  • A much better quality version of the one I added almost a year ago. Not only the sound, but also de image. The song was the highest entrance in de dutch top 40 of 18 november 1970.
Mariska Veres, Robbie van Leeuwen, Klaasje van der Wal and Cor van der Beek.

One of the most angelic voices to have ever sung. My life feels blessed by this music.

It’s almost criminal that this band wasn’t more successful in America. So many great songs like this one. Robbie Van Leeuen was a musical genius. He left the band in 1974 citing “lack of success” as the reason. I assume they got some lousy record deals, or were just plain ripped-off by the bigwigs in the musical industry. Whatever the reason, I’m sure it wasn’t lack of fans, or interest in their music. I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and at the age of 63 in 2024, I am just now re-discovering how great this band really was.

It transcends my mind to, for one moment, imagine the degree of joy & happiness to have been Mariska's husband ! I weep of the sheer possibility, to love & serve her above all else.

Better quality! I still think it's a shame they decided to film so much of this through plastic. It's a waste of precious footage to not see Mariska better than through that barrier.

I ve learned of Shocking Blue when I was 16 and started to learn the guitar. Our friend started with me with Venus, somethin we soviets knew with whatever lyrics, haha. Now I realize that its much more than Venus, took me 20 and some years

Died at 49 in the late 90's , health problems probably to do with drinking when he was young.
He also played with livin blues and the Leo Unger band and as a studio musician.
