@@mikesannitti6042That’s a false narrative. Scott Steiner failed Scott Steiner. He had a pretty solid push but he was sluggish and couldn’t perform to the same standard. Today, Scott takes accountability for his second WWE run. Goldberg was given a massive push in WWE, even became world champion. Goldberg didn’t realize that WWE is WWE and they do not operate the same as WCW was like. Goldberg became a problem backstage. Of course his push would wind down due to his lack of flexibility. Goldberg came back years later and was given a great run for those that were still Goldberg fans. Steve Austin, Triple H, Mick Foley, Undertaker, etc. all came from WCW yet they were given massive pushes during the Attitude Era. Booker T had his best run ever in WWE as World champion as King Booker.
@@mikesannitti6042 How so? He was the champion. He had many wins. Goldberg only embarrassed himself because he gassed out quickly and had some embarrassing matches which none of that was WWE’s fault. The dude nearly killed Undertaker ffs!
@@XTR02 Goldberg losing cleanly. Him being booked to only do a couple moves fed into the negative narrative about him even though in WCW he was doing drop kicks, backflips, judo hip tosses, and a variety of mma inspired moves. And when I say wcw guys I mean the top tier guys who came over after the buyout. DDP, Hall, Nash, Sting, Goldberg, Steiner all had abbreviated bad runs in WWE after being the ones who put the competition over the WWF. Only Hogan was immune and that's because he was Hogan.
vince was actually trying so hard to push jindrak to be in evolution over batista, it was triple h who didn't like when jindrak was around, and jindrak didn't take the business serious enough like batista did, so vince agreed with triple h
They tried to several times. The problem was he couldn't cut a good promo to save his life. And really, he had a much better career than most people who get a top push. Eventually those guys get boring and they're replaced by a new top guy. The guy who can work with literally everybody and make everybody look better than they are is going to have a lot more longevity and probably in the long run will make more money.
No matter how many videos I watch of Maven, I just can't get over his honesty and humility. What type of man does it take to say, "the office probably viewed me as holding Randy back". Geesh, that's just hardcore honesty with yourself right there.
Booker was also a victim of backstage politics. He came into the WWF a certified star and world heavyweight champion and they could have easily picked up that momentum and launched him into the stratosphere. Diamond Dallas Page. Also, a certified star and legend when he arrived in the WWF, had his character destroyed.
Booker was a made up star in WCW. He was a mid carder at best in reality. His stupid spinning unathletic kick was so goddamn awful, as was the rest of his ring work. He got more than he ever deserved in WWE.
You know that feeling when you don't know what to put on TV when having dinner. The Maven Huffman youtube channel is the solution! Thank you Maven and Zach for providing us with such awesome content!
Shelton said in an interview that he thinks he was `too nice´ and that is why the office never really took him seriously as a world champion material. When the office pigeonholes you in a certain way, there is very little you can do to change their opinion and by consequence your own career there

And I really appreciate how it could've been extremely easy to throw a little dirt on someone's name when discussing a topic like that, even by accident, but you took great care not to do that in any way, shape or form
Let me tell you how good you are at telling stories and making videos. My interest in wrestling has always been limited to a couple of N64 games back in the day (haven't played that type of game since), looking at random YT clips of some of the bigger known guys, and a random documentary here and there. I've never really cared enough about wrestling and could never get into watching a full show or even a full match. That being said I have binged your videos. You are just excellent at covering topics and keeping it interesting enough for even someone like me to remain interested.
Maven: Has R-Truth been a Main Event Talent? No, Has he been the guy who is head of the marquee "Never" R-Truth: Got over with the judgment day storyline, Reunite the Awesome Truth, Wins the Tag Champ at WrestleMania, Main event a couple Raw episode.
That still doesn't mean R-Truth is main event. Cody, Cena, Brock, Roman, and Orton are WWE Main eventers. R-Truth has great comedic timing and is still in phenomenal shape, but he is mid-card...and that's not an insult. Not everyone can headline PLE's.
Always like Mav when he was a wrestler, now I love him as a UA-camr guy. Dude can read the back of a cereal box and I’d enjoy watching. Keep the vids coming Maven.

