Saying no to guests is huge! I remember how invasive it felt when almost all of mine and my husbands family (parents, siblings) came to the hospital uninvited just hours after my first was born. It really is worth it to set boundaries ahead of time!
Ah yes! Those are really such intimate moments and sweet time to rest, get to know baby and figure out how to breastfeed. I think people are caring but just clueless on how much space a new mama needs.
This video is so helpful! New mom to be here, I’m currently 24 weeks with my first baby and I’m already having to get used to setting boundaries. Also thank you for saying to not share negative birth stories. I’ve already experienced this and it’s not helpful at all, just anxiety inducing!
I think I’d have to say Lana, this is my absolute favorite video of yours. These tips are real, even for me at fourteen I think it’s so important to learn these tips for the future and even for now. Especially the learning how to say no bit (thanks for the advice Matt!), it’s something people like me need to learn who say yes to most people even when we don’t want to because we want to please. My favorite part of this video has to be the kids though, love the little bits of them put into this video, especially the beginning 😂. Keep it up girl!
So glad I found your channel! These were very unique tips that I haven’t heard from any other UA-camr and I took a lot of them for myself. I just had my first baby 5 weeks ago and this video is very helpful, thank you 🤍
Watching you pause what you were doing to reattach a character’s arm or leg was so relatable 😂 and that you were corrected about the character’s name! Been there!
My baby (the youngest of my four) will be 7 next week. However, thinking back the best thing for me and each of my kids was making a schedule. I read the book Baby Wise and even though I recommend that to all new moms I remind them that it’s not the Bible and you can take out what you like of it and then don’t worry about the rest. I typically don’t start the schedule until they’re almost 2 months old though because I give myself the first couple months to just enjoy them and heal.
Yes so important to not be a slave to it all. I have seen friends just disappear bc nothing could ever interfere with the schedule, so I think its so wise to caution them to use it all as a tool. Just so nice to know when they might be signaling they are hungry or tired and I think looking at schedules can teach a new mama that. I know the time has to feel like its flying with your 4. It sure does for me ❤️
@@girlteachme Yes! I love the flexibility a schedule brings even though it sounds odd, it’s so true! You know more of what comes next and it helps mama and baby! Time is flying for sure! Trying to enjoy each season though because they are all so wonderful and challenging in different ways!
Lana, this is beautiful and I love how your kids are in the background while you speak, and connect so much with what you're saying. As a mom of 4 myself, I appreciate each piece of advice! I agree 100% with the coconut oil and the break after having a baby. In the Spanish culture we take 6wks of no housework or going outside, helps a lot.
Wow, yes I can see 6 weeks for sure. I think our culture could do a lot better with new mamas and also grieving, there just isn't enough space to heal. And Yenny you are such a kind encourager. I just know we would hit it off in real life. Cheering you on too friend 🤍
I LOVE that phrase! “Don’t share your pearls with pigs” iam going to use that! I totally agree

I need to get better at saying no. I’ve come a long way, but that’s always been a hard one for me 😂 great tips!!!
Seriously it is hard for me too, I learn a lot from watching Matt say no and I'm like ok I can do this haha
