  • It has been a difficult season to say the least. An early season archery doe put some meat in the freezer. Then after several near misses with mature bucks I settled for a 6-point that wouldn't move on my way into a tree stand. Finally on the last day of gun season I spotted a doe and stalked her on my hands and knees in the rain for 25 minutes.

Congrats. That was like watching a military sniper movie. You are hard core. Not sure I would have crawled on my belly like that. Chances are I wouldn't have gone out in the rain lol

We screwed up wild ecosystems in this world when we removed apex predators because we thought we were the most important species on this Earth. Now, as hunters we can do our part to manage wildlife populations. It’s not just about shooting the biggest buck. It’s doing your part to manage the entire population to keep herds healthy for future generations.

Good stuff brother. Here in Michigan our two buck tag has seriously harmed the herds. Taking a doe is a healthy practice for the ecosystem, wish more people thought like you. Educating the hunters is the first step in making things better for all of us.

TY I have been teaching a High School course called North American Wildlife for 29 years. I worked briefly as a forester in White Cloud Michigan before deciding to teach. I try to educate my students the best I can about how to fix our mistakes, conserve and manage our wild populations. And I love to connect with my hands on kids and share my passion for hunting and the outdoors.