Maven! Not sure how swamped you are with video ideas but I was wondering if you’d do a what if story line videos. How YOU would’ve taken creative control during some of the most prominent story lines of WWE. Whether that’s tweaking the story or leaving it how it played out. Like cena with nexus or Zack Ryder continuing his wrestlemania moment and not losing to the miz the next day
Hey maven, I love your videos. I want to start by saying that. This video was a bit of a miss, however. I enjoyed the concept of this video, but we watched your videos to get behind-the-scenes details that we can’t get anywhere else. I totally understand. You don’t want to hurt your relationship with the WWE, and for good reason, but you really didn’t go into detail on anything in this video. I don’t want to be a hater, but Remember, we come to you for the inside dirt in the industry and this entire video you tiptoe around saying anything of substance. Either way keep up the great content man. We will always be here to support you.
I could’ve sworn that Shelton was the most underused and underappreciated atheltes in the WWE. He should’ve been a Brock Lesnar type character who didn’t have good mic skills but could still be main event because of his elite in-ring skills. He was done dirty
I disagree with the assessment that Test would have been high up in the hierarchy of WWE. Politics might have affected him but he didn't have great charisma and his mic work was mediocre at best. Maybe he could have been a good heel in the middle of the card
@@jasontodd1896 You're going to have to explain that. I mean of course your entitled to an opinion but how'd you come to that conclusion? Triple H was great on the mic, funny when he had to be. See the Nation of Domination spoof DX did. He was serious and you believe what he says. See his promos when feuding with Shawn or The Rock. Test could barely spoke and could barely speak when he did. Triple H was a great worker. Test was okay, he wasn't David Flair bad but no where near Triple H. Test couldn't come back from his burial after the Stephanie McMahon debacle. Triple H came back after being tossed out winning the King of the Ring and had forgetful feuds. So how was Test any where near a main eventer let alone as good or better than Triple H?

How much early 90s "Documentary" are we going today?
.
.
Definitely.
(Love this)
Maven looking like a star here. Keep killing it Mave, love your stuff
The “in public talking” videos are just so good man
Your content reminds me of Breaking the Magician's Code, so cool how you explain your experiences and the secrets. I find this much more interesting than the storylines of WWE TV. Would be cool if you revealed UA-cam secrets and how much UA-cam paid you aswell haha! Amazing content!
Big Poppa Pump was a savage back in the day. WWE did do him dirty.
Every WCW guy got done dirty when they went to WWE. All the way to Sting and even Goldberg.
@@XTR02 Goldberg's recent run was designed to hurt his legacy.
I was not watching WWE at the time you were on. But I love your videos, and I hope WWE invites you back in some way. You would be a real asset.
Mark Jindrak was a guy who was hurting Randy Orton's career. They really hated when Orton would hang out with him.
vince was actually trying so hard to push jindrak to be in evolution over batista, it was triple h who didn't like when jindrak was around, and jindrak didn't take the business serious enough like batista did, so vince agreed with triple h
Awesome video Maven! Very personal and objective. No BS and respect you own up to everything.
How Steiner didn’t break his neck at 4:27 is astonishing
Steiner math helped
I agree…. He was a freak athlete in his day
@@MavenKHuffman what’s up Maven?
The shot of the Capitol reflecting in your sunglasses was just pure cinema!!!
Shelton Benjamin deserved an even bigger push. It just seems they could never figure out the right gimmick for him
USA Captain America
They tried to several times. The problem was he couldn't cut a good promo to save his life. And really, he had a much better career than most people who get a top push. Eventually those guys get boring and they're replaced by a new top guy. The guy who can work with literally everybody and make everybody look better than they are is going to have a lot more longevity and probably in the long run will make more money.
@@jd9119 Shelton Benjamin did that… in the ring.
To me the hurt business was just right
@@theragoooverlord5021 I agree actually. Unfortunately creative didn’t see it, sometimes they make mistakes
No matter how many videos I watch of Maven, I just can't get over his honesty and humility. What type of man does it take to say, "the office probably viewed me as holding Randy back". Geesh, that's just hardcore honesty with yourself right there.
I’m a simple man, I see maven and I click like.
🙏🏽🙏🏽
@@MavenKHuffmanyou’re legend bro!
