Could your Run Apex Legends on A Linux Destro? I have seen it. I wonder if you can run it on this bad boy. Since you had Fortnight install and running well. Namaste Dave Ross
I have a good amount of experience with these WX4100 cards. They are very similar to RX460. If you pair it with the right CPU you can expect something similar to steam deck running windows. It's not amazing, but many Indy titles, older games, and old console emulation run very well.
Just like RX-460, you could run games from PS4 era (2013-2020) with something like 1080p medium settings and expect around 40 FPS. Depends on the game, but these are results in games like Witcher 3 (before this new gen crap), Sekiro, Jedi Fallen Order, Dark Souls 3, GTA 5 etc ...
Once you realize how much better a deck runs in Linux, you realize how shitty windows is for gaming. The Steam deck in gaming mode is an actual beast, but in windows, not so much.
@@bananaman8693 The issue with the Deck AMD chipset in windows is it was specifically made for the deck in Linux. Windows was an afterthought instead of a "co-requisite". Hardware requires drivers and optimizations. The support for that platform in windows is next to zero besides the VERY basic "make the sound and display work" introductory patches. The steam deck on windows is an uphill battle. On the other hand, the WX4100 is perfectly happy in windows and has EVEN seen updates for GAMING related drivers and AMD Adrenaline even though it is a "workstation" card. So the WX4100 may have similar power to the graphics of the deck (be it older architecture and more power hungry), but it actually has optimizations in windows.

You guys should do a video on the best budget low profile gpus. I think it would make for a great video to help people figure out which lp gpu is best for them!
With a AMD card, you could use the PC as a Linux gaming PC. Essentially running the PC using the Steam Deck's OS. Worth a look :) Or a similar card in the Nvidia range would be a K1200. They are sometimes dirt cheap and 4gb

I recently slapped together a Lenovo ThinkCentre M83 SFF (which came with 8x2gb RAM, there’s plenty of them like this) and an RX 550 4gb for just under $100. You can replicate this build at the same price easily. I recommend that over this one even though this is really cool too I have two other systems with a 5900/3060 and a 12100/1070 that I use for modern games so I can’t say too much about how those will perform here… But everything I’ve downloaded from 2017 and below has ran wonderfully on the ole RX 550 system, even Skyrim with mods lol There’s also a practical reason to get a cheap system like this with older hardware besides budget- a lot of older games simply run better on older parts (I’m not an expert so idk why). GTA IV is a great example. My 3060 system runs it like dog shit but the 550 is smooth as hell. This is partially due to NVIDIA driver problems but newer AMD GPUs also suffer for whatever reason. Only thing is that you’ll either need to get creative with cooling or leave the side panel off during gaming. GPU regularly gets up to 80C under 100% load with side panel on because it’s a shitty blower style fan and the case is suffocated Edit- emulation up to PS2 runs beautifully as well. PS3 is hit or miss for me
GTA V does indeed run great on old hardware. It IS an older game and provides for extensive customizing. You can really turn off graphics and drop to 720p and the game still runs great and is just as much fun.

These videos are always fun, just to show how people can get gaming for cheap.. that's a great topic for a video. I have asked before, and I will ask again.. the only one thing I would really like to see is for you guys to just explain to viewers that these PC's often come with proprietary components that can not be upgraded or replaced down the road. Yes, it's a great deal to get a 'gaming computer' for under $200, but anyone considering this should be well aware that as soon as your power supply or motherboard goes, you will basically be pulling out your GPU, RAM and CPU and then throwing the rest of it in the trash.
Did something similar to another small form factor Dell. I installed a GTX 1650, 16gb ram and a 1tb SSD drive. Also upgraded to PSU on it also to handle the extra demand. Even though technically you aren't supposed to be able to run VR games with this set up I haven't had any issues at all running HALF Life Alex in low to med settings and it still looks spectacular.
I actually found this graphics card about a year ago while searching for the cheapest decent upgrade to give to a free 3020 SFF I found in the dump. the problem with the workstation cards on amd's side is they tend to be more expensive than consumer grade cards at the same performance. RX460 4gb versions is basically the same thing but usually found ~$10 cheaper
I'm using this card ($38 on eB@y) on an older Optiplex 790 (free). Loading it up with a 4-core i7($24), SSD($20), and 32GB RAM($16)....just for $h!ts & giggles! I'll report back😂
Those numbers with the GPU in Val could well be correct. I've seen someone get 150-180 fps in Val with the integrated graphics on like a 12th gen i5/i7 or something. Very CPU-based game from my experience too. Upgrading from a 3600 to a 5700x gave me WAY more fps increase in this game than I got from upgrading my 2060S to a 4070 more recently. The generalised "spend half your budget on the GPU" advice that some people give out is sometimes misleading. For someone wanting to play Val or CS at 1080p competitive settings, you really want to spend about as much money on your CPU as your GPU almost.
@@freedomearthmoon1 Yeah I would basically recommend anyone wanting a PC to just build it themselves from mainly new parts (maybe 2nd hand GPU). There's so many tutorials on how to build a PC now. New gen i5s or AM4 Ryzen 5 are so affordable now. RAM has come down loads. SSDs are dirt cheap. There's some great budget cases. You can get an RX580 or some 16series card 2nd hand. For a couple hundred more you can actually build yourself a CURRENT gen, Win11 capable PC that can handle 1080p gaming fairly decently.

