this video is pretty cool ive been thinking of doing something like this replacing the power supply, ram, ssd, cooling and putting a better video card into a dell 7010 for a sort of budget build around 300 or so and have been doing a lot of research but i also think it would just be funny to have what looks like a normal dell when it is actually a decent gaming pc
This will make for great office work build!
yeah these are great office builds. originally got the 7010 as an extra computer and it turned out being my main computer. I got it with 16 gigabytes of RAM and it runs well.
I like how the graphics card will draw all the heat from the power supply. Awesome build man.
power supply doesn't heat up there. and there is holes to the left of it. what are you saying
Plus there's a fan inside the power supply where it actually heats up. You are beyond idiotic
I have a 7010 sff and as far as I could find Dell recommends a maximum of 50W PCIe power draw for the SFF models for a vid card. I am currently using a msi nvidia gt 1030 2 gig with no issues but its power draw is pretty much max from the slot. 16 gig ram 1 tb ssd primary and 2tb hdd secondary both bootable. Great little budget system.
Thank you!!! Thanks to you, I now have a MUCH better gpu! Excellent video!
What can I do for airflow I was thinking just have a fan and open the hatch and can someone give me a direct link to the gpu plz
I'd like to see this work personally. The PSU in the SFF is rated at 240W. In my experience, the DELL PSUs are solid but this card is rated at something like 75-300W I think and the blue PCIex16 slot is only rated for 50W. A lot of people say they've pushed it even further than this but the heat in that chassis must be ridiculous. (BTW, Dell only recommends the AMD Radeon HD7470/HD7570 series cards for this SFF model.) The HD7570 is adequate for those on a budget and can be found on ebay for $20. I was able to build one of these systems with a 500GB SSD/2TB HDD, 16GB of RAM and an HD7570 card for
It’s a dual fan gpu and it already wouldn’t produce much heat with only 50 watts of power

with sff models you should always check if the pci slot will provide the full 75w

lol i love this video. I've been a tech all my life so i didn't really need to watch this, but am sure glad i did. it's just done so damn well and for those with no hardware experience will save money by doing this upgrade themselves. i have a optiplex 7010 with i5-3470 @3.2ghz and i thought i would need to be buying a better computer soon to play newer games, but i'm learning now after watching all these videos available on the optiplex 7010 3rd gen i5 i've discovered it's not the computer upgrade which is going to give me the best gaming experience, but the video card. i naively thought i would have decent enough gaming with my computer and the new gt710 2gb, but i found out my mistake was spending $35 for that video card, when i should have spent $70 and got a 1030lp. well, i plan on spending $200 on the next video card so im gonna keep this computer, and get good gfx card. that way when i do get a newer computer i can just transfer video card to it.
Im not a major PC geek..but in the market for a decent PC..Looking at one with i7 3770 @ 3.2 ghz with 16G of ram and 2T hardrive..it donst say anything about the graphic card..but Im also looking at 9020 with i7 4770 3.4 ghz with 16G ram but upgradable to 32G 2t hard drive ...it's only $50 difference...Beats the hell out of me what all the different CPU chips are, Im guessing the 4770 is a little bit faster or wont run as hot..Nothing on the video cards..I guess I could plan on invest another $ 100 into a decent graphic card..so nothing fries for $500 tower
and another $300 for a 4k 50" monitor.
@@oneeyemonster3262 I've got the 7010 with i5-3470 @ 3.2ghz, 16gb RAM and a Geforce 710 Card. The 710 is getting replaced with a 1030lp in a couple days so should see considerable gfx improvement i'm hoping. (right now the 710 is fine for playing metal gear and eve online but medium and fallout 76 definitely want a better card). From all the research I've done this Dell Optiplex 7010 i5-3470 @ 3.2ghz w/ 16 gigabytes of RAM is a decent computer to stick a decent graphics card in and have one hell of a decent gaming system. I'm almost tempted to get the 1050 but it's about $100 more. Does anyone have experience moving from 1030 to 1050 (remember I'm running a GeForce GT 710 atm). I'd love to get that 1650 but I think that's a little too spendy, but i need to check prices.
@@rljpdx Im researching becuase Im not too familar or caught up to date with PC. Getting back into gaming again. I like to mess with game files/mod games. Like to keep the tower under $500...
Im not even sure if you can replace graphic cards in some mother boards..That's why Im researching. I sort of have to do it right the first time around. Make sure the video cards will match/work on the PC I purchase. I still need to purchase GAMES to get me going. Like to keep it around $1k.
@@oneeyemonster3262 yeah i got this small form factor dell for $150 off craigslist last year. i',m actually looking at amazon now lol looking at 1030's, 1050's and 1650's. as the 1650 is close in price to the 1050 it looks like I'm just comparing on price now between the 1030 and 1650. when stimulus check 3 comes in i just might pull the trigger and get the 1650 because the performance i see on the UA-cam vids is phenomenal; meaning close to or better than console quality. I was playing Fallout 76 on the 710 but it's just too slow. yeah, my gaming rig is all used equipment atm but all together if i do decide to go with the 1650 my gaming right will be about $500. Dell Optiplex 7010 (i5-3470 @3.2 w/ 16gb RAM) + GeForce 1650 will give me a totally playable rig.

