Prepare yourself for a metal rampage the likes of which you haven’t enjoyed in many a year as New Wave of British Heavy Metal stalwarts RAVEN deliver the electric mayhem of All Hell’s Breaking Loose, their 15th studio album, set for release June 30th on Silver Lining Music.
The Newcastle pioneers, formed by the Gallagher brothers (bassist/vocalist John and guitarist Mark) and rounded out by drummer extraordinaire Mike Heller have emerged from Heller’s own Heaven And Heller Studios in Los Angeles with 10 crisp, visceral metal classics, each fused with riffs, twists, turns, chaos and more hooks than all the Hellraiser movies combined (think hyperbole, ‘turn-it-UP’ and find out for yourself)!
Among the stand-outs are lead single “Go For The Gold” with the redline pushed hard by a cavalcade of riffs and furious, percussive madness, yet behind it all a melodic journey that makes it multi-dimensional skull-crushing.
“‘Go For The Gold’” is our first single as it really represents the new album mission statement... 100% full on RAVEN lunacy!!!!” enthuses John Gallagher. “If you’ve got an initial great riff, you just build from it,” explains John, “you try not to milk it to death. You want a good structure. You want a good verse with hooks, a good pre-chorus with hooks, a great chorus, and then you want little left turns here and there to spice it up. Otherwise it can sound boring. And if you have too many left turns then it turns into jazz fusion, so it’s a funny line you gotta dance on to have structure but also the chaos part as well.”
All Hell’s Breaking Loose will be available on 12” Black Vinyl, 12” Limited Edition Green Vinyl, CD Digipak, Tape Cassette, Digital Formats and special D2C bundles; pre-order here: smarturl.it/Al...

Metal City IS the BEST Raven record. Marks drumming takes this band to the next level!

Subject matter of the songs is what hooked me on Raven way back in the day. It's not all "Let's party", or "devil worship" type lyrics. Raven's stuff made me think, made me look up things in history books. They are a more cerebral, thinking man's metal.
I started a series of letters back and forth w/ John Gallagher in the 80's and he obviously took serious time to converse with me, and that was special! We mailed back and forth enough that I even made it on the "thank you" list on Architect of Fear! Not many metal musicians will do things like that.
    Unique band, awesome hooks!

Yes! I only latched onto a few metal bands back in the 80's mostly because I had no time for satanic or "life sucks" lyrics. Raven was a big exception and of course the music was over the top great so...

Hail the NWOBHM, Hail Raven! The best thing I ever did was quiting the drinking (over 3 years sober now). Alcohol is the worst drug ever made and make people quite blind. OK, some can drink without problems, thats nice, but at least 50% can't. Also sober people can spend more money for Metal! Please come back to Finland some time soon. 2005 (KIT) 2010 (HOA) and 2015 (Helsinki) gigs were nice, what I remember (thanks to king alcohol). Now it is time to listen some "Rock Until You Drop", from Neat LP, pic disc or several CD's I own. Over The Top 4CD edition is the ultimate edition with the best mastering job and the booklet full of rare photos and nice story. Do not hesitate just Buy it! Fan since 1997, it was cold and snowy late winter afternoon in early 1997 when picked up the package from post office with Venom BM LP and Raven first picture disc (also the first Neat Records album Neat1001?), that was it! It was sounding different, fresh (back in the 90s traditional sound was not be heard for kids at least for posers like me), somehow weird to kid used to listen Mayhem (quite possible the band was fans of Raven too) and Burzum. But soon I grown up and fall into love with it. The album stinks of leather and metal! PS. Please do some 80's shirt designs if possible, not too much into merchandising but Raven needs more those classic design, especially that barbed wire + bloody hands + logo is killer (Sodom anyone?) looking shirt. Before those bloody bootleggers (which do quite nice design although). PPS. I have "Stay Hard" OG backpatch for sale/trade, it is yours for 10€ or if you are too poor and want it still, I can give it for cost of postage if send me photo you wear it into your vest, pm. Metal should not be about money and trends, especially the (ultra deluxe hyped) vinyl thing today has become too expensive for many. Too much greed is killing the fun.
