One-Two-Watch: Meet Lana Del Rey - Exclusive Interview

- Haters are gonna hate. The reality for an artist is that not everyone is going to love what you make. Not everybody is going to understand where you are coming from. Not everyone will give you the benefit of the doubt when doubt is rampant. In our pre-packaged world we haven't been exposed to the growth of an artist. We can't let someone grow, can we? It's not good enough that the artist is smart, insightful and mesmerizing. That artist should not miss the mark AT ALL. The artist should not have anxiety or be nervous about the massive steps that confront and carry her forward into an unknown world of fast-paced scrutiny and limitless judgement. Lana Del Rey is a beautiful, shy and intricate human being with a meaningful and sultry voice that connects both emotionally and viscerally. Her style is impeccable and her presence resonates with both curiosity and confidence. The "Video Games" single that met with so much love pushed her into the world. She has only had a few shows to capture her personal melodies in a public presentation that matches who she is. This is about supporting artists in their future. We should be there for their best and most challenging moments as they grow into their full potential. If you have belief in the artists you love, then believe that it's about the journey, and not just the destinations. (ie. SNL) Lana Del Rey is a true artist on her way to greatness and, the truth is, you have to love her a little to hate her at all.

She literally just decided to live this unreal vintage artistic life one day and now that’s her life
iconic behavior
Its exactly why a lot of people thinks shes manufactured, her debut is almost too good to be true
exactly.@@ChanRawrer
A literal icon
"what would you say to all the haters?"
"i don't think i'd say anything." bless
pure yet sassy. icon.
She should start doing that again 😭
@@Dylangiddens PLSSS 😭
She said 'we we're born to die"
@@Dylangiddens omg😭😭😭
Looking back on it, this video is probably what started my obsession with Lana. She's so captivating, and this video really showcases it. It feels like you're watching a vintage interview of someone long gone.
Pretty Little Liars it's absolutely iconic
This was the first time I heard her talk, first time I ever saw her was the disastrous SNL performance. She became style/vocal influence on me. I miss this Lana but it’s such a sad and juvenile world she was in, I’m glad she’s long been out of it but I never liked any of her stuff after this album.
@@AskSydneyLipton ummm you don't like ultraviolence ??????????
@@tayloraltomare7370 ikr Ultraviolence is a masterpiece 😭🖤
Same
"i'm usually always singing about the same goddamn person"
never felt this much relatable before
peggy day yes!!! But who is she referring to?!
underground Lady i was wondering that for so long , i wish i knew!
Ikr, I think she's referring to K but who knows
I wanna know dammit !!!!
lmao aint this true
Omg i want her to tell me a bedtime story
better yet, I want her to sing me to sleep
The cutest comment :).

She's very shy, she never looks back at the interviewer. interesting, also she can't sit really relaxed without moving her fingers, or legs or blink a lot.
That's literally me 😂💖
She's way more confident now a days isn't she?
You should watch her new interviews, she changed a lot
I think it comes from wanting to fit a role. She spoke about starting to copy her own rolemodels and the way they talk, hold themselves... I think that's here the nervousness comes from, the fear of breaking character
Bitch
- "Find someone who has a life that you want and figure out how they got it. Read books." Something we should all follow, truly inspirational.
she's too iconic
I really like how this interview was edited and filmed in a vintage style that fits Lana so well.
I just realized that the way she carries herself and talks in interviews resembles a shy more girly version of Dita von Teese. So down to earth, yet out of this world and time.
its like ms von teese is marilyn monroe or the “glamorous celebrity” and lana is the norma jean or “girl next door”
Not at all. Lana's demeanor was an act in the earlier days. A lot like how Paris Hilton would use the baby voice. Her act is copied from Hope from Mazzy Star and Marilyn Monroe. As for comparison to Dita, Dita and I use to be in the same circles and I've met her a few times in gatherings. Dita, is a not act. Fully her authentic self. And they’’re nothing alike.
Man, how could you hate Lana? She is gorgeous and has an AMAZING voice with incredible range and a very versatile tone. I love her, obviously.
ethereal is the only word to describe her
she has the same chilled vibe as Aaliyah
am i the only one who was very surprised to hear her voice for the first time?
Khanh Ta yes. This is the first time I've heard her actual voice. I was extremely surprised.
no yea, first time i heard her voice it was like so weird cause in her songs her voice is so strong and deep but when she’s talking it sounds so girly and youthful. i love it i wanna hear her voice in my head forvever it’s such a beautiful sound
You still listening to her now?
she even drinks out of a vintage coke bottle, fuck she's so cool.
