You are the man!!! We fiancé & I took an 8 1/2 hour trip to Nebraska from Indianapolis for her graduation and on the way back, the AC went out! I quickly got home and the next day searched HOW to fix her AC and got ahold of some Avalanche and your video was phenomenal!!! Thank you Sir!
Ok I bought the same type of can. So glad I found this video. This explained how to use way simpler than the instructions on can or any other video I’ve seen
I bought a bottle of Autozone barand refrigerant gas for my old 2003 civic and the instructions in the can where just awful. I found this video and could do the job in 10 minutes! Thank you very much for this information!

I think you shouldn't filling it on an upside down can/tank manner, actually 45 degrees angle is the most a can should be and agitate the freon by just shaking it lightly because when doing that on an upside-down can, refrigerant would go directly into compressor that will cause it to be damage

Before you filed did u evacuate the old freon from the system and how much? How did u know exactly quantity of freon that u need to fill?
This recharge does not involve releasing any refrigerant from the system. Refer to the part of the instructions that tell you what pressure to fill to based on what temperature it is in your city today.
Read the instructions, these are the same people that leave bad reviews on products all because they don't follow the instructions. My car only holds 22 psi of freon the vent temp was running at 60 but if my vehicle was moving for a while, it would cool down to 50. When I refilled my freon I put a thermometer into my vent. I refilled my thermometer, hit the reading of 40 degrees, then rev my car up to 1000 rpm for 1 minute and the reading dropped another 5 degrees, and the outside reading temp was 83 degrees. The freon gauge stops right on 22 psi and I have half of can left Drove my car the next day she has no issue of performing when it hot and humid out, I go by my car manual I think it crazy empty a hold can into your system. These car dealers aren't filling the ac system in the outside atmosphere ac is a pressurize system, that pressure have to go somewhere it will find the weakest point to relieve all that pressure

Hi, do you read the psi while pressed ?
NOT while pressed. See 4:48 to 5:14. You won't get an accurate reading until you release. The needle will then settle on the accurate PSI reading.
does it only screw on one of the 2 valves? meaning will it fit fit on the wrong one?

Thank you for posting how to use this type can. I tried to do this yesterday and did it completely wrong. I got frustrated and gave up. Now I will try again this afternoon when I get home from work after watching your video. I was completely off. Had no idea you had to twist the lid to open, and was pushing the button where it hooked instead of on top of can.
So to be clear, turn on car and ac on high first THEN proceed to add refrigerant right? Because the can i got says nothing about turning car on first. Says add some first THEN turn on ac???
Definitely turn the car on and put AC on high. The AC compressor needs to be operational during this process.

What to do with a half can of refrigerant? Can I put in more?
I you can hang onto that half can for next time the ac starts to fail. You want to be careful not to put too much in. That can damage the air conditioner.

Is there a trick to keep the spring loaded top to stay attached to the Low pressure port?
Great question, Nick. Your situation sounds unique. If it’s position properly, the spring loaded attachment should click on and hold. Is it possible that there’s something obstructing it’s way? Feel free to message me with pictures and I can try to help troubleshoot.

you really shouldn't charge a cars A/C system as a liquid with R134A unless the car is off, if the port is too close to the compressor you can flood it with liquid, slug it and possibly damage the compressor. I know these companies that make these quick charge bottles say to rotate it between 9 and 12, but it's just not a good idea. charge it as a gas, the low side will suck about 85% of the bottle out as the pressure will usually be lower than what's in the bottle, you can shake it to kind of get half gas half liquid afterwards to empty it, you just don't want pure liquid refrigerant going into the system, some cars the port is very far away from the compressor so it's not as big an issue as by the time it hits the compressor it's usually changed states to a gas, but it's just good practice.

It’s the low pressure side port. The connector will only fit on the low pressure port. Good luck!
What happens if the psi is 119?
Are you sure you’re not looking at the kPa?
That would translate to 17 PSI. If you’re using the same refrigerant, the kPA is the smaller number in the inner of the circle. The PSI is the outer number. If your PSI is truly that high, you may be on a different type of system and should take it in to a professional.
Also make sure that you are NOT holding down the button or trigger while you're reading the PSI. Your PSI reading will only be accurate while NOT supplying your system with refrigerant. Where the needle settles after releasing the button/trigger is where your accurate PSI read is.

When I hook mines up to the low port hose, The psi is in the red. Does that means I have to take it to a mechanic or could I still use the refrigerant
Go ahead and release some refrigerant in for two seconds and release and see if the gauge reads differently. It may just be that it hasn’t gotten a proper reading, yet. If it still stays in the red, you should probably play it safe and take it in to an expert.
If your car was on and the ac wasnt on when you plugged it in then yes it will read in the red. Turning the ac on full blast will bring it down to the proper reading. If still in the red then your compressor may need to be checked.
@@kingsaulification I had the ac on blast, I even tried that drain method and refilled it to the green and it still didn’t work. I guess im going to need to see a mechanic

Thanks, Timmy….ahhh…I remember those days. Timmy is what I went by when I was a kid. Good memories. Ummm, yes. The instructions do say to shake it-similarly to how the instructions on a can of spray paint or WD-40 or hairspray, for that matter, say to shake it. Even more specifically it says to shake while dispensing. Sounds like this might be helpful intel for you. Good luck!