That graphics card just fit into there like puzzle piece
I have Dell Optiplex 7010 sff so my question is will every Low Profile GPU will fit on it...asus is 18.2 cm....MSI is 17cm long ?
I don't know why folks would be suprised with this. It's a regular desktop PC, just in a small form factor. And for the power supply in here you are limited to the pcie power on the motherboard though you might be able to use a sata to pcie adapter for lower wattage cards.

Nice work 😊
This video card (same as im running) is a great video card for what i do. HOW EVER i did try it in two of dells sff. First one being a xe2 ultra sff, and as some comments mentioned air is VERY restricted, and oh my yes the gpu becomes a toaster fast. Also for what ever reason dells smart engineers decided for their 4th gen mother boards "we will move the 16x slot down one and move and move the 4x slot up" 🤦 so this made the video card not usable in the 16x slot at all, only one left was the 4x slot with the open end. Second machine was a i7 3770 7010. Much better results with this machine. 16x slot where it should be and plenty of air flow to keep the gpu cool. Just a heads up for any one looking to do this
please i wanna have advise about what card i can buy ot this dell optiplex 7010 sff

@@zey-rox6530 i have the DT (desktop) series 3rd gen intel, size up from the one in the video. Example all the front usbs and audio jacks are in a straight line of each other on the front of the case (picture here would be more helpful lol)..if thats the one you have, 1050ti low profile or a gtx 1650 like i have will work great. If your talking about the exact same one in this video. The big issue is heat when it comes to a "higher" performing video card. The problem really is the placement of the power supply with these cards. Iv seen mine in a sff reach close to 90 degrees Celsius with in 10 minutes and started throttling. In the other dell case i have 7010 DT i have zero issues with heat from this card because the case is 2 slots bigger.
@@Cookiesaurus-wx9iu yeah thx for the Time u took to awnser me .
I have sff case exactly thé same ar thé vidéo u recommend me to change the case than choose graphic Card or just take a 1650 low profile ?
Thx
@@zey-rox6530 i recommend if you can find a 7010 DT version go for it. Find a barebones one at 40 or 50 dollars your laughing, use your cpu and ram and ssd, if you do find one MAKE SURE you get the cpu cooler, as i do believe dell used blower types in all the ssf and a regular cooler that bolts down though the mother board and into the case on the dt model's. If not you can go with a cheap case BUT be warned there is some modifications needed to get the mother board to work, example i/o jumper bypass, front audio is lost unless you wanna cut and solder wires, power switch needs wiring (i have successfully done this) see the sff was designed to handle a gpu but something in the lines of a "dell Radeon 7570" like i have in my sff case. After my personal experience with the 1650 gtx in a sff case I vote against it. The other option you do have and i did do this for a while. Because it wasn't until the 4th gen (haswell cpu) , that dell changed the power supply plugs. So you can get a regular atx desktop power supply and run it externally.
