The price of Alchohol isn't any more expensive than her in Edinburgh. some bars in the city are about £6 pint and a 275ml glass of wine can be as much as £9 or more. 8 years ago we went to a bar on the royal mile and it was £68 for 6 drinks, 3 cokes, 2 Glasses of wine (£38!!!) and 2 cocktails. We went to Patricks pub and were shocked that there were armed guards at the entrance, even although it was inside a cinema complex where everyone was searched at the entrance. but what was more surprising was the numbers of people smoking weed, even inside the pub! We were there with some police friends and a very blind eye was turned to say the least.

I came across this stuff once, it was the official drink of Israel, it was brutal. I wish I could remember the name of it, it was a real hard brandy with a white and blue label.

Israeli immigrants are probably the only immigrants I've met in ireland who dont complain about the cost of living. I worked with a man from Tel aviv who sold his house there and still had a lot left over after he bought a house in Maynooth. The fact so many people move and have kids in israel shows how much of a draw it gas, because i couldnt imagine tolerating a more expensive place than Ireland!

6 years ago when i first went to Israel, there was a thing called “bracelet bars”, where by you pay a set fee and you were given a coloured bracelet that entitled you to unlimited alcohol. The lowest price bracelet was for beer only and then more expensive bracelets entitled you to beer & spirits. Mind service slowed down considerably if they taught you were doing the dog on it which i obviously was! Is that still a thing as Happy Hour seems to be the thing now on my last two trips in the past 18 months

There's still a couple of them about. I haven't gone but would be right up there with you milking it for what it's worth 😂
