Myles Kennedy...just an absolute master ...a classically trained Rock singer...He is trained in Bel canto ( An Italian opera technique ig)...He is 54 years old and he sounds better than ever
AlterBridge is simply a stellar melodic hard rock / alternative metal band! Myles Kennedy has a legit 4 octave vocal range with beautiful timbre and tone in his lows and incredible breath control and sustain in his highs! He plays a great classic rock style guitar too - in the mold of David Gilmour…While lead guitarist Mark Tremonti is a shredder , but also has a beautiful finger picking style he often uses too. He has a nice baritone voice to complement Myles’ tenor in harmonies!There are too many great songs by this band to mention - but ‘Blackbird’ studio version or Live is a must (studio shows off a 30 plus seconds vocal line near the end without taking a breath), ‘watch over you’ live acoustic at Billboard, and as mentioned ‘words darker than their wings’ live at the royal albert hall (actually anything from that concert is great - watch the whole thing if you get a chance!), are a nice little cross section of what they can do and show off some of Myles’ singing. There’s Dozens of other equally great songs and performances by them if you go down the rabbit hole! Best band of last 20 years, easily!

You need to listen to the Billboard acoustic version of "Watch Over You." It's just Myles and he is amazing. Their song "Calm the Fire" from their album Fortress will really show Myles Kennedy's range. Just amazing. His solo albums are great, too.
Many suggestions here for Words Darker Than Their Wings live from Royal Albert Hall. That is a MUST! But they have SOOOOO many great songs, you just can't go wrong. Any version of Blackbird, Broken Wings, Brand New Start, Before Tomorrow Comes. Really anything by them won't disappoint. From this album (Pawns and Kings), Fable Of The Silent Sun is awesome!

As a hardcore AB fan I'm happy to see people react to this awesome band (which is so underrated and under-recognised). It's so interesting to see actual musicians/pros react to them because they apreciate the skills of Myles and the others guys even more and can add so much interestng information about why AB is a band of brilliant musicians. This is the title track from their latest album, #7. You have stumbled upon the greatest secret in rock and now you should go down that rabbit hole that is Alter Bridge. I saw them last April 1st for the 1st time and am I glad I did, because they are awesome live. They did this song and I've got it recorded on my phone for posterity. Myles Kennedy also sings for Slash and The Conspirators as well as his solo stuff. Mark Tremonti the other guitarist has his solo band called Tremonti, go figure. He also last year did an album for charity called Tremonti Sings Sinatra and he absolutely kills it. He then released a Christmas album of standards plus one that he wrote and released a claymation video for Christmas of that song, Christmas Morning. You will find that it's hard to find a bad song from Alter Bridge. They started out as Creed then kicked out Scott Stapp an reformed as Alter Bridge with Myles as lead singer and 2nd guitar. They finished their Pawns and Kings tour and now Myles is with Slash and Creed is gonna do a tour. Then Mark will be doing his 6th album. And after all that we expect another Alter Bridge album. Hopefully late next year.

Alter Bridge is simply the best rock band of the 21st century. Stellar musicianship, songwriting, and thoughtful lyrics. I love this band. “Words Darker than their Wings,” “Blackbird,” they have so many epic musical masterpiece journeys in over their 20 year career.
I've seen them live at the Cherokee Casino in NC. They were awesome!!! I have been a long time fan. My personal favorite is, "Blackbird"!!!! You should give it a listen!!! Love your analysis of this song by the way!!!!!
Lots of recommendations for Words Darker Than Their Wings live @RAH and rightfully so but for some other songs Breath Again for some more high notes and Waters Rising for a nice back and forth with Mark and Myles and lastly Cry of Achilles. There are so many more so don’t stop there. Great input on your part as well!
Alter Bridge has been my favorite band since 2004. In fact, they are one of the best live bands I've ever seen. You should check out "words darker than their wings" live from the Royal Albert hall. They are backed up by The parallax orchestra and it's utterly amazing. Actually, the whole concert was a masterpiece.

Have you heard the song "Summer Girl" by his previous band The Mayfield Four? The ending of that is absolutely nuts vocally. I love Myles, and that's the most-impressive vocal display from him (as far as vocal range goes) that I've heard.
