i think it’s so ironic that the interviewers were laughing at lana and treating her like she was stupid. i hope they realize everyday how rude they were towards her. lana was so happy to be there!
4:15 interviewer says "right" and touches her nose while saying it - a sign that person is lying. she didn't believe Lizzy was gonna make it big and her make her dreams come true.
The woman doing the interview actually made an update post about this a few years back. She was friends with Lizzy, they knew each other pretty well, went to the same college, etc. She also knew Lady Gaga a bit as her and Lizzy played at the same clubs. I don’t think she intentionally did that, she really liked Lizzy.
I can see the gears turning in Lana's head. The reasons for her moving here are very complex and she said she was very happy here. I don't think she can ever convey everything that is going on in her head, it's all about listening to the album. I think the interviewer knows this, so is asking her pretty simple questions to get her to warm up and giving her lots of space and time to answer. I'm so happy to see the trailer. I thought she bought it outright, that was reported, but she was just renting.
watched this interview years ago as a teen, could understand half of the words bc my English sucked at the time, but it really shaped me as a person haha fav lana interview ever, the Lizzy era always makes me nostalgic
She's a rich girl that thought being poor and living in a trailer park is a "cool aesthetic". She romanticized being poor. Decided to live there by choice to feel poor
The best of Lizzy Grant interviews, just a girl living in a trailer park...And all those small New York venues where she performed in 2007/8, my favourite; the 15 minute video from 2007 at some unknown club when she had beautiful long blond hair - worth an upload.
Yup agreed. Lana seems much more shy back then so it was hard to get more in depth answers from her I guess. Her answers in general were very short and vague, I am assuming based on her nerves.
Dude who are these people interviewing her? They seem like low key bullies lol. Like they tryna catch her in a lie or think she’s a clown. She’s divine 💖
I remember seeing this on UA-cam like it was yesterday. Lizzy (now Lana Del Rey) sees kitty @ 4:44 and pets kitty @ 5:30 Don't you just love Lana's Lizzy Grant days?
Its so funny, Lana is like Marilyn but than up side down A natural blonde turning into a redhead supposed to a natural redhead becoming a platina blonde
OK HER SAYING THAT SHE WAS LIVING IN A TRAILER PARK WHERE THE LOCK ON THE DOOR DIDNT EVEN WORK THAT SCARES THE CRAP OUT OF ME AND HS WAS PAYING $525 A MONTH FOR THIS PLACE? THAT SUCKS.
These guys couldn’t afford wireless lavs for this interview? 😏 The irony today is that this trailer park is gone. It’s been sold to a developer & now half-million/million dollar townhomes are built there.
what "furth/fourth record out in february 14 2009 are they talking about"? does she say furth or fourth? kill kill the ep is from october 2008 and this interview from november 2009. I thought Lana didn't put anything else out untill october 2010 "Lana Del Ray aka Lizzy Grant"
the bourgeois comes down to the trailer park that she lived at on purpose to use poor people as lyrical material. i do love some of the music on the first album, but this is too far haha
she was homeless and couch surfing before this, she had conflict with her family, first they sent her to boarding school, then to spain, then she moved to nyc, didnt have a home for a long time. you misrepresent her.
Wealth doesn’t necessarily nurture happiness, emotional health, or sense of worthiness. Being born into financial status is out of someone’s control. Relationships and experiences dictate a persons identity. Some voids can’t be filled by money. I can’t confidently speak on her support systems, and through her music it’s clear she was trying to find or fulfill a part of herself that couldn’t be bought. Not trying to be critical, just analyzing the nuance of her situation.
True. But it does help pay for rehab when your 14 and can’t have a job, as well as paying your rent for you. Definitely makes things a lot easier especially to set time aside for art.
I agree. She definitely had multiple advantages that are unattainable for a majority of the demographics that she overlapped with. (traumatically speaking) It’s nice that she was able to get the help that she needed. I hope to see those who aren’t as fortunate get that same level of care and support. Circumstances shouldn’t determine who is/isn’t undeserving, and I’m speaking across all lines. Land of the free, what a joke
She gives the most basic clichéd responses in interviews and isn't very articulate on social media. I love her first three albums especially Ultraviolence and Honeymoon, I just know she didn't write them
You're talking about Lana Del Rey not the Lizzy Grant shown here. She's extremely shy and nervous here and possibly under the influence too. This was a really long time ago. A completely different era and she was extremely young and a completely different person than the Lana Del Rey you know now. To say she didn't write her own songs means you haven't listened to all of her old Lizzy Grant stuff which references a lot of the same things as her Lana Del Rey songs. There are literally hundreds of her leaked unreleased songs and outtakes. She was also very into drug and alcohol use back then as she's talked and sung about.
@skye_belle888 I dunno, just seems too formulaic to me. Drug use, mental illness etc. tend to come with unhinged or reckless behaviour. Amy Winehouse for example. I've never seen any evidence of that. I've listened to all her unreleased stuff
@@carinasophie5180 I doubt you'd see any evidence of her unhinged behaviour, if any, as her family kept everything very hush hush and sent her to boarding school and rehab at a very early age before she got famous. Amy Winehouse was a lot older and it was all in the public eye unlike not even yet famous Lizzy. I do think she definitely dabbled in coke, meth and drank a lot. Which are all mentioned a lot in her older songs and new ones. Whatever happened I'm glad she got help for it. Not everyone runs around recklessly unhinged on drugs either. As for mental illness I do believe she suffered a lot from depression and anxiety. Especially anxiety is extremely debilitating and people try all kinds of drugs as a coping mechanism. I know because I have it too. I mean she's still shy and gets stage fright to this day and that's why people think she can't sing. Just look back at that SNL performance, she was nervous as hell, compare that to a lot of smaller performances she used to do and was confident and her voice sounded amazing. It's like two different people. To what degree she used drugs, well only her and her family know that. I believe that's one of the main reasons she has such a terrible relationship with her mother, so add other family dramas on top of that. You can tell by the lyrics in "Wildflower Wildfire" for example. You don't put someone on lithium and lock them in a hospital unless they're pretty unwell mentally, at least not where I'm from. "My father never stepped in, When his wife would rage at me, So I ended up awkward but sweet, Later than hospitals and still on my feet, Comfortably numb but with lithium came poetry". I don't know maybe that line just hits different for me because I also had a terrible upbringing and my mother was extremely neglectful. Also adding on that she romanticized a lot of her life early on. Which is also a coping mechanism for some people struggling mentally. So to which degree it was drug use and mental illness, or just romanticizing it, only she knows. I mean I doubt she smoked crack back in boarding school looking at old photos of her. Just my opinion.

Yea her story is incredible and inspiring. Love her so much. Very proud
she’s not from trailer parks

she is so bubbly and open, despite the odd energy the interviewer had
Really odd. Her energy was like an unconvinced, suspicious cop interviewing a suspect.
That interviewer is making her super anxious too by asking stupid questions about crimes and stuff. It's just awkward.
The interviewer seems really abrasive and almost patronizing at times. Made it awkward to watch. I felt like she made Lana awkward too
The interviewer saying “right” at 4:32 makes me so glad Lana proved her haters WRONG 😏
