300 Norma Mag needs to be next in the spotlight for everything.
I’ll second that! 300NM loads dev.
I have some staball and will be testing this weekend
Would love to see some 30 Nosler performance results.
220gr Bergers, 84.6gr 2975fps, 27" barrel AI AXSR. I went as high as 85gr with no pressure signs, but there was a wide node of .4 with same speed and loss of speed. Need to go up to 86gr or until pressure to see how it goes. I can get 2990fps out of H1000, 81.5gr with the same gun.
300 RUM data with this powder tested would be nice!
I have gotten great results with Staball HD in my 338 Lapua Magnum. It's pushing a Barnes 280 gr. LRX right around 2700 fps. Im getting phenomenal consistency in my loads as well. I am very pleased with the powder.
Thanks for info
I would want it for 300wsm.
I would love to see some load data for 300 RUM. I’ve picked up reloading primarily for the scarcity of the cartridge. I want to see what options I have when reloading.
It took me a while to 'warm up' to the staball powders, but after finding the sweet spots for what I shoot, staball match and staball 6.5 are two of my favorite powders.
You should do some work with a 6.8 western. With this powder and just some work in general.
Love to see you work up a load for 375 Ruger
am i the only one who likes to see that powder close up? its so interesting to see that
I would love to see you do some work with the 6.8 Western. Staball HD looks to be very good in that round and any powder a 7mm RM or PRC would use should work well.
Agreed let's see some 6.8 western data
Thanks for the evaluation on the new powder, now I know what it is about.
It would be neat to do a statistical study of charge weight variation out of a powder thrower comparing StaBall HD Magnun to Retumbo or H1000 using magnum weight charges. We always hear spherical powder meters more uniformly, could you quantify the difference with a meaningful number of samples?
Have you ever compared all 4 types of 4350 rifle powder in a single cartridge, IMR4350, H4350, AAC4350 and SW4350?
Great video. I would like to see you do some load development with this powder for 7 rem mag using 175 grain high bc bullets. Maybe even the 270 with 165 grain high bc bullets. Thanks for sharing. See you next time.
I did a ladder test with 143 ELD-x bullets in my 6.5 PRC using staball HD. Even with a 26" barrel I was running ~200 fps slow at max charge per the website. No pressure signs, so I'm going to keep creeping up slowly. Great SD numbers though.
Can’t wait to get my hands on this powder! The 300 PRC is waiting
I bet it would give great velocities in something like 25-06. I know that’s not a magnum but it really shines with magnum powders
Would be nice to see brass life on reloadings between the belted 300 win mag vs. 300 prc
My .264 Win Mag might love this powder. Can’t wait to see if someone will develop loads for this screaming 6.5.
Lets see some side by side comparison with Retumbo in the same rifle and same bullet. Same seating depths. With a few different powder charges. Lets see what produces best groups, SD's, and velocity. maybe do it with all 3 PRC cartridges. Running low on Retumbo and I'm thinking about grabbing some of the HD
I like your ideas.
Good to know. I am planning to get a 6.5 PRC in the not too distant future. I will probably mostly shoot targets out to 500 or 600 yards to improve my skills, but i like the versatility and trajectory of the PRC, based on my research (just in case i want to hunt elk, or prongorn, which are sometimes longish distance). No real interest in Creedmoor, although i wouldn't mind a 6.5x55......
This would be nice to use in my 257 Weatherby. Trying Ramshot Magnum as of right now
Would love to see some 300 Weatherby loads done up with these new magnum powders!
Can't wait to see how temp sensitive it is
Load some .338 LM. or some .375 Cheytac😊
I’ve had a chance to test the StaBall HD in my 6.5 PRC. My rifle is a SAKO S20 Hunter with 1 in 8 twist. If you are looking for top velocity (and I realize velocity is not everything) this powder is a little slow for 6.5 PRC with a 24” barrel. My load data is as follows: 6.5 PRC Lapua brass with shoulders bumped .002”; Federal 210M primers; 143 ELD-X loaded .017” off the lands; 61 grs of StaBall HD. My top velocity was 2,862 fps. Not bad; however I am getting 3,000+ fps with RL25 and VV N565. But, the StaBall HD powder meters very well in an electronic powder measure and has a low SD. Great powder; however you will not get top velocities with it in a 6.5 PRC with a 24” barrel. Hope this information is helpful.
Definitely 28 nosler and im liking the .30-06 that some others have mentioned
I'd love to see the velocities you can get with the 28" barrel and using this near max charge with the 190 A-Tips. I can see this being a good powder with the 7 prc for up to 2000-2200 yard ELR steel shooting and would love to see you test that out
Not finished with the video yet, obviously, but I think you should hook Guy up with this for his 25-06. That's what came to mind when I saw the burn rate.