I just cried for this . I don't know, I just did .
The Mermaid same
I did too, It just happened
She's just so down to earth. i love her
I didn't expect her talking voice would sound so cute. I thought it would be motherly and calming
"Find someone who has a life that you want and figure out how they got it...read books...pick your role models wisely, find out what they did and do it" -- possibly the best message you can send to young people finding themselves
When people say she can’t sing in front of people. They’re wrooooooonnnnngggggg
Is there a "I fucking love this" button?
2:08 so feminine, so shy , so pure.
How classy of her when she was asked, what would she say to her haters and she responded with "I don't think I can say anything" wow.
Lala J she is the essence of boss. Such a rare unicorn
"would" not "can" that just ruined the whole message she was trying to say.
her attitude is retro, nostalgic and aesthetic at the same time and this makes her so amazing and influencial
I always come back to this. I think it was the first interview of Lana I saw back in 2012. Love her
I have this audio on my phone and sometimes it pops up randomly and it's so satisfying, inspiring and refreshing. Not that you care, just felt like someone else needs to know that's a possibility...
Favorite interview by this angel . Still watching in 2017
Me too ❤
Naomi Disaster 2018..
I'm in 2019
2020
2021 o.o
Her voice is so sensual
Forever Demi it’s the taurus
Jade Ackloo it's her cancer mercury*
She's a cancer
Hard to believe I first saw this interview 6 years ago. I love how shy she is in the video.
Ikr
It's typing
And its been 6 year that you comment in this video
She has this classic aura about her that seperates her from everyone else. I wouldn't say "depressed" but a more unusual calmness. She is a wonderful singer and can't wait to see what the fture hold for her.
"i'll love him forever" ugh I feel that and whenever I feel sad about him I always go back to her songs. She gets it!!
I said it many times and I will say it again, Lana Del Rey is a one of a kind artist who never got enough success and recognition.
Her voice is literally THE PERFECT FEMALE VOICE.
Any female voice on the face of this planet could not be any more perfect: she sounds sexy when she wants to, she sounds soothing when she wants to, she sounds happy when she wants to, she sounds sad when she wants to etc.
Lana Del Rey's singing and speaking voice is so interesting that I could listen to it for my whole life.
Her voice is so childish&perfect. Her hands are so thin&perfect. She is so beautiful&perfect
Everything about her is lovely.
What would you say to your haters?
"I wouldn't say anything."
Best response ever
❤️👌🏼✨
Ediana Ventrice yes🙌🏽 I loved that response.
This has to be one of my favorite interviews ever, I love the editing, I love the music, and Lana is just a queen.
it's incredible how she changed a lot in a few years
Wow. I remember first watching this when i was about 14, after hearing video games. I immedietely fell in love with Lana, looking back on this now it's amazing seeing how she has developed as an artist and a person.
2019 and this is still my favorite lana video
It makes me sad how bad the backlash was after her SNL performance. I really didn't see what was so wrong with it, and I think what happened is that people are not used to such a unique talent and voice. She's incredibly classy, wise, and gifted, and will go very far I predict.
you predicted well
This aged like fine wine.
still...
She sadly pulled a reverse Adele.
I love her but this performance you are talking about was awful vocally
This interview is so I-C-O-N-I-C
This interview changed my life forever and I don't know where I would be without Lana. When I hear Lana's music, even her most personal songs (actually especially her most personal songs), I always feel like she knows exactly who I am and I'm so fucking grateful and beyond lucky because I never dreamed I'd ever feel someones company so strongly like that. Somebody who understands me. Every time I listen to her, I feel like I want to create something from it and I'm reminded of how beautiful life is. I look for a piece of her in every friend I make because of how close I feel to her (is this starting to sound creepy? haha). Lana, I love you. I'm always hoping that one day she'll receive all the love I have for her.
This started as just a comment and turned into a little love letter for Lana
Her speaking voice and singing voice are both PERF.
she dreamed while singing, so devotedly...
HONESTLY THIS IS THE FUCKING QUEEN OF THE UNIVERSE SLAYING MY EXISTENCE I FUCKING LOVE HER SUCH A LEGEND WOW❤️
After watching candy necklace video, it all now make sense... she really played into her persona of Born to die
Her voice is so unique.