1050 TI LP is about 105-150 while the wx 4100 is 50-70. You could get a brand new 6400 that mops the floor with it for the same price as a used 1050 TI LP
@@Droogie128 There's a performance penalty, but even on PCIe 3.0 it's 19% faster than a 1050 TI at 1080p (Techspot 6400 review). And if you ever go PCIe 4.0, it'll jump to nearly 50% faster. Also it's brand new instead of used for 6 years, more likely to receive driver updates and optimization in the future, and has more performance runway on PCIE 4.0. For all those reasons resale value will be considerably better in the long run.
I've got a slim dell optiplex with i5-2500 and 16gb of memory, and was debating on trying out other low profile cards since I'm hoping to move on from GT 1030 and pc unit all I'm using it for is light gaming or emulation. I've might look into giving one of those cards a try. Awesome content.
Good card, but not for an older sandy bridge optiplex. Sometimes they don’t like the bios and won’t work without tweaking, or just not work. Then there is the bandwidth limitation. One of these WX4100 is basically the magic card for those SFF Dells, other than one or 2 single slot 1650 models which are basically unobtainable.

on ebay i found a dvd slot to sata ssd bracket for $3 that worked in my sff dell. it was intended for a laptop and it came with a front plate for the dvd slot so it all looks good. i was able to retain the 3.5 hdd slot and found a 4tb hdd for $15. other specs are a 3rd gen xeon and low profile rx 6400 with 16gb of ddr3. im waiting on the 4060 low profile cards and am thinking about upgrading all of the fans for quiter operation. i quite like the charm of optiplexes and would rather convert this case than buy one
3rd or 4th gen xeon would run circles around that 6500 in terms of 1% lows. there is no need to go past 3rd or 4th gen when the older i7s are better than more modern i5s.
The 6th gen i5 6500 will mop the floor with a 3rd or 4th gen xeon, what do you mean? Unless you have the hyperthreaded xeon, than no shit, those are basically just i7's, they're equivalent to a 3770/4770. This i5 supports DDR4, the xeons do not. The 1% are bad because they're using 8gb of ram (they literally said that in the video if you listened) and it's probably only single channel. The i5 6500 paired with dual channel 2133mhz will outpace the older xeons in every game. At least the 4 core non hyperthreaded ones.
I just did a video on the 710, its amazing what you can get away with if you just want to play the typical esports games, this is honestly not a bad deal all things considered
Not better, it has half the vRam of the WX 4100 has as well as less steam processors. Your better off getting the wx 4100. If you want to spend a little more on a card of the same form factor but is actually utilized for gaming, I recommend the Rx 6400 low profile.
@@christophermartin7364 Rx 6400 is usually $100+ In canada while the quadro p620 is $60 and the WX 4100 is $80 so for the price quadro p620 is better and it's newer I think. Even with less Vram it performs very good if you compare it in tests.