I loaded and shot the StaBALL HD 7 PRC cartridges. This powder is a winner!
Im running a 22" barrel with my Seekins Element. Im loading 69.3 grains of H1000 and averaging 2920fps without any pressure signs with Hornady brass. My SD is 4 on my test loads. The worst group Ive shot is a .75 on the high end and .3 on the low. Im happy with the results, but that seems pretty fast with 175 ELD-X.
have you done any testing or builds on a 6.5-284 norma? i love mine. proven performer. shooting 140 gr berger hybrids at 2920 out of a 26" barrel. can go higher but why, my rifle shoots this into the high .100". would love to see you do a comparison between it and 6.5PRC.
Interesting video, looks like that powder will be pretty versatile. I'm just starting to reload and hopefully this isn't a silly question. With a container of powder that is unopened what is the best way to store it and how long will it stay fresh? Once I open a container of powder what is the best was to store it, do I need to put silica packs or oxygen packs in with the powder, and how long will an open container of powder stay fresh and usable?
It would be interesting to how it works in bigger calibers, like 33xc, 375ct and bigger!
Shooting the .338 Lapua Mag, would love to see a set up for this and how StaBALL works with this round.
If you're gonna go big... then go big! Try out HD in .338 Lapua Magnum.
Would be very interested how it works with the .338 win mag. Any chance of a video??
Would like to see a load with the Stabal HD for the 6.8 Western. I'm think of using 170gr. Berger VLD or 165gr. Accubond LR. The powder I use most often is H-1000 or H-4831sc for my 7mm Rem Mag and 270WSM.
Thank you for your great content.
300 weatherby berger 245gr elite hunter bullets or 300prc w 245gr elite hunter bullets. Thx love your content
Gavin do a side by side picture of all three of the StabALL Powders if you don't mind!
StaBall 6.5, StaBall Match, StaBall HD
Yes 6.5PRC \ 6.5SAUM testing please
What would you expect to gain by having a 24 inch barrel in the 7mm PRC vs the 22 inch?
Would like to see how it does in a 300 wby mag.
I would love to see load data for the WSM Calibers 270 to 325. Been using the Reloader and Enduron Powders, but both are hard if not impossible to find these days..
I am going to try it in my 7 ultra mag.
I would be very interested to see how this works with 6.8 Western loads.
The powder looks promising. Wondering how it would perform in my .264 Win Mag & .300 H&H.
I suspect that it will do quite well, but I haven't yet tried it in those cartridges. I loaded and shot the 7 PRC cartridges used in the video and it was impressive.
6.5 PRC Hornady line up of ELD-M & A-Tips .
How well would it work in 338 lapua?? Could be a fame changer.
Been using it in 6.5 prc
Wonder how it compares to Reloder 26 as far as velocity goes?
Oh please check out 8,5x55 Blaser 😊
This is my new hunting caliber. For now i'm going to load it with Normal 203B and Hornady CX 185gr bullets. Im still not sure about the powder to that caliber
I would like to know about loading for a popular and favorite cartridge , the 338 win. mag. What powder of today would be best recomended. Chris @ Elliot Lake Ont.
338 Lapua and 375 CheyTac
Wonder how it would work in a 300 RCM or 300 WSM?
270 WSM
Would like to see 300 weatherby in 212 eldx
I'm interested in seeing the efficacy of StaBALL HD in the 280 Ackley Improved with 168 and 175 gr bullets. Maybe too slow but a Mag primer is probably called for.
Works like a charm in 6.5/06 with 130g and heavier bullets boys.
I’d like to see some content or load data for .264 win mag with StaBall HD
Would like to see HD in the nosler line up 27 NOS especially
Just a side question, what elevation/temp are you testing at?
300 RUM with hornady 250gr A-Tips would be interesting
Any chance you can do 28 Nosler reloading and ballistics?
I would be really interested in some 338 rcm videos
Would love to see 6.8 Western loaded with StaBall HD.
Well done as always. Great overview. Very encouraging results. I am extremely interested in more 7 PRC testing especially with the longer barrel side by side with your awesome hunting rig. I am also interested in 7 Rem Mag tests if possible. I just finished a series of load development test with StaBall6.5 in my 7 RemMag with fantastic results in SD/ES, groups and velocity. This HD will likely replace Retumbo & H1000 for me on the highest end magnum loads.
