    Great videos. I mounted a deer last year after watching your video's. I used an engine stand to hold the form. Was on wheels and could spin the form upside down

      This one is homemade and was given to me as a gift. I’ve never seen one for sale with more than 4 receivers

    Hello Daniel, love all your videos 🙏 thank you for sharing. I was heavily involved in taxidermy when I was younger. Now I’m 66. I got a WT doe last year and she’s in a pickle. I had to remove her head from the mouth because it was too large for the neck removal. Now I’m concerned on how to mount a shoulder mount. I’ve never done this before. She had a beautiful long neck. I thought it would be a beautiful Mount and maybe when I get a buck I can put them close together. How would you go about this if you would share? Thanks Dave

      I always just make a small incision on the back of the head to fit it over the form similar to mounting a buck, but cut as little as possible

    Hey Daniel, Great video. You do make it sound easy. I just wish I could get out one more time and bag another buck. With my back so bad it be hard for me to walk around like I use to. After watching so many of your videos, I would love to try and mount it myself. Love your channel and all your videos. Take care and be safe.

    I finished my 3rd deer today. Just guessing I’m about 3k into tools and supplies. I do have a van dyke fleshed which was costly. When I need advise I do watch a great deal of your videos. I’ve learned on my past 3 deer, there is no 2 taxidermist that does anything the same. Thank you!!

    Do you ever save and reuse your pickles?

    • @thecedarridgechronicles
      @thecedarridgechronicles  2 місяці тому

      I do twice. I use a 75 gallon pickle and will do 15 hides at a time for 2 batches. After that I’ll clean my tub and start over.

      @@thecedarridgechronicles Since reusing the pickle... Do you neutralize in a separate container?

    • @thecedarridgechronicles
      @thecedarridgechronicles  2 місяці тому +1

      @@Ealum1013 yes I do. I usually neutralize 2 capes at a time, tan, mount, then do 2 more until it’s time for the next 15

    Also sir one more question I’ve only ever used dry preserve but recently bought everything to do the pickling method I know you haven’t used DP but in your opinion does the pickling have less pulling away while drying the only issue I have is with my lip line they want to pull out even tho I cut a tight line have to keep tucking lips for several days or is this just normal with anything you use? Sorry so long

    • @thecedarridgechronicles
      @thecedarridgechronicles  3 місяці тому

      Dry preservatives cause an extreme amount of shrinkage compared to tanning. A tanned hide that is not properly thinned will shrink more than a really thin cape, but not near as much and certainly not as quickly, giving the hide paste time to do its job.

    Hey brother I’ve been using oil base for all my painting with artist brush so far just bought airbrush set up and gonna get the paints off your site but you was saying you needed to seal the water base paints but couldn’t find what you said to seal it with on there? May be looking in the wrong spot