Thank you for the reply. I just go through the pain of the fresh installs every time also. Again thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I'm a huge fan. Could you guys possibly make a video of setting up a plex server in a dell optiplex system. I have several Dell optiplex systems lying around that work pretty good. @@ToastyBros
Can you please add the 16 gigs of ram and do another video with it
the problem with the workstation cards on amd's side is they tend to be more expensive than consumer grade cards at the same performance. RX460 4gb versions is basically the same thing but usually found ~$10 cheaper
I just wanna play ATS(American truck simulator) is gaming pc good for that?
I'm using this card ($38 on eB@y) on an older Optiplex 790 (free). Loading it up with a 4-core i7($24), SSD($20), and 32GB RAM($16)....just for $h!ts & giggles! I'll report back😂
Its been 2 months, any updates?
Crickets.....
I enjoy these videos and this channel. They are a good source of comedy
wow. when i bought my wx 4100, a year ago, it was well over $100 cad
Love The low budget office gaming PCs
Would this play Madden 23?
way to go exposing my lock down hussle haha! i was buying work stations and sticking wx 3100 and wx 4100's in and making decent profit
But will it play Starfield?
got a msi 1650 lp for 60 bucks and put it in a optiplex 7020 sff with a i7-4790 and i can run almost anything at 60fps high sometime ultra thanks for the instperation to start building
Thanks for letting me know my plan will work. Best comment here 😂
*I used a Quadro M2000 that I got for £30 & slapped it in a HP 290 G1 i5 7500 12GB 256GB for £70, so £100 altogether, decent budget build.*
Opening line... GPU you haven't heard of... GPU... I have one of those sitting right next to me... it is the most powerful MacOS compatible single slot low profile GPU that exists.

“We have a graphics card that you have never heard of” Me using a WX 5100 In a Optiplex 7020
I have a question and excuse me, but could you tell me how much the real consumption of the WX 5100 is? What if by chance the one you have is the 8 GB version?
@@fernandosanchez6278 yes I have the 8 gb version and the Wx 5100 only uses the standard 75W power from the pcie lane so it doesn't need any external power for it
@@fernandosanchez6278 Just did some research if you save up a little bit more money for the WX 7100 you will get the performance of a gtx 1650 but you will need a 6 pin power adapter because it uses 130W instead of 75
@@havok_sadreaper5117 Thank you very much!
@@havok_sadreaper5117 And this is just out of curiosity, do you know the watt consumption of the wx 7100?
I got an RTX 3080 for $200 and an i7 8700k for $20. I bought a motherboard for $70 and a power supply for $35. Ended up finding a case for $40 because i wanted a specific one. Bought a 1tb nvme ssd for $40. Ended up being a pretty good system for under 500. Also found a 49" samsung ultra wide (its the older 3840x1080 @ 144hz) for $220.
3080 for 200? Nice.
@@LatitudeSky yea, it's a dell model but works great!
where id you find an i7 for 20 dollars?
Rtx 3080 for 200 probably mining
What about doing a budget video editing rig? 👀
thank you guys so much i got my son optiplex pc and with a core i7 and then bought him a 1660 super and he was so happy he was crying
I have my older optiplex 7020 which I got months ago. I upgraded the ssd which I used the older ssd that came with mine to install windows 7 while the new ssd has windows 11 on it. And emulation on it as well as gaming is great with the nvidia geforce 1030 gtx gpu, Intel core i5 cpu. And upgraded 16gb of ram. I'm still working on some upgrades and looks. It's something I've been wanting to do for a long time for retro gaming.
do you guys use capture cards to bench or do you actually record
do you need to build the pc when you buy it?
$498 on new egg.....$229 on Amazon .................$49.50 on ebay......WT Actual F
That’s ebay for yah
Would setting a page file on an ssd help with ram requirements on this build? genuinely curious
You don’t have 3.5” to 2.5” adapters on hand?
Another good vid by the bros
Can you test some of these PCs with State of Decay 2 or Division 2 I'm ready to upgrade my console but I feel a PC would be a more cost effective way because you always upgrade a PC instead of buying a brand console. Thank you for your viseos
Is there a way to make this thing run cooler? Philippines is a hot place and I'm not runny AC all the time.
omg AliExpress sponsor W
And is full compatible with macOS Ventura out of the box if you try to build a Hackintosh 100%
Thank you for not using the sata cable as a converted power supply for a graphics card with a 6 or 8 pin
I think a 1050 ti would do better than the wx4100. And its probably cheaper too.
Great point. It’s far superior, actually.
Can you get a 1050ti single slot?
1050 TI LP is about 105-150 while the wx 4100 is 50-70.
You could get a brand new 6400 that mops the floor with it for the same price as a used 1050 TI LP
@@shanez1215 the 6400 only runs good on pcie 4. It's a massive loss running on pcie3
I have the same processer and gpu but I only get around 60 fps with the same settings, is there anything I could be doing wrong?
I've got a slim dell optiplex with i5-2500 and 16gb of memory, and was debating on trying out other low profile cards since I'm hoping to move on from GT 1030 and pc unit all I'm using it for is light gaming or emulation. I've might look into giving one of those cards a try. Awesome content.
RX 6400 Is good too
@@valentinberrelleza yep after seeing too many videos been on the look out for RX 6400. Some people just like to scalp it these days.
Always interesting, bang 4 the buck. Thanks
My XFX RX 6400 died on me after a year, it was inside a sff optiplex 7060.
Was it running hot during that year? Usually that’s the biggest killer for GPUs in these OEM systems bc airflow is poopoo
Won't that sata power cable eventually destroy the ssd? Aren't some of the 15 pins 12v?
Bro really got alliexpress
Can you guys please review the 2023 Gateway laptop from Walmart? It's really cheap right now at $334.54 and seems a little too good for the specs. Gateway 14.1" Ultra Slim Notebook, FHD Touchscreen, Intel Core i5-1235U, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Fingerprint Scanner, Tuned by THX Audio, 2MP Camera, HDMI, Windows 11, Black
on ebay i found a dvd slot to sata ssd bracket for $3 that worked in my sff dell. it was intended for a laptop and it came with a front plate for the dvd slot so it all looks good. i was able to retain the 3.5 hdd slot and found a 4tb hdd for $15. other specs are a 3rd gen xeon and low profile rx 6400 with 16gb of ddr3. im waiting on the 4060 low profile cards and am thinking about upgrading all of the fans for quiter operation. i quite like the charm of optiplexes and would rather convert this case than buy one
i got the optiplex for $20 and the 6400 for $80
3rd or 4th gen xeon would run circles around that 6500 in terms of 1% lows. there is no need to go past 3rd or 4th gen when the older i7s are better than more modern i5s.
You should get a Dell Optiplex Tower for a Bigger GPU
i have a GTX 950 and a I5-7500 Is my cpu getting bottlenecked?
lenovo has some good alternative pcs available on ebay
I just did a video on the 710, its amazing what you can get away with if you just want to play the typical esports games, this is honestly not a bad deal all things considered
How did you get msi afterburner to run on valorant??
My nitpicking ass is wondering why you didn't buy the SSD caddy for the build
I would go with the p620 it's another lp card that works as good or even a little better for like half the price!!
Can these run editing software?
can i ask i question once i reach my budget i have no idea what to do and dont have much places to trust i trust u guys so is there a way for me once i reach my budget to ask you for ur help

