  • The GX550 uses the same twin-turbo V6 engine as the Toyota Tundra engine now under NHTSA recall. Is the GX550 a risk? You decide.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) released an official report on the Tundra/LX600 Toyota/Lexus Twin Turbo V6 (V35A) engine failures.

Finally a SENSIBLE video from an auto UA-camr! 🙄 You hit the nail on its head! Toyota/Lexus essentially sell RELIABILITY, DURABILITY and LONGEVITY. And for many of us rabidly loyal Toyota buyers, it is the Holy Grail of our automotive purchases!

  • @thelonewolf666

bypass lexus and toyota for at least 10 years

  • @Plucus21

You would be a fool to hold onto these newer model TT V6's. If you really want one sell the 2024 and wait 2 years to buy back in.

Keep in mind that the new gx550 are built in Japan along with the new 4Runner. I don't think there will be any problems. All the problems are coming from the Indiana plant.

  • @Kdavis8377

Keep in mind the bulletproof 4.6 V8 we all love in our current GX’s had 200,000 motor recalls back in 2010 and 11. Toyota will work it out.

Your gx460 will last 30 years minimum with proper care. And that's being conservative! Take care and properly maintain your gx460

And now the Lexus TX and Grand Highlander are being recalled.

Toyota/Lexus really dropped the ball. I would not buy one with someone else's money.

Just picked up a 22 GX460…..I’d consider buying the new GX…..in 10+ years after it’s had the time to mature and become an icon like the outgoing model.

  • @youtubedude3422

For the price they are asking and what they deliver for it, this is unacceptable.

Great video! Love the beach setting. Makes me feel like I’m actually there.

You nailed it, my thoughts exactly. Toyota dealers are lined up with Tundras awaiting engine replacements.

  • @wilyceyote

You nailed it man but my opinion is Toyota Engine builders failed to inspect the engine Block and bearing carrier as well, before assembled the engine together I forgot attention to detail Quality product over quantity of product

Total Recall...I do believe the LS 3.44 twin turbo had a slightly different design. Different types of inter coolers etc. The Car Care Nut explained it pretty well. I do remember one Toyota/Lexus tech in Texas saying they had 4 LS cars sitting in their yard with seized engines back in 2021 when the Tundra was revealed and the engine was announced. The LS only sold about 500 units per year as well. But Toyota is not going to reveal these issues.

Love your commentary, sticky finger, deeper bearings, lmao, keep it coming….😂

sticking with my V8 GX and have now added aTesla Molel S. Feeling pretty smug now🥳!

  • @PastorDavidFranklin

Simply is wisdom to just wait until the new model gremlins are resolved. As much as I'd like to buy a new GX I will be holding onto my old 2004 GX.

  • @LJL-lm2op

I own a 2021 GX 460 Executive. It’s rugged and luxurious. If I had to buy now, I’d go X5 or X7. I won’t pay 110k CDN for the GX 550. If the reliability is no longer there, it’s not worth the price tag.
