This Bass is WAY BETTER Than the NG2 // Dingwall ABZ
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 жов 2024
- The ABZ series combines fanned-fret technology with a sleek, streamlined body shape that makes for a perfect introduction to the Dingwall Custom Shop. A serious option for any working bassist in the market for a versatile instrument that’s geared towards a modern sound, the ABZ has the power and versatility to deliver more or less whatever is asked of it.
Big thanks to Jason Corwin for bringing this bass by the studio.

I'd kill to own a dingwall. Fits every aspect of what I'm looking for PERFECTLY. Amazing company without a doubt
If I ever get a Dingwall, then I will never ask for another bass ever again
Except you're gonna want a nicer dingwall almost immediately.
Dingwall are shit
😂😂😂 keep lying to yourself 😅😂
Funny you say that....i have an NG3 for over a year now. Said the same thing....but i just bought a squier 40th anniversary P bass back in september. Wife hates me now.
@@kandem01 I have a Mexican fender p loaded with geezer butler split coil. Better than any dingwall I've heard
I've put those same FDV pickups in my NG2, love the sound, I much prefer them over the stock FD3N pickups. And was also much cheaper than buying an ABZ :D
The FDVs are waaaay better, they're the special sauce of the pricier models.
If we could get FDV pickups in retail there would be no need to get a canadian made dingwall at all
@@overseer_grimal you can
@@francoishtzl157 but where?
@@slash196 Not really way better, just different. They are standard now, but the old standard was FD3. FD3n is the same as FD3 but made in Korea instead of in house. There are tons of custom build that have the FD3 made in house and they sound killer too. Dingwall also offer SFII (SuperFatty II) and P-tone
I’ve had an NG3 6 for about a year and a half, and I love it. I can get every style I want, out of it. Wonderful instrument.
But my Z3 6 came to me from my dealer recently. The sound from it is nothing short of astounding. The looks, the craftsmanship, are impeccable, but the tones and playability of it are what makes it 100% worth the money and the year and a half wait to get it, to me.
What neck did you end up with Wenge? Maple?
@@YeetusMcfartland wenge. My Z3 was the recent purple to turquoise reverse burst with the dark trans purple back.
I don't really have gas for other basses these days but my eye has been on Lee Sklar's signature Dingwall for a few years. Unfortunately, it's just completely out of my price range. They are a great company with extremely well made instruments and I've definitely been impressed for a while now.
Could you guys post Josh's Death Magnetic cover with only the bass? I really liked that you guys did that for AJFA.
Great. Now I have BAS again! The ABZ sounds right and these pickups do sound like what I would want to hear. The B string is as close to perfect as any bass I have ever heard. Beautiful, too.
I’ve toured with Dingwall ABI and ABZ since 2012. I got one of the first combustion basses. I am not a fan of the Chinese models. I imagine I’ve just been spoiled by the Canadian models. I’ve owned almost every model from the 90s models to current and all I can say is Z’s have some of the most comfortable necks ever and the Afterburner series are the best tour Instruments I’ve ever played. They are indestructible tanks. I toured coast to coast over and over and would have to tune 3 times on average every 20 shows and never needed a neck adjustment.
It's hard to go back to the chinese models after trying a Canada-made model, they are so awesome
Starting with some vintage Alice, Heck yeah.
Mine is arriving today(hopefully).. I CAN'T WAIT
Did it arrive that day?
@@Metalgophera year ago? Yep. The best bass I've ever played.
I toured with Dingwall afterburners for over 12 years. There is no substitution for Canadian Dingwall bass guitars. They are expensive but worth every penny. Literally coast to coast playing every night I had to tune 3 times. I play hard finger style and slap. No need for neck adjustments no need for anything just beat it up, pack it up and repeat. I’ve owned every exotic bass I can think of and you can get more expensive but you can’t get better. Sheldon is a madman and their quality control is untouchable. Second to Dingwall for a battle/touring bass that is indestructible…. Only one other name comes to mind and that’s LeFay.
I played a Dingwall AB1 and AB2 (Afterburners) for years with FD3 pickups (neodymium). No complaints about the AB's but then I got a Z3 with FDV alnico pickups. The Z is another level up in every way. (The slim neck is my favourite part.) It took some time for me to get used to the alnico pickups, though. They seemed weak at first, lacking mid range, but eventually I grew to favour them over the neodymium pickups. The output is lower but the clarity is better, and with three of them, I can get all the classic bass tones I want - P-Bass, J-Bass, Stingray. I'd like to try Super Fatties. They seemed pretty dull in a comparison recording but then I see videos of Lee Sklar and he always sounds good.
To be fair, Lee could play a broomstick with a tightened down weed whacker line and sound amazing.
Slim neck? How slim is it?
Thanks
Alnico pickups is for me the way to go 😍😍
PREACH!!!
I'd buy that bass. I'd also buy that shirt. 👀
Beautiful bass, I would love to have heard some picked bass lines
Every time i say dingwall from now on, i'm throwing a jab 🤣. Cool video brotha! Looking into ordering a custom dingwall for myself 🤔
And what is the cost of this fine bass?
How tf do you even get a dingwall? I'd love to have one....but where do I even find one?
There are dealers throughout the world and you can find a dealer near you on Dingwall’s website
I do like me an ABZ 6 string on the neck pickup...
Don’t forget John Taylor!
4:25 Nice sound... Other sounds are still not very good
Sounds like any other active pickup bass with fresh strings
Love the looks of the bass but the tone is too articulate for me. Great video 🤘
WHERE BUY SHIRT?
PLS
Dude... that bass is almost 3 times the price of an NG2 .... no wonder it is a better axe, hehe
Watching this and suddenly realize I'm wearing the same shirt as the guest bassist. lol 🤘
The Asian boyz are gonna have a field day with this one
nice T-shirt , bro. heh ;-)
I'd sell my left kidney for a Dingwall bass.
Look for a place that does the rent/buy thing. thats how i got a NG3-6, good luck.
I want your shirt!!!
God id hope its better, it costs almost double an NG2 haha
10 minutes and all you talked about was the pickups. If the bass is “WAY BETTER”, I expect you to talk about the whole thing in detail.
Not quite sure ... I heard few flat notes here!
I need that t-shirt, you do not! Actually I need one that says leader of the crappy bassists with expensive gear club :)
Grail bass!
Not for nothing. But why on God's beautiful Earth do you wear shirts that say this?
Very bad at playing bass
Really
Both of you