How would this work in your 270 WBY? I am loading for one right now… that powder would seem good for the WBY mags
I'd very much like to see what that powder would do in a 338 Edge
I have a 300 wby load with the 212 eldx and 85.5 gr of magnum and I'm getting 3055 fps. I wonder if I could push faster with this? I do really like my current 300 wby load
Wonder how it performs for .338 LM
Wouldn't mind seeing how it does with the WSM family
I would like to see data for the 300 WSM for 180 grain bullets
It would be interesting to see how this performs out of some of the bottlenecked African cartridges, like 375H&Hmag, 9.3mm Mauser, 416Weatherby mag, etc. Specifically, l would like to see if it shows quite the same promise in them as in the smaller magnums.
I have found using the Big Game powder is far better than the H-414 I was using in my own 9.3x62 Mauser with Barns TSX 286 grain bullets.
These newer powders sound great, but I have what I need now in loaded 9.3x62 and with NO large rifle primers to be found now tinkering with new powders isn't an option because what primers I have are used only when needed.
Ginex primers seem to be the only large rifles primers, but they are sold online sites so add hazard shipping I paid $180 for 1000 of them.
How about in a 375 Ruger? I use H4350 but that is hard to come by at times
Id like to see it with 338 lapua. maybe 250s and 300s?
How well would the Staball Magnum powder perform in a .30-06 with the Hornady 208 ELD? I'm using a 98 Mauser action with a 26" barrel.
Would love to see what this does in 6.5-300 WBY
I'm thinking maybe it could be a bit too slow for some cartridges, judging by where it is on the chart. Have to wait and see what data comes out for it. Take another year or two.
300 RUM Please!!
Possibly 257 wby, if it would work. Currently using 7828.
No mention of accuracy compared to powders previously used for loads in this rifle.
How about .300 Weatherby Mag?
I would like to see this powder with the 7mm stw and a 175gr bullet.
Hi Gavin; i realize that "this" isn't technically a magnum, However; i would Really like to see just How Far you could push a 338Federal cartridge? I own a Savage Bear Hunter model 16 ss,fluted,22" muzzelbreak. Pretty standard i guess. But "Could" this platform Handel those loads??
A man after my own heart. Been interested in tbe 338 Federal for s few years. Don't know why, since i don't really hunt. But maybe it would motivate me. I would probably use 185's almost exclusively. Going to the other end of the continuum, i also want a 6.5 PRC, for the versatility and trajectory. No interest in the Creedmoor, but I wouldn't mind a 6.5x55, preferably a Tikka if not a 96 Mauser
I want to see it in 25-06!
340 Weatherby?
Nothing mentioned about accuracy of stable each Di got LRT with much greater speed but accuracy was poor compared to other powders.
300 RUM PLEASE
Can I use this in my 280 Ackley Improved? I cannot find RL26 and torn between the HD and 6.5 to push a 175 grain pill.
Curious how well it will work in 300 NM and 300 NM IMP…..
6mm CM with the heavier bullets?
How does this powder stack up against retumbo
I would like to see .338 win mag with 210 and 225 grain bullets.
6.8 Western with berger 170 eol!
I hear Retumbo will not be made for much longer. I would like to see how this does in the 300 RUM
Oh my goodness! Don't tell me that. My 25-06 loves Retumbo!
Havnt got to try none so hell with it…I’ve got several that work great
Haven’t seen it on shelves in years.
I believe ADI is still making it
whats your opinion on Ramshot Hunter powder ive had great success with it in my 6.5 creedmore
I've happily used Ramshot Hunter in both the 6mm Remington and the 30-06. It produces excellent velocity and accuracy in those two cartridges. I haven't tried it in the 6.5 Creedmoor yet, but the data sure looks good. It's a powder I rely on and have no reservations about.
@@guyminer2384 👍I also use it 30.06 and have had excellent accuracy with it even putting 5 shots in a milk jug at 1000 using it and ive done the same with the 6.5 creed
300 RUM 30-378 WBY
Didn’t work well for my 6.5 prc. Plus it’s a relatively dirty powder compare to h1000
338winmag 225gr will it run ok or I'm I asking for trouble/ styball hd
Gavin I have A 264 Win Mag, I wonder if that powder would work in It?
I suspect that StaBALL HD will work great in your 264 Win Mag, and intend on trying it in my 257 Weatherby Magnum, and my 7mm Remington Magnum. It should be an excellent choice. We shall see. :)
Would greatly appreciate seeing sample size data when tests like this are conducted. I think it could help paint a better picture when SDs and Averages are published, rather than saying “We loaded some 7 PRC.” Thanks!