9.99 on the cheap for Amazon for a Mine DP to DP adapter
Please compare this to iGPUs!
4:55 that’s a knock off 3m tape from eBay 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Fortnite looks like it is stuttering but yeah for $169 you don't expect much. I will say though if a person is just gaming they'd be better off looking at getting a used console for that kind of money.
Amazon sells a ORICO 2.5 SSD SATA to 3.5 Hard Drive Adapter for less than $8. They work great and if you have a 3.5 bay, problem solved.
They were trying to keep the cost at $169 . Hence why they didn’t update to 16gb . Plus two sided tape works fine for ssd’s when applied correctly.
@@maggothawk, you do know that I wasn't telling them how to build a computer. I was adding a suggestion for the viewer. ...or maybe you don't....
tbh not sure why i keep watching these knowing systems like these are 600€ or more

can u try and test the game rust on your next vid
Is 32g ram ddr4 good for gaming?
More than enough for most titles, it depends
I had the same optiplex 16 gigs ram same cpu paired with a 5700xt i had great results i played fortnite on ultra non performance mode i hit max 400 fps it could’ve been the 6700 cpu variant i don’t recall but i got the pc for free and got my 5700xt for 170$
You got crazy lucky.
you should try rx 580 non 2048 sp
Theres a setting to disable cosmetic streaming
For fortnite in the epic games launcher might help
I have been using that card for like 2 years in my deloptiplex I did burn the card for playing too intense games so now the card is just bad
The Nvidia Quadro k620 is another low profile card that works well in the sff PCs.
K620 is 2gb - DDR3. The K1200 is the 4gb model
@@dgorry yep. That's what I meant
How could it be? It doesn't suck to be beaten at every game?!
Can anyone help so basically I play games at 240 frames but it’s not smooth at all it doesn’t drop at all but it isn’t smooth I change the refresh to the max didn’t change anything
If it was 100 bucks cheaper it would be nice.
If it was free.. Even better lol