Good wrestler and even better person. I remember your Tough Enough episodes and WWE run. Glad your still around
Great content Maven. I loved tough enough back in the day and these videos are a great incite into the mad world of wrestling.
Maven on my home turf! Did you do anything fun or tour anywhere?
You know that feeling when you don't know what to put on TV when having dinner. The Maven Huffman youtube channel is the solution! Thank you Maven and Zach for providing us with such awesome content!
Shelton said in an interview that he thinks he was `too nice´ and that is why the office never really took him seriously as a world champion material.
When the office pigeonholes you in a certain way, there is very little you can do to change their opinion and by consequence your own career there
Thanks for the vid Mave, I've always been very curious about this part of the business.
No, Has he been the guy who is head of the marquee "Never"
R-Truth: Got over with the judgment day storyline, Reunite the Awesome Truth, Wins the Tag Champ at WrestleMania, Main event a couple Raw episode.
He also Introduce the world to Tom and Nick Mysterio
That still doesn't mean R-Truth is main event. Cody, Cena, Brock, Roman, and Orton are WWE Main eventers. R-Truth has great comedic timing and is still in phenomenal shape, but he is mid-card...and that's not an insult. Not everyone can headline PLE's.
R truth is over, but over doesn’t always mean main eventer.
He briefly was in the main event scene in 2011 for like 2 times, with Cens in a one off feud and with Miz against Rick and Cena.
Always like Mav when he was a wrestler, now I love him as a UA-camr guy. Dude can read the back of a cereal box and I’d enjoy watching. Keep the vids coming Maven.
When you say "backstage politics" my first thought is of Hulk Hogan and the Kliq
The kliq still run the backstage politics to this day. 😂
I'm starting to love watching your videos you're such a real one I've been watching you since Tough Enough you were always just a good person❤
I keep my life pretty simple. I see a Maven video, I click it.
SMART MAN!!!!
Hey Maven! I just wanted to thank you for posting these types of videos. It's been really informative and interesting to learn about.
Hey here, Maven guys
Shelton Benjamin and R-Truth underrated forsure 🐐
hey for what its worth you have grown on me i appreciate the wwe content you give us we appreciate the stories you share and info thank you
Scott Steiner was a rebel. It doesn't surprise me
Scott wasn't a person you gave shit to backstage for sure from what I've heard.
My parents didn't let me watch wrestling as a kid because they thought it was fake and low class. Sadly common in suburbia. But if I was watching I think I would have been a fan and I am fascinated by the business. All the best Mave and hope we can get you on screen at least once to get a gnarly bump for all the "exposing" you've done.
Maven: “Everybody back stage loved and respected Sheldon Benjamin”
Vince: “Quick, let’s make him a mama’s boy.”
How do you consistently deliver such banger videos, God damn brother you're addicting to watch haha. Much love Mav!
Here we are! 😎
Maven carrying this country through 2024! Another great video brother. Much love ❤
Maven! Not sure how swamped you are with video ideas but I was wondering if you’d do a what if story line videos. How YOU would’ve taken creative control during some of the most prominent story lines of WWE. Whether that’s tweaking the story or leaving it how it played out. Like cena with nexus or Zack Ryder continuing his wrestlemania moment and not losing to the miz the next day
Shoutout to Ryback!!!!
I love this channel. You tell all your stories so well. Glad i subscribed. I bet you were a dope ass teacher and the kids loved your class
"hey babe, Maven's just uploaded a new video!".
I'm sorry......there is no "babe" in this house.....im alone!......😭😭😭
You still have us friend, us maven marks!
@@mf289 👍😀
He was
Most black wrestlers are done dirty.
Great format / background today!!
WWE and DC politics… seem to go hand in hand these days.
Like Hogan shilling for convicted felons

Great topic. Maven becoming my favorite UA-camr
I disagree with the assessment that Test would have been high up in the hierarchy of WWE. Politics might have affected him but he didn't have great charisma and his mic work was mediocre at best. Maybe he could have been a good heel in the middle of the card
Yeah. I'm watching through older year rn and he's midcard heel at best.
Test was better hhh. Test could of been a main event talent
Maven you made my day sir!
I hope you are enjoying life, and wish you all the best!
Keep on keeping on 💪💪