I think the great thing about Lana is that there's something familiar about her. About her words, her sound. It all leaves you longing for something that once touched you in a way everyone's been touched.
her voice is unique like crystalline and deep at the same time. It is so clear and sharp such as the words she uses are so poetic even for an interview. She is unique and heavenly but at the same time an "angel in the garden of evil".
Loved every single answer so much!!! Especially 'I was looking to make my life a work of art, and I was looking for people who also felt that way.' I want to embody this so much!!!!!!!
Can I just say if I met this woman I would hug her for the rest of my life I could she's so sweet! She's such a sweetheart but then again a baddie she's perfect! Her smile her laugh voice eyes style hair beauty she's just amazing!!!!
her voices (speaking and singing), her lyrics, and now even her everyday speech is so poetic and wonderful! "I look for someone who makes me feel electric" powerful answer no one would think of. i can imagine other artists' answers like "He has to be really cute" or "He should be funny" giggling.. I am a guy and i LOVE HER! (not ashamed to say that)
i picked my role model real wisely
Jesus…10 years ago?! I remember watching this the minute it uploaded
how does it feel aging?
I can't understand how you could hate her
I really can't
still my favourite lana interview ♡
i love how it's edited just like how her aesthetic & style goes
I didn't expect her speaking voice to sound like that. She's fucking amazing
THE TIME GOES FAST. FUCK.
I don't understand it either. It gets faster and faster every year.
I can't believe this interview was 12 years ago :(
how has 11 years gone by so fast.. I remember this like it was yesterday
“Find someone who has the life that you want and figure how they got it. Read books. Pick your role models wisely. Find out what they did and do it.”
i’m still watching this in 2019
Her music helped me through some abusive ass times ❤️ I don’t listen to it anymore because it brings back memories I don’t like, but i’ll forever be grateful
I really think she is a goddess...
She was so damn young!
She achieved her goal of making her life into a work of art. She already had in the first album
2023 still love you
Can we just appreciate the editing for a second.
we’re so blessed to be alive the same time as her
"I'm usually always singing about the same goddamn person. Sooo. I'll love him forever. But, you know, it's all good. It's all good."
she embodies art, everything she does is so beautiful and classical, we need more real artists like her in our world.
And "Choose your rolemodels wisely"
She evolved so much !
miss her acapella moments. she’s the only celebrity these days that has 60s level glamour
shes so lana del rey
I don't think I would say anything......
Lana is life-changing. Thank you
I love her so much. I feel like her songs are just so real. I also love her because she doesn't blend in with everybody else, but still doesn't try to hard to be different or over the top. She's just wonderful and inspiring and a fantastic artist and creator of words and dreams.
This video is my favorite! It's most likely what got me into her music and what made her an idol of mine. I "chose my role models wisely"
Love the message in the description. Lana is amazing. Everything about her I adore. Her voice. Her style. Her wise words and meaning for life and music. I love this woman and her music to pieces -33
Her voice is amazing! She is amazing artist!
this interview is pure gold. it reminds of why I got into her in the first place. she’s so captivating... also, I kinda miss this era, it’s f*cking iconic 🌹🖤
love the way they edited this video
I can't stop loving her, everytime I see a video of her I just love her more and more.. she is so rare!
I love her and her music so much, it’s shaped me as a person ❤
This has been my absolute fav interview of her since the beginning
This is still my favorite interview of hers.
She is so beautiful I cryyy
I love her so much, she's my everything 🤍
I’m in tears. I love this woman so much. I have no words. Thank you Lana for everything
I come back to this video about every 3-4 months
i remember when it came out and i made it my entire personality. i love her
Her talking voice is so high compared to her singing, I’m so confused
10 years after... she is still making her life art of work
that was great advice she gave, she's such a beautiful person, and the video description is so true
God she's so attractive how could you not fall in love
I’ll love her forever!!
7 years on and i still love this video
I've been listening to her songs on high repeat all year and Lana Del Rey's voice still hits the sweet spot for me. I dig her different vocal characterization in her different songs. Hungry for more Lana!
"I'll love him forever but it's okay" how tragic...
Her voice sounds just like in studio here!
ugh i just love her so much
Her voice is so amazing I don't have words for it
I think part of what makes her so beautiful, to me, has a lot to do with the graceful way in which she sings, moves and generally holds herself.
I saw her live earlier this year and there was something very angelic about her.
I think that's why so many people love her so much, she's a very easy person to both love and hate, she's very hit or miss.
