcomplicate life so much for no reason.

I’m not very good at expression but this video has really helped me, second week of my freshman yr right now. I could say my first week sucked, social wise. I know it was only the first but I felt really lonely compared to everybody else. Even I’m in drum line, I still struggled to make friends with my bandmates. So before this Monday that passed by, I saw this video, let’s just say it gave m motivation to be more self confident, took like 2 days for this week to put that into reality. Right now, I’m finding myself getting closer with my bandmates and I feel so proud of myself right now, thank you.
