Yes Stephanie it is very sad. I am a broadcast engineer working in Canada. I have literally worked with hundreds of entertainers all over the world. I have worked with KD Lang several times on CBC-TV specials and award shows. She has always blown my mind. The solo you are probably referring to is one I was apart of in March 1989 on the Juno Awards. I was over the moon in November 1988 when I heard Roy Orbison and KD Lang were going to do their duo "Crying" live on the the Juno Awards. It would have been a highlight for me. When I got the sad news on December 6, 1988 it made me sick and tore at my heart. Can you imagine I would have been standing literally a few feet from them singing this piece at rehearsal. I am so glad to hear that there is someone who also agrees with me. I was standing beside KD Lang just to one side of her when she rehearsed the solo you spoke of.
kd was a big fan of Roys. She did this song in a televised tribute to Roy in Feb 1990. She sang this song so well and with so much emotion she received a 5.min standing ovation. You could Google it if you get a chance. Purely Awesome!

Her range, power and pitch are nothing short of spectacular. This song and Hallelujah are my favorites so far. Also the KD Lang Sexuality video - I might be in love😉 I have been checking out a few interviews from past years. At first there was a combination of cheekiness and shyness but as she matured she has become more sure of herself while mischievous at the same time A fascinating personality!
As a boy, I saw k.d. 's name in magazine adverts - cut it out, check the albums you want, and some cash (or opt for Bill Me Later), and you get some records. My Dad amassed a massive collection that way, and it served as a gateway to artists I still listen to, bless his memory. Apart from that, I drifted away, got into other music... even forgot about lang. But you're saying she - I'm just discovering she's a woman and not a guy 😅 - is still worth my time. Very well. Time to put this site to use, and catch up on some older music. Thank you!
