Hide Your Trail Cameras - SIMPLE FIX - Use Camo Duct Tape
Hide Your Trail Cameras using Camo Duct Tape. Some trail cameras only camouflage the front of the camera and leave the sides black. On order to reduce deer and humans seeing your trail cameras you can use camo duct tape to wrap the black sides of the trail cameras. Watch the video to see my simple fix for this.

Post Rut Two Deer Down Hunting the FARM 2023 - Part C

Things always slow down on the Farm after the Rut. As usual I saw a million doe. I did manage to see a few bucks and even stalk a buck and a doe to wrap up the season on the FARM. Another year done, more stories and tons of fun with he boys.

October on the farm was exciting, seeing plenty of deer but only a few decent bucks. The second week of November the rut kicks in full swing and I encounter 4 nice bucks in 3 hunts. This time of the year is so exciting and it offers more than enough opportunities.

Deer Hunting the FARM 2023 - Part A PreRut

I have been hunting the Farm in upstate NY with my buddies Steve and Brian for 30 years. It is so much different than the Public land hunting that I do. We have preset stands, food plots and water tanks. A local farmer plants wheat, hay or corn on about 1/2 of the property each summer. The changing food sources constantly change how deer move on the property. I have several nice bucks on camera...
Muzzleloader Deer Drives - 2 Deer Down
Переглядів 402Місяць тому
As season wraps up a bunch of us boys decide to do some deer drives. We grabbed our muzzleloaders and hit a few private lands close to home. In 2 drives we shoot 2 deer and they both ran towards the truck. Bonus!!! Easy drags and meat in the freezer.
Spot and Stalk a Doe in the RAIN
Переглядів 269Місяць тому
It has been a difficult season to say the least. An early season archery doe put some meat in the freezer. Then after several near misses with mature bucks I settled for a 6-point that wouldn't move on my way into a tree stand. Finally on the last day of gun season I spotted a doe and stalked her on my hands and knees in the rain for 25 minutes.

Now going on our third year Lee and I are still looking for out first PA Public land deer. I had an opportunity that I screwed up, accidentally launching an arrow as I was trying to let down and turn on a camera. Sometimes you just need to suck it up and accept your mistakes and move on. No matter, we keep at it and learn more and more with each new hunting experience.
6 Minute Hunt - Buck Down
Переглядів 8962 місяці тому
After a long season I finally get a buck on the ground. Expecting to only shoot a doe on a super windy day, a buck would not move out of the way walking to my stand. I gave him plenty of time to move but he wouldn't budge. Within 6 minutes of walking away from my truck this buck was on the ground. Sweet!!!

It’s a tough place to sit. Does are always there and even though there is close bedding I only see big bucks at night or during the rut. It’s a wide line of trees in the middle of 2 ag. fields and bucks don’t like to be there during the day. I thought it would transition bucks all day during the rut but buck movement is really unpredictable there. Still, I have seen some good bucks there. Just haven’t connected YET!

We screwed up wild ecosystems in this world when we removed apex predators because we thought we were the most important species on this Earth. It’s doing your part to manage the entire population to keep herds healthy for future generations.

In 30+ years of deer hunting I have never had a buck over 3.5 years old within archery range. I am totally confident in my shot under 20 yards. Even though I have studied a frontal shot for years I have never taken one. I had zero clue how fast a mature, wise old buck could react. Since this event I have purchased a newer, faster bow. I would not shoot at an alert buck facing me again and even if I decided to take a frontal shot it would need to be at much closer range. No doubt I learned from this experience like I do every time in the woods. It is easy to post something when it all works as expected. It is humbling to post something that you know will be criticized and also know you would make different choices in the future. I am an average hunter and I post honest hunting stories. The good and the bad. I appreciate your honest opinion and hope that you have a great day!

@@whitetailsdeerhunting7159 I have been hunting with the bow for 35 years and have taken over 60 deer with the bow. It's a low percentage shot. I said the exact same thing to another hunter Bout 10 years ago. He tried that shot a second time, the deernput his head down and shot him right between the antlers never recovering the buck. A whitetail can drop its body with and had the ability to avoid an arrow traveling 315 fps at 15 yards away. Not everyone will but they have the ability. I have never had the urgency to take a shot like that since I have started hunting and have experienced alot of success with deer 3.5 years old and older. If you take that shot with consistency or long range shots in states with high pressure you're gonna end up wounding animals. Bottom line. I have a 3" group at 70 yards and won't take that shot. Like I said it's a shot that came from bad judgement. You're not gonna convince me otherwise

If I had attempted to take this shot or one similar to it a second time I would accept your comment the shot came from bad judgment. I love to learn from others like yourself knowledgeable about hunting and I do accept constructive criticism. Listening to others and not repeating mistakes helps me to become a more ethical hunter. I do respect the animals I hunt and I do not kill for fun! You are entitled to your opinion but there are some in the hunting profession that are more competent than myself and do believe the frontal shot can be effective in the right situation. I owned this and I hope people respect that. Typing in these messages, texts and emails sucks! I would much prefer sitting down with people like yourself to share a beer and have an honest conversation about experiences, stories and beliefs. I am sure the passion we both share with this sport and the animals we chase would provide great conversation and plenty of learning. hope you have a great day. Your honesty hits home and it is appreciated! 🙂 @@sunflower739375

@@whitetailsdeerhunting7159 I am in Western NY in the southtowns. Anytime you want and I have the time I would be more than happy to. When I was younger I became a pretty good shot with the bow. That brought some cockiness out but now for me when you are gonna harvest an animal cockiness has no place. Speaking about myself. Confidence yes. I wounded an animal that I was fortunate enough to recover the following day because of it. It wasn't a frontal shot but I did have to squeeze that arrow in a tight spot. With the frontal shot if it's quartering towards you it's better than straight on. I would take that shot as a follow up shot if I had to but not a kill shot. I taught my kids to be patient. There will be another deer in front of you soon enough. Have confidence in your ability to get them there . Practice practice practice is what my dad always told me. Practice with proper form is key. Also letn the anatomy of the deer. What side is the liver on in a quartering away shot or slightly quartering towards you. If you take a chance and expect to hit it, it's only on one side of the animal. Ya have to know what side it's on and understand what you bare hitting depending on the position of the deers legs. Are they forward or back. There are 3 legs to the hunt. Preparation, the hunt itself and the recovery. The more you are prepared the easier the hunt and recovery become. Good luck aim small miss small

I am close. Just south of Seneca and Keuka lake. I appreciate the advice a ton. I feel like the more I learn about hunting the less I actually know. It’s never ending what you can learn about equipment, deer behavior, other hunters, etc.
