      @@thomaskitlica5572 They can't as it is perfectly legal to release them where caught. Research has found they aren't having the impact once believed, thus the reason why it's legal. You may want to do more than a Google search to get the correct information.

    Anything I need to know about handling these?...do they have spikes or anything I should know?

      no spikes, just nasty teeth. Best way to handle them is to grab them by the head and hold their mouth closed with you thumb on their head and rest of the fingers under the gills

    I thought that once you were in possession of a invasive species it's illegal to Let It Go I believe that is the law in Florida

      Per FWC it is not the law. The only thing illegal to do with Snakehead in Florida is to transport a live one from one location to another. It is not illegal to catch and release them.

You are not introducing but you are releasing. “It is unlawful for any person to possess, transport or otherwise bring into the state or to release or introduce in the state any freshwater fish, aquatic invertebrate, marine plant, marine animal, or wild animal life that is not native to the state without a permit from the Commission, except fathead minnow, variable platy, coturnix quail, and ring-necked pheasant. (68-5.001, F.A.C.)”

They need to arrest and confiscate anyone's equipment that is caught releasing a invasive species!!! But if you want ask Florida fish and wildlife officials and they will tell you that they can issue a 5000 dollar fine for every fish and they can confiscate truck's boat's and other equipment!!! Try knowing the laws before telling people something that can get them arrested!!!

I have talked to fishery biologists at FWC and was told research has found they aren't having the impact once believed, thus the reason why catch and release is perfectly legal. Perhaps you should do more than a google search! Obviously not. Research has found they aren't the threat once believed. Do some actual research, not a google search.

    It is illegal to release them. Understand you aren’t introducing it to the water, but you should use it for bait or kill it. Those are not good to have around as much as it’s a good fighting fish to catch

      These are COMPLETELY LEGAL to release. They only inhabit an area of about 70 miles in south Florida, the only place in the country where you can find them.

    I hope that they ticket you for releasing invasive species!!! I hate seeing people like you let them go!!! I grew up in palm beach county in the 80s and you could catch 10 pound bass every day now you are lucky to even catch a 1 pound bass!!! Please people start making people responsible for their actions!!! It is against the law in Florida to release invasive species!!! Make sure that they get fined and maybe one day we can get our bass back!!!
